Scott Embry’s Sunday Pinjarra Preview Posted on January 23, 2026January 23, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FARADIO is a lightly raced 3 year old who takes on extremely limited and extremely exposed opposition. If he reproduces his third placing to Wild Things then he’ll be hard to hold out late and willing to forgive last start when sitting back last and being flushed deep in a slowly run 1800 which was dominated from on top of the pace. SHE’S RESOLUTE ran third to Iraychoux and subsequent winner Electric Bec before running second to Dandy Flirt. She’s a real battler but she’s trying hard. DECLARED INNOCENT is a 25 start maiden but all of his best runs are out over ground and he showed last start that he’s giving everything he has to offer. DANEA ROCK couldn’t really get going when she wanted last start but at the same time didn’t accelerate once clear. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – FARADIO WIN RACE 2 JUST WALTER JOHN won his barrier trial by 5.5L at his first public outing for new trainer Mitch Pateman after having bone chips removed from both knees prior to resuming. He stepped out a $2.20 favourite but nothing went right, being caught three deep and ultimately bringing his stablemate Written Words into the race. Written Words races Saturday in a 3 year old 1000 and if he runs well the form will only look stronger. Like the 1200 for him too, gives him a chance to be a half stride slow and then muster through. HELLBENT FOR GLORY is drawn a gate for the first time in his life. Can he hold up leader’s back? Hasn’t shown much gate speed yet and three back the fence at Scarpside is poison. COCOBELLE has won her last two barrier trials including beating She’s Hot at Belmont. DAISIESFORTHELADYS like a lot of Ryan Hills went huge at odds last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – JUST WALTER JOHN WIN RACE 3 BUNDABERG resumed from a freshen in a C3 at Bunbury a fortnight ago and finished 1L off Rommel’s Goddess. He’s now right back into a C1 and if he leads cleanly he should be able to do enough to use the barrier drawn to bluff the others out and lead against the fence. Horses rolling on Scarpside are hard to run down. QUEEN ARIA was first-up at 1100m as a mile maiden winner from last prep. The fact she got within a head of victory says she’s in for a good campaign. GLOBAL TRIP ran well in the same race at his first outing for new trainer Coreen Maynard. UNIVERSAL HOTNESS was a bit disappointing last start as a beaten favourite, but at least the winner has won again (Pure Silver). Numbers: 7 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – BUNDABERG WIN RACE 4 CAN’T CATCH ME won a 950m barrier trial at Lark Hill and then stepped out first-up at 1200m here at Scarpside when gobbled up in the final strides by Slick. Second-up she should be fitter, should find the same position in running and looks a big chance of leading and winning. Clearly come back bigger and stronger as a 4 year old. GOD’S CROSS was popular in betting on debut and was just getting going late once the race was over. Like the step to 1200m for him. Still green and wayward but has something. DESERT WAVES hasn’t raced since October 2024 (450 days) but Summer Dickson can get them up and going fresh and the trial was handy. EL ALAMEIN has trialled twice since racing a month ago on Westspeed Platinum Day. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – CAN’T CATCH ME WIN RACE 5 MEDIA MOGUL was a tough watch first-up in a 1000m scamper when held up repeatedly at crucial stages. Thought he did a massive job to still run third after all of that and if he can bounce out and lead this time around and stay out of trouble he’ll take running down. Looks to be a high cruising speed horse suited to rolling into the corner at Scarpside. BOSUN ran a cracking and luckless third on debut behind London’s Image in a $50,000 Westspeed maiden and then was beaten in a heartbreaking photo finish second-up behind She’s Hot. If Call Me Frosty comes out and wins (or runs well) in the 3 year old 1000 on Saturday then he’ll become increasingly popular. Great match up. ZALI’S GIFT is trying hard but may run into two above average maidens here. GLORANARDO wasn’t bad at odds on debut. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – MEDIA MOGUL WIN RACE 6 BRADBURY’S MOMENT finished second to The Scholar (since placed in a C3) before going into a 3 year old 1400 on a Saturday when finishing 1.5L behind Western Ace and subsequent maiden winner Morf. Just needs to overcome a tricky draw but hopefully there’s a three deep moving line bringing him into it. YOU CAN CALL ME AL was great in the Westspeed Maiden behind subsequent winner Western Ace and then went mighty close behind Wild Things. Not convinced barrier 1 is of any help to him but he’s certainly going well enough to win. THE ROCKET was 100% a Pike Price last time out. Back into a maiden, drops 4.5kg and will be at least double the price in a more winnable race! HEAVENLY RAPTURE is going better than it looks. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet – BRADBURY’S MOMENT WIN RACE 7 VATICAN STORM might just be a very nice animal. He broke his maiden in a 3 year old 0MWLY with a sustained near last to first sprint from the top of the corner and won running away from them. It was a visually exciting victory and he’ll carry 1kg less taking on the older horses in a race handicapped the same! RETURN OF THE MACH is double accepted for a 60+ Graduation at Ascot on Saturday and a C3 1400 at Pinjarra on Sunday. If they scratch from Ascot to save for this then she must be very well respected. PRINCESS IN RED has returned in good order this campaign, with a minor placing to subsequent Westspeed Platinum winner Helluva Goddess and then a solid minor to Ma Ma Belle who has also won since. CANTRIX is a talented mare. She was scratched a few times between first-up and second-up but it didn’t worry her at all. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – VATICAN STORM WIN RACE 8 MAGICAL SEQUENCE is the kind of lightly raced, progressive mare that Jason Miller typically takes through their grades. Looks like she’ll belong on a Saturday in time and while her win wasn’t that flattering she still safely got the job done. Think she can continue her way onto C5 company. PLATINUM SHOT was solid first-up behind speedy type Universal Playboy who ran them into the ground and then second-up was a fast finishing third to Let’s Talk in a high speed, high pressure race. Racing like she wants 1400. DON’T TRUST JUDAS beat Impressive Jewel two back (since won a Westspeed) and then again caught the eye behind Helluva Goddess. In career best. JELLY CAN RUN was only 3.2L off Sky Duke and Angel Undercover on Boxing Day when racing lengths outside the handicap. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – MAGICAL SEQUENCE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,6 3,5,9 1,5,8,10 1,5,8 Market Market
