Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on March 5, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 CORPORATE LARRIKIN back into the Great Southern region and a white hot Mitchell Pateman into the saddle looks awfully hard to catch in the opener. Will roll along at his own tempo and can out stay them. GO CRYING is up 400m in trip but if he can show the turn of foot he did over the sprint trip then he goes close. GAUGED is always a chance in these sort of races. CANNA LILY doesn’t quite stick the trip but she’s honest. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – CORPORATE LARRIKIN WIN Race 2 OUR GIRL MARLI always seems to find one slightly better than her. She will not get a better opportunity than this and she has been contesting tougher all preparation. Should be her day. ORAKSY has been knocking on the door all campaign but draws a gate, drops back in trip and should be running top two. 11th start this preparation, she has been brave on many occasions. DEGREY LADY is slowly improving with racing. BRIARIC can improve from the soft draw. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – OUR GIRL MARLI WIN Race 3 DYNAMITE BAY split Dream Lifter and Calbanesco in a recent trial at Mt Barker and Jason Whiting elects to jump off a Bruce Watkins trained horse. That is a big push and he looked good at the trials. THE VAMPIRE was a nice run first-up and if he could cross them from the outside gate then looms as the one to beat. Roy Rogers swinging at 16% last 3 months. KNIGHTOFTHEROAD looked good enough at Lark Hill to go close in a race of this nature. HUSSAR HUGHES can run a race fresh. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – DYNAMITE BAY WIN Race 4 PURE GEM was the beneficiary of a 10/10 Pateman special last start to get the cash for his loyal followers. No reason why he can’t do the same here and make it two on the bounce. ALL MAN brings an alternate form line to this race coming from Esperance but stuck it out really well in a fast run race. Can surprise the locals. CLEOS AFTERPARTY is racing more genuinely now and can figure in the finish. BIG SUMMER will win one of these staying races. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – PURE GEM WIN Race 5 POINT certainly doesn’t win out of turn but this race looks a very good assignment for him. Hit the line well in a race which should prove the strongest form reference and can grab another win here. NOTTA MOCHA is fresh and back to Albany. Was thrown in the deep end recently and this is a lot more suitable. ROWIE has been there abouts all campaign and is never far from the winner. CHASING CHAOS goes for Shelby Colgate and if he finds the top he’ll take catching. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – POINT EACHWAY Race 6 AFLICAS GIRL looked like she would have been hard to beat in the Rose of York abandoned Monday meeting. She has run three big races since joining the Watkins yard and his horses are jumping out of the ground last few weeks. Gets clear running and is very hard to hold out. SAX ON CUE comes out running from an awkward gate. If Pateman gets him across he is right in the mix. MALILANGWE was a booming fresh winner and looked like he was simply run off his feet last start. Can bounce back. POLDARKS GIRL is better than she showed last start. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – AFLICA’S GIRL WIN Race 7 MESSIAH is drawn to get every chance and if can reproduce his run of four starts back or two starts back then he should be going close to winning. Sits midfield and enjoys an economical run. COUNT KALA back in trip was a sharp improver last start and goes well for Little Brother. WAR JEUNE has been teasing punters for a long time. Again a great race for him on paper but he finds ways to get beat. COLD AS COLD will be hard to beat from the draw and is the most progressive type in the field. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – MESSIAH WIN Race 8 CAPTIVATED POINT looks to be the stable elect in a tough and even race. McGruddy would have had the choice of at least four rides and sticks with the flashy black 6 year old. Can position up from the gate. ARRUM BOY jumps off the page form wise but interestingly the stable throw an apprentice on. POTENT SECRET can carry the weight but will need luck from the gate. LORD KRONOS goes 10L better at Albany than any other track. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – CAPTIVATED POINT WIN Quad (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,4,7 1,4,5,11 1,2,3,4 1,2,4,9,10 Market Market
