Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on July 24, 2024July 25, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KERMELIA does look a staying type of filly. She’s on the quick back-up (8 days) from another honest effort behind Vancouver Storm and Tivacisaurus and in a small field of 9 expect that William Pike will allow her to find her feet and then wind up into the home straight. Pike on a Thursday is becoming the go-to for punters. LATE FLYER is the full brother to a Perth Cup winner and is showing staying potential. Big concerned about barrier 1 for him but he’s tracking along well. JIDDO probably rolls to the top and controls. DR ON CALL is a big animal who is starting to put it together. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – KERMELIA WIN RACE 2 LEAD BY EXAMPLE has found a really winnable maiden without any real depth or quality to it. Finished off hard into third behind Kings Artillery and Bird On A Wire last start and she did run some cheeky races in the Ascot 1000 Guineas and Natasha Stakes when last in work. Like this race for her. SHOULDER PATCH caught the eye from a fair way back at his return to racing. Has been a costly conveyance so far but hasn’t been that far off them at times. CHOICE THINKING raced like he wanted a lot further fresh. JATS can give some cheek in front. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – LEAD BY EXAMPLE WIN RACE 3 TAWKIN JIBBERISH has found a race where she should ump and run and take running down. In a C3 1200 she ran into Antique Miss and Madame Magic after leading and if she reproduced a run of that quality over 1000 fresh she would be hard to gun down. NEW EXPRESSION and LUCKY LILY were both impressive first-up winners and while both rise 2kg into a C1 they’ll get similar runs to where they settled and won from respectively. Think both have plenty of upside. UNDERCOVER SNIPER won well up the straight and was honest in defeat last start. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – TAWKIN JIBBERISH WIN RACE 4 TRIO has promised to win a maiden his entire career. They’ve stepped him out as far as 2000m but in the end he has always trialled super over 950m so maybe he’s got everyone confused and is actually better suited over the short trips? Always liked the horse but time to actually win one. ALL VITAL is through the No Brainer maiden which produced Top Of The Walk for a minor placing behind Joker’s Grin on Saturday. BOLTCO JACK has run two slid races since joining Brandon & Lucy Fiore. Shades go on. FAMOUS DAIN was a luckless fourth on debut behind Starating and Another Strike. That’s excellent maiden form. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRIO WIN RACE 5 DRAG MACHINE was backed as if unbeatable on debut but ran into a nice filly in Extreme Love who has since come out and won a C3 to further frank the form. Paul Harvey sticks, he steps out another furlong in distance and Annie King’s small team is going super. Think he’ll be popular again and take plenty of beating. SOSO LUCKY has impressed at trials in both preparations. Not convinced she beat much recently in terms of opposition but she looked handy enough. MARYBEE draws to get a soft run and the Play The Bluff form should hold up. KIMBERLEY CURRENCY is very quick. Numbers: 3 – 11 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – DRAG MACHINE WIN RACE 6 SKY DUKE is well placed into a C5 1000. He won a recent trial by 9L under Keshaw Dhurun and on his day the horse is more than capable. He’s an Ascot 3 year old 1000 winner (beating Supersession) and first-up last campaign he won a C5 1000 at Bunbury off 134 days. This preparation he’s in a C5 1000 at Bunbury off 110 days. Same preparation, hopefully same result. BONNIE LAD is sharp on his day. Always concedes them a head start but can motor late. BLEECKER STREET won really well fresh last preparation. MAGNUM CLASS is back in grade. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SKY DUKE WIN RACE 7 BE BARDOT was a ‘be on me next start’ run on debut. She required the attention of the farrier behind the gates on debut, missed away, got shuffled back in running and once clear savaged the line from a mile off them when the race was all over. Second-up steps out to 1400m and just looks your classic Grant & Alana filly who will improve start to start. WHISTLING WARRIOR should land in a nice spot from the draw and ran well behind Touretto. MODELISTIC ran a very cheeky raced at odds on debut in the same race. COULDHAVEBEEN is an X-Factor runner. Love the booking of Paul Harvey. Numbers: 12 – 10 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet – BE BARDOT WIN RACE 8 MARINSKY BALLET was coming off a set back last Wednesday at Pinjarra (scratched on 3 July & 10 July) so all things considered thought she did a super job to finish off into fifth behind Super Romani. Drawn far better, on the back-up and landing a race which looks very even on paper. Worth plenty of consideration. ZAZA ROCK was forced into the role of pacemaker last start. Think she’s better with cover. COVERT ROSE was able to lead and dictate last start (first 800m run 17L slower than average – remarkable). WICKED COOL is going much better than it looks. Keep safe. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – MARINSKY BALLET EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3 1,2,3 12 1,4,5,6,7,8,9 Market Market
