Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on May 7, 2024May 7, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DEADLY AND FAST won a C2 1900 at Albany (same race as this) going back four starts ago by over 2L. Since then has been to Ascot, finished second to stablemate Oddoneout and ten been backed into favourite in the $100,000 Jericho Cup Qualifier Cup when running third behind Muster Popcorn and The Roan Ranger. Back 1200m, back sharply in grade and has an apprentice rider on. Few unknowns but going really well. SIR BEAR A LOT broke maiden status last start and now rises up another 400m. Likely to lead and control. RED WITH TED is as honest and consistent as they come. ARROW SONG next best. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – DEADLY AND FAST WIN RACE 2 OXBRIDGE is a massive beneficiary of Rocapozzene/Prince Ragnar not being in the race. He should have no trouble crossing from barrier 6 of 6 and if left alone in front for a furlong or two mid-race will turn it into a sprint from the 600. Straight to the front and don’t look back. NOTEWORTHY ran a ripper fresh behind Amber Glide, Playhouse Patron and Becalotti first-up last prep. Would have preferred if this was 1200 or 1400 but class should take her a long way. RUSSIAN SNIPER gets CJP’s services and has found his niche in these c70+ races at Albany / Mt Barker / Geraldton over the last 6 months. MORGS FREEMAN drops 6.5kg on his last start third. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – OXBRIDGE WIN RACE 3 SIRIUS STORM should be far too good for these, especially with key rivals all coming back sharply in distance (The Mighty Butch, Kamazaki Shooter and Maybe Divine all back 268m and Shoulder Patch back 368m). Recent 950m trial win was super and you only have to watch his luckless debut performance up at Geraldton to see that he won’t be a maiden long. Likely to be very short. KAMAKAZI SHOOTER might be better suited back in trip. MAYBE DIVINE has no weight on her back and can lead. SHOULDER PATCH probably does want further than this. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – SIRIUS STORM WIN RACE 4 IHTSAKING has run into seemingly sharp maiden Our Mate Archie on two occasions over 950m at Lark Hill recently and has been working to the line quite well for a horse resuming first-up over 1600m at Albany. He’s definitely a bit of a one paced staying type but expect that CJP will happily put him into the contest if they try to walk. ONLYUS is on a 7 day back-up from last Thursday at Pinjarra. Both runs this time in have had merit and he was competitive out to 2200 when last in work. ANTIQUE MISS was only beaten 3.4L in a C1 last start. Fence was hot though. PRAY FOR LUCY kept whacking away last start. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – IHTSAKING WIN RACE 5 NAUGHTY GOSSIP was far too good for them first-up this track/distance/grade. Rises up to 60 and is drawn wide but it was a really soft win fresh. If she can reproduce that run she’ll be hard to hold out again. PHENCE SITTER won a maiden at Northam over 1000m from last first-up last preparation beating Bondi Bubbles who went on a winning spree in Esperance before taking out the 3 year old Pinjarra Magic Millions. Never asked for an effort in a recent trial. SPEEDY NOVA broke through last start for an emphatic win. Rises up 3kg which is a serious ask and an extra 100m going to a C2. CHARMING BELLE is really well placed by the Farrells. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – NAUGHTY GOSSIP WIN RACE 6 IMPERIALIZE won a C3 1500 with 60kg at Pinjarra a month ago before being beaten 2L in a Westspeed Platinum at Ascot. Scratched at the barriers on 18 April and then copped an abandoned meeting last Thursday so comes into this 33 days between runs dropping back to 1232m. Interrupted preparation but really well placed. STAR IN TIME won a re-handicapped c70+ last start and can roll forward to a commanding spot. HOW PRETTY has won three on the bounce and can measure up at this level. HENRY THE AVIATOR drops out of 70+ company and while drawn wide can sustain a big L600. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – IMPERIALIZE WIN RACE 7 DEEL RED finished third behind It’s A Lance and Fleur Delacour and then third behind It’s A Lance and Kallaroo last start. You know what you’re going to get with DEEL RED – he’s rarely far from the winner and he has an attractive racing pattern which sees him park over the top of the speed and gives a kick on straightening. CJP on for a claiming apprentice catches the attention. VONSNIP won well off a 2 month freshen and then was fair behind Sacred Oath. DIVINE MERCY is knocking on the door. STARAUTHORESS continues to attack the line. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – DEEL RED WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,9 1,2,4,5,6 1,2,3,4,6,9 2,4,7 Market Market
