RACE 1

ZIPPY ZANY resumed down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra and wasn’t too far off them. Some of her efforts in defeat as a 2 year old through winter at Belmont Park are good enough form to be winning this, second to Storyville, second to Supido Express and fourth to Repossession, The Agency and Hez Got The Safe. SANTANOVA didn’t get much room to move in the home straight on debut when well supported late in betting. NORTH FACE beat her home in a recent trial at Lark Hill and commands respect. CHAMPAGNE COAST next best.

RACE 2

SIRIUS STORM should be ready third-up and really won’t get many better opportunities to break through than this. No stand outs in this and he was right in the thick of things last start in a blanket finish. SHEEZA SHEILA was racing on rain affected tracks when last in work which makes it a bit hard to line up, however, she was racing well. REPEATER took advantage of the on-speed dominance last start but finds a winnable C1. ROUNDABOUT GLORY resumes in a C1 and worth remembering that he’s never been first past the post (elevated on DQ).

RACE 3

ABSTRACTED made her WA debut from a wide gate and went back and came wide on straightening on a day which saw a heavy on speed / on fence dominance in review. Thought all things considered she was a great run and second-up drawing barrier 1 will be a big help. CHEST OUT SWAGGER has been hammered in betting on more than one occasion in a short career. Always trials well. CHINO LA DIVA has shown glimpses from time to time. Last start a perfect example of that. SPANGLEDSTAR has had a few excuses here and there this preparation. Still get the feeling she might want further rather than shorter?

RACE 4

EXTREME RULER showed ability at trials and then parked outside of Money Trees on debut. If either of Santanova or Abstracted were to go well in Races 1 or 3 then the form will look even better and from barrier 1 expect that Jason Whiting will look to keep them out early and hold the front. BUSY FINGERS has trialled well for his debut. Love the way that he has been winding up late under William Pike. Great pick up ride for Joey Azzopardi. AMERICAN ESCAPE ran well last start behind Caporetto and beat home subsequent winner Great Edition. Gets every chance. SHINE AND BURN ran well on debut.

RACE 5

DUG ANOTHER HOLE was backed heavily into odds on last start and just couldn’t quite get past Repeater. Gave the impression 1400m would suit. Just wary (again) of where he lands in running. May have to kick him out? KAMAKAZI SHOOTER loomed the winner last start but couldn’t go with I’m Crafty late. He races Wednesday as a form reference. SHE’S PERFECTION went through the fillies series when last in work. Can sprint well fresh and has been trialling well. FUNCHAL is a Playing God filly who may need the race day experience but still expecting her to go well.

RACE 6

HOT LIKE CHILI ran well at Bunbury behind Lady Tremaine two starts back and then went to 1685m last start when running into Antz Pantz Baby and subsequent $1.26 winner Summer’s Legacy. Right form line and should be fitter again. This is not a deep line up and with even luck expecting her to go very close. METALLIC MARLIN was E1 last start and when gaining a run ran well above market expectation. BOSS HOLIDAY continues to run cheeky races. MILYEANNUP is a bit of a one paced type of mare. Fresh might be best?

RACE 7

STARATING was a bit disappointing first-up. She was very easy late in betting and while William Pike elected to stay off the fence and keep her in the one-out line confidently in running she didn’t really let rip once (eventually) clear. Might be more a momentum type so not willing to write her off just yet. ONLY US put in a blinder last start at any old odds. Hard to trust him to do it again but if he does, he’s right in the mix. HE’S ARCHIE is as consistent as they come. WHY ME beat up on some very moderate types at Albany.

RACE 8

MIA GUSTO is ready to win one. She’s been a hard luck story at her last few outings in Westspeed Platinum grade and is going far better than it reads on paper. Provided they can make some level of ground she’ll be one of the main players. INFURIATED went straight from a maiden to a 60+ Graduation and people were jumping out of trees to back him. This is a good test of where he’ll get this campaign. DREAMTIME JEAN should be well suited to this race. Great effort in the Grandstand Cup when only beaten off in the last 100. FRAPPUCCINO clearly runs for Pike. Without him will he race at the same level?
