Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on March 5, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE draws the inside gate which should be of huge assistance on debut. Oliver has a wonderful card and he can have this filly sitting leaders back and should enjoy the run of the race. DRINKWHATYOULIKE showed ability at trials and gave cheek on debut. Likely to attempt to cross from the outside and if finding the fence runs a race. SOME SORT was a very handy trial and Assetro won impressively on debut as a 2 year old and there looks no reason why the sibling can’t too. MARCEE A LADY was fancied on debut and has since spelled and trialed up well. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE WIN Race 2 SOPHIE’S SONG was nailed on the line by a nice type in a midweek 1400m event and they kicked almost three lengths clear of the field. This is a drop in grade and she should find the fence. Takes a lot of running down. PURE MAGNUS comes from the same race and should tow ball the leader. JEDAFFAIR finally broke though last start but runs into a nice one here. ROSE THIEF controlled a weak maiden and had rail conditions to suit. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOPHIE’S SONG WIN Race 3 STRASMORE could quite conceivably make it three from three for Simon Miller and this looks a suitable assignment to lead all the way and break its maiden status. Blinkers went on last start and he ran a big race. Time was slick and he can prove too sharp here. SWIFT MIRAGE is a big impressive type and the debut win was super. Gets off them and comes hard late. Looks the only danger. HEAVENLY AFFAIR will need luck from the gate but has talent. HENTY GAL backing up off 5 days can run a cheeky race. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – STRASMORE WIN Race 4 ZARATITE looks a typical Peters three year old who will only get better with racing and only get better with distance. From the gate can settle midfield with cover and unwind over them late. Could even chime into some of the later 3 year old features. HE’S A GUNSLINGER drew awfully first-up and found a lot of traffic. Showed ability at trials and draws a gate. ENSIGN PULVER hit the line well last start. HAPPY SANDAY was forced to do it extremely tough 6 days ago. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – ZARATITE WIN Race 5 CITY CIRCLE is drawn awkwardly and will need a little bit of Parnham polish in the saddle but the first-up run showed that she will be breaking his maiden very soon. They ran great time down the 1000m straight and expect her to be well supported. FAIR JOY comes from the same race, has blinkers on and a senior on. BLANKENBERGE showed dash in two runs as a 3 year old last campaign and can prove hard to run down if leading. MY BLUEBOY trialed well enough to win a race like this on debut. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – CITY CIRCLE WIN Race 6 KING’S AUTHORITY is very well placed to win at his second WA start. He has to lump 62.5kg but dropping from a 66+ into a C1 is very rarely seen. Throw Damien Oliver on and put blinkers on and he should simply be winning this. OUR BONNIE GIRL freshened and dropping back in trip an improver. GROOVERSHAKER finds himself at a third stable and could surprise a few if he can return to some of his early form. HYPERSPACE is well short of his ideal distance but this is thin. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – KING’S AUTHORITY WIN Race 7 JUST A FLUKE is a bit hard to catch and has not been showing the same level of blistering early speed but drops in grade and boasts the “Fabergino Form” which has already produced a Saturday winner and a placing. The one to beat. THUNDERPLUMP was a strong winner two starts ago and then left gasping when Beautiful Mind kicked into overdrive. That could prove very strong form and she should sit midfield with cover. Big weight but nice race for her. KENTOO has ability on his day. FIRE MAKER will need luck from the gate. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – JUST A FLUKE WIN Race 8 ALPHA SKY could top off a big day for the Miller-Carbery combination. In the same way that Vital Silver won the Pinjarra Classic from outside the handicap Alpha Sky looks easily progressive enough to do so here. The way he was able to change gear at the corner last start was super impressive and he can lead this and go very close. VITAL SILVER will need a bit of luck from the gate but he is in form and very talented. TELLEM WE’RE COMIN drops a stack of weight, draws a gate and his trials were enormous. Can win. VARIATION is ultra talented but had more issues than Michael Heaton on the famed Esperance Cup Charter flight. Great to see him back and hope he gets around safe. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALPHA SKY WIN Race 9 GOLGOTHA was big in the Narrogin Cup. May not be the most glamorous form reference of all time but the winner won the Esperance Cup stylishly. He was three deep to four deep to five deep and speared off on the corner. Gets every chance from the inside here. RAYARNIE will win his fair share of races leading over this trip. STRONG HEART was run off his feet in a fast run 1800 last start. Maps nicely and looks like he will stay. STAIRWAYTOTHEMOON freshened from last start may suggest she’ll be Oaks bound. Turn of foot is impressive. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – GOLGOTHA WIN Quad (Race 6 – 9) 1 3,4 2,5,6,8,9,11 1,5,6,10 Market Market
