Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on October 29, 2024October 29, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GOD’S GATE vs MAGNA’S CHOICE is the story of Race 1 at Belmont. GOD’S GATE is very fast and being allowed to stride looks his strength (maiden win 7L faster than average and then cut down by Ahyeahrighto in a time 5L faster than C3 average) and MAGNA’S CHOICE comes through the highest rating maiden that Northam has seen in 5 years and with Ripper Farooq $3.50 into $1.50 on Sunday (punters rejoice) there’s an expectation that it will be an avalanche for everything from that race. GOD’S GATE leads and that gives him the advantage. SURF PATROL and KARNUP QUEEN the next couple outside the match race. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GOD’S GATE WIN RACE 2 CABLE ROCK went close to breaking his maiden in a 3 year old 0MWLY when going to the line locked together with Watch Me Rock. Considering the progression of that galloper this preparation and the trial that Cable Rock handed in recently at Belmont Park it looks like he’ll be hard to beat at his return. THE AGENCY comes through the Yonga Pride / Patron Express / Catch Carter / Six Shooter / Rally The Troops mega form race and was a complete forgive last week. SPANGLEDSTAR ran well in a 3 year old 1400 first-up. IN YOUR CORNER trialled well through traffic. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – CABLE ROCK WIN RACE 3 BLUE LAGOON trialled really well under a fledging apprentice without a licence to ride on race day in Brooke Hall. Was only a 4 horse trial but it was a 72+ trial that contained Charleton Eddie (m83), All The King’s Men (m88) and Investment Strategy (m80), better types than he meets here in a C3. Will need a good ride from a tricky gate but he is very well placed by Sue Olive. MOHEGAN RULER trialled over a month ago and was put under a lot of pressure and didn’t look to be responding. Happy to trust Team Williams because quite simply if he runs to the level of his debut at Pinjarra he would be winning this. ARCADIA PARK and OUR NEMESIS both had soundness excuses last start. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – BLUE LAGOON WIN RACE 4 KHUTOS trialled nicely for his return to racing and should be able to hold a nice prominent spot close handy in a race which profiles like it could be dominated from on speed. CJP has options from the barrier and has a versatile horse underneath him. No star but should be winning a C1 / C3 this prep. SPICE IS RIGHT is well placed back into a C1 after contesting a 3 year old 1400m first-up. DIAMOND TIPPED has been there abouts recently and Steve Burton’s go super off the freshen. BILL SELECTS has turned a corner. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – KHUTOS WIN RACE 5 POND MASTER makes the tough transition from maiden to C1 company that very few are successful in, especially in this scenario: up in weight, up in distance; however, this is not a deep line-up and he looks to have a bit more upside than the vast majority of his rivals. ROCKING SOCIETY finished fifth behind Bucket’s Ridge, A Lot Of Good Men, In Good Order and Alaskan in the Melvista Stakes as a 4 year old. Might want further than this but it’s the standout form line. SKY GOD broke his maiden well before heading to a 3 year old 0MWLY. CRIMMO hasn’t had much go his way so far this prep. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – POND MASTER WIN RACE 6 MOI CHOUX is an older horse who hasn’t won a race in a long while, but he won’t get many better opportunities than this second-up. First-up without a trial he finished 3.3L off Almighty Class, Toropa, Amber Glide, Generosity and Co and now he falls into a special conditions No Metro Win last year. He’s a proven weight carrier, he’s a proven apprentice’s horse and he’s drawn to stalk the speed. OLIVIA’SMEMUMMA had genuine excuses last start. This looks a similar set up to her C1 win on 22 May. BOPPING BLUE and OUTFIELD are quick and the leaders are very hard to run down at Belmont over the 1000. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MOI CHOUX EACHWAY RACE 7 YORGA PRIDE impressed at trials, impressed on debut at Bunbury and the form out of that race has been exemplary. In the 21-day period since there have been 9 runners for 4 plunge winners and 2 minor place getters and she’ll carry the same weight here in a C3 as she did on debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY. Looks the winner on paper. RIGHT TO SILENCE put in a ripper first-up in a 60+ Graduation at 200-1. GOLD FLAKES is through that same race but is again drawn really poorly. CLOSE TALKER has been a tad unlucky in both runs back. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – YORGA PRIDE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4,5,10,11 1,4,5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 10 Market Market
