Scott Embry’s Monday Northam Preview Posted on September 24, 2021September 24, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BENTLEY BEAU can he finally break through? This preparation has finished second on four occasions and most recently finished third at his first attempt a staying trip when parked wide throughout, working and chasing a hot maiden tempo. Was still right there at the finish and is ready to win. Hope he isn’t the kind of horse who will continue to find bad luck anywhere and everywhere. Prayers for PK. JUST JERRY loomed large last start and looked the winner the entire length of the straight until Egg White got the gap. Gets another wonderful chance. RIPON FALLS races like he needs 5000m. Very one paced but will stay all day. XCAVATE was good two starts ago and bad last start. Staying maidens = forgiving nature. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – BENTLEY BEAU WIN RACE 2 SAVAGE ONE won a lowly Geraldton maiden when Joey Azzopardi had to earn his full riding fee and then came back down to the provincial area and made them look silly in a 3 year old 0MWLY 1000 down the straight at Pinjarra Park. Went around a well supported $2.60 chance in a 3 year old 62+ after that when he was set alight in the early stages to cross. Entitled to get a stitch late. Recent trials have been sound and there’s only a small field of 5 opponents. EXCELESTIAL finished 2.5L off Iseered Iseered and All Day Session first-up at 1000m. That performance sees her go close. ALIEN FROM MARS returns with 60kg but in a compressed weight scale. Has a big turn of foot when clear of traffic. STRIKE trialled like a winner. Great little race. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SAVAGE ONE WIN RACE 3 PRINCE OF GUELPH clearly has the best and strongest form lines. Has had almost as many trainers as starts but the last two outings are excellent for a race like this. 4L off Trix of the Trade, He’s A Sizzler then 5L off Far Too Strong, Henchard and River Rubicon. 3 year old Saturday form in an All Age Maiden. Should be hard to beat. CORALITA got clear eventually last start and finished off impressively. Copped a few decent bumps along the way. MASARU has Pike and a set of blinkers for the first time. TOP NOTCH SCOTCH has come back well. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – PRINCE OF GUELPH WIN RACE 4 CISCOJOE has really caught the eye in recent trials. Loved the way he hit the line quietly behind Let’sdeal and Noble Born at Belmont over the 1000m and then when asked for an effort by Carbery in the most recent trial exploded late to score. Think Bernie Miller has another above average type that they’ll have fun with. REAL DANGER went under at the shorts on debut and was immediately tipped out. Trialled professionally and impressively (again). SAFETY FUSE has been going well this campaign and is drawn to get the ideal run behind the speed. THE WHITE LINE probably didn’t sprint past much at trials considering the second horse goes to Toodyay on debut but was still impressive to the eye. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CISCOJOE WIN RACE 5 THE LADY IS A VAMP is double nominated for a 3 year old 1000 at Belmont on Saturday and an 1100m Northam maiden on Monday with W.Pike and 53.5kg. You’d think they’ll be scratching from Saturday and saving for this but we’ll need to wait and see. If she starts here she’s clearly the one to beat. NITRO FRED looked all at sea last start when held back to them at 1200. Looks a jump and run commodity at this stage of his career. FOXY SON has improved at every single trial outing and looks to have a level of ability. DANNEMORA impressed at trials recently. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE LADY IS A VAMP WIN RACE 6 TREASURED STAR was backed into $1.50 on debut at Belmont on a Heavy8 track. Brave punters were taught a lesson and she went under. Lost no admirers from a quality assessment perspective, getting home well when the race was all over in a leader dominated event. Her trials have all been sensational and she looks like winning plenty of nice races. ELECTRIC ROSE finished third on debut behind Ain’t No Other Man. That form stacks up nicely for a maiden. SO BIRIKKINO looked comfortable at Belmont when controlling the tempo throughout. SILVER BUGG showed glimpses in the initial prep. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – TREASURED STAR WIN RACE 7 LOVE DRUNK BABY and TREVERN both look talented front running types who will be winning more than just C1 events in time. LOVE DRUNK BABY was thrown in the deep end by the Pearce Brothers last start when going from a maiden into a 60+ 0MWLY event. Stable seems to hold a very high opinion of him and he now gets back into a more appropriate C1 event. Jett Stanley is thrown a lovely opportunity to notch another winner. TREVERN and Laqdar Ramoly are drawn a gate inside of him and so they’re likely to come across together and likely lead and breeze between them. They look to control from there. MARZIPAN LAD can box seat in behind them and stalk throughout. TWICE LUCKY ran well first-up and looks an improving type. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – LOVE DRUNK BABY WIN RACE 8 OUR DANNI finished third in a 66+ behind Dia De La Raza and Comes A Time first-up and then three starts later at her most recent finished only 3.5L off Mystical View, Dunbar and Em Tee Aye. Mystical View goes to the Black Heart Bart Stakes on Saturday Belmont and Our Danni drops into a C5 59+. Lovely placement by Luke Fernie and on paper she should go well. ROCKY PATH is flying and continually strikes leader dominated surfaces. If they’re making ground at Northam on Monday she’s a huge chance. ISLAND MISSILE has been a hard horse to follow but has undeniable ability. LOCK HER IN is going well for the new yard and should find an excellent spot in running. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – OUR DANNI WIN RACE 9 OUTSPOKEN LAD ran fourth of four in a small field 3 year old 0MWLY race last start when going under at $1.40. Carries 1kg less in a C1 and looks to have a fairly bright future. Going off his debut win he’d be very hard to beat in this. Going off his second start he’d want to find something! PAMBELLA was heartbreaking last start. Found the perfect race, given the perfect ride and decided to be Pambella in the final few stride and get beat. Torturous mare. TUMIVET will need to have his skates on early if he’s to get across from a wide alley. Last start he finished only 1L off Scorpion Stormz and that’s likely to prove better than average C1 form. BLOCK OF LAND is going to be quite hit and miss through his career. His best is good enough. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – OUTSPOKEN LAD WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 8 1,2 1,2,6 FD Market Market
