Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on August 29, 2023August 29, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SEEYOUATTHESESSION didn’t have a lot of room to move in the recent trial and went to the line relatively untouched. Looked to be travelling into it well enough to suggest that first-up over the 1000 he would be dangerous late. Went around $3.70 on debut at Belmont off the back of a trial win over talented stablemate Augment. YA SHISA lead them throughout in the Lark Hill trial and covered the ground nicely. Summer Dickson calls on William Pike and that’s a great lead. DIEGO DYNAMITE is double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. This looks the easier assignment. MY KRYPTONITE continues to find one better but is knocking on the door. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SEEYOUATTHESESSION WIN RACE 2 CAMPFIRE JACK looms as one of the main players in this staying maiden. Second-up run behind Zaza Rock (subsequent winner) beating home Kisses From Kelly was a ripper. Last start had some minor excuses behind Don’t Trust Judas. Senior rider on and should be ready. WHOS ME DADDY finished second behind Allegro Sonata at Northam over a mile two starts ago and then wasn’t disgraced at his first staying attempt of the campaign at Pinjarra in a race where Mercurius rolled around them to the top and never stopped. Gets every chance. MISTER POPCORN is set task 2 months between runs at 2200. HAYDROSS is racing like he wants ground. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – CAMPFIRE JACK WIN RACE 3 PETROUCHKA and ROCKIN THE SILKS give Grant & Alana Williams a powerful two prong attack. PETROUCHKA is the half sister to Utgard Loki and went around a $3.30 chance on debut behind Kermit’s Luck and Bhullar. Steps out an extra 100m and should take great fitness and race experience from the outing. 53.5kg and drawn to get all the favours. ROCKIN’ THE SILKS finished second behind She’s A Machine at only his second career outing and beat home Here For Cheques (dual subsequent winner). Trial was sound. ALL TOO BLUE ran into a nice one at trials. WEST COAST WARRIOR put in another big run last start. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – PETROUCHKA WIN RACE 4 TRIO is two from two undefeated at trials. Grant & Alana Williams have really hit their straps in the last 3 months: 125 runners, 29 winners at 23% strike rate. They’ve also produced 11 debutantes in that period for 3 winners at 27% strike rate so you can trust that they’re ready to go when they make their debut. Drawn a gate with Pike to ride – understandably popular. BHULLAR has put in two excellent runs to date. Eye catching on debut and then tried hard behind Kermit’s Luck beating home Petrouchka at her second outing. LACIE ACE gets back on top of the ground. ROYAL TORONADO ran well on debut. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRIO WIN RACE 5 MISS AVA is capable of winning better races than just a C1. Beat subsequent maiden winners Indie Ruler and Don’t Trust Judas in a maiden and then chased hard behind Hymns Of Eladdair when stepping to a 1400m C1. Gets the run she needs and can go through her grades. Like the look of this race for her and the David Harrison/Joey Azzopardi combination is on fire recently. KELORA is double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. Going along well after a long spell. ALMIGHTY MISS ran really well fresh last campaign and should have finished closer than fifth. WOZZECK comes back in trip off a little freshen. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – MISS AVA WIN RACE 6 FORTUNE’S LUCK was scratched on Saturday to save for this. Considering the dominance of Costazita it looks like that was an astute move and after the Brayden Gaerth claim he drops 2kg in weight. Will need some luck from the outside draw but it’s hard to fault his consistent recent form. AXEMAN’S JAZZ was being touted as a WATC Derby aspirant last preparation. He can now work his way through the grades. AGASSI is bursting to win a race and will park right up over the speed. PADDY’S LAD has blinkers on first time and like the fact they’ve opted to keep the senior with 60kg. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – FORTUNE’S LUCK WIN RACE 7 GALAXY CAT has enjoyed a consistent preparation and finds another even and open event in which she should run well. Finished third behind Bread To Flirt and subsequent Saturday winner Becalotti before finishing second to The Republican who has again run well since. Gets every favour from barrier 1. SOFIA’S SYMPHONY finds a new home with Michael Lane. Capable mare on her day. APACHE BLUE will have to work across from out deep to find a spot. SAMARIA was scratched at the gates last week. Keep safe. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – GALAXY CAT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 6,8,9 3 1,2,3,4 1,6,8,10 Market Market
