Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on October 24, 2025October 24, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LOVE OF FAR FA was a serious improver first-up to second-up after being beaten nearly 11L behind Old Mate Henry to then get within 2L of Zoomachino in a 2200m maiden. Looks a real one paced staying mare. Josh Krispyn doesn’t have many horses but they’re all racing well at the same time and this is as weak as they get. LAST MILE sat three deep pulling last start (if you’re looking at settling positions in the racebook or the Tabtouch app, they’re wrong) and might be best allowed to stride here. NEAP TIDE grinds. Zero turn of foot, Pike the plus, but wary she’ll go round short vs ability. HARRIS ROAD looks like he’ll keep whacking. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – LOVE OF FAR FA WIN RACE 2 SHE’S CAPITANA was an alarming late drifter on debut (big time in the last 5 minutes of betting) and was no match for Heaven Specified over the concluding stages. He heads straight to the Belgravia off that maiden win so we’ll get to see how he goes on Saturday and for this filly she should only improve with racing and looks suited back to the short course. ARTIE’S ECLIPSE ran second to Flying Frankie on debut (favourite in a 60+ Graduation Saturday at Ascot) and then resumed in the Max Simmonds when beaten 6L by Talkanco/Luana Miss/Rostislav/Twisted Steel/Yes Queen/Deltason. DON’T DECLARE hasn’t been fully tested at trials. COUNTRY EDITION has shown a bit at Belmont in trials too. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – SHE’S CAPITANA WIN RACE 3 RADIANT LIGHT finished within 2.5L of Mardusa on debut when savaging the line, was the only horse to make any ground off undefeated galloper King Of Light second-up and then didn’t handle the Heavy8 conditions in a leader dominated event third-up. First-up, no trial and looks above average. DOMINATUS ran well in a maiden behind Toronado Rocket first-up and then missed a run when ending up E2 and failing to gain a start so Trevor Andrews had no option but to send him around in a C1 where he finished third to Fine Star and Hedawood. Big danger. AUSSIE REACTOR made his return to racing in a 3 year old 0MWLY and finished within 1L of undefeated Wolfe galloper Testy Pharoah. WHO’S TALKING might be better suited parking up close handy. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – RADIANT LIGHT WIN RACE 4 PURE SILVER did finish within 1.5L of Fiery Spark, Hard Solo and Loves Talking at Bunbury in a 1200m 2 year old event back in March and then even last prep first-up was 4.4L off Playin’it Sweet. Shades go on first time, trialled well enough and in a very thin maiden going to suggest she can make a winning return. BUSY FINGERS has been beaten in an Albany maiden and a Geraldton maiden but amazingly on paper this looks just as a weak and with Pike and a barrier he’ll actually likely go around short again. ALL LACED UP is the way that Vicky Corver rides and considering she trialled her and Pure Silver this filly might be the stable’s preference? JESA LUPA could give a bit of cheek if finding the top. Numbers: 15 – 3 – 16 – 9 Suggested Bet – PURE SILVER WIN RACE 5 FAST HARRY will be the shortest priced favourite of the meeting and could get ridiculously short (~$1.20/$1.30?). He was backed into $1.60 first-up in a C3 1300 and simply put on a galloping exhibition with a barnstorming run from a long way back. He’s got gears, he’s got upside and he belongs on a Saturday. Bullying from Team Williams. HOBA METEOR comes through the same race and should have finished closer after finding heavy traffic in the home straight. FOREVER DREAMING has been raced back down through the ratings system to a point where they can sneak her into a C3 and put a senior back on. KING CARTEL is on the quick spin from Wednesday at Belmont. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – FAST HARRY WIN RACE 6 THINK PINK DAZE made an impression on debut with a sharp but wayward and green victory over 1100m here at Northam. First-up she went into a 3 year old 0MWLY 1200 and was slightly held up on straightening before hitting top gear when the race was all over. Those that finished in front of her settled in front of her and thought the effort was actually quite good. Back into a C1 and worth following. SUPIDO EXPRESS will look to cross from the outside and if doing so can give cheek. WINNING SHUFFLE broke his maiden by 2.5L and then nearly won a C1 straight. Not the kind of horse who is ever going to set the world on fire at trials. ZIPPY ZANY gets a senior back on. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – THINK PINK DAZE WIN RACE 7 TOO MUCH TALK is a last start winner of a $100,000 feature and has now proven himself at 1600m. He won that race soft and maps to get a very similar run in transit here. Looks a great opportunity for him to go back to back and punters launched Gold Maker out of that event last weekend at Ascot. LOVA SESSION found 1200m too short and sharp first-up at Belmont and then went to Geraldton and was a replay watchers delight (or nightmare if you were on) after being unable to secure any clear galloping room for the entirety of the straight. 3kg claimer to Pike. COVERT ROSE has her first start for new trainer Metro Brown and while she’s on her mark she’s usually pretty consistent. HARBIN won well last start for Natika Riordan who is starting to emerge as a promising apprentice. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – TOO MUCH TALK WIN RACE 8 SECRET ATTRACTION was enormous first-up under 61kg and then ran a narrow second in the Hannans Handicap. She’s in on the 54kg minimum and can settle a few pairs closer than key rival Captain Pluto. Looks a great set up for her to park midfield and be right place, right time. CAPTAIN PLUTO like First Encounter and Opportunistic on Saturday at Ascot was completely unsuited by the race shape first-up on Opening Day at Ascot in the 78+ 1400. The backmakers were impossible after they ran the first 800m 6L slower than average and he also got pushed back inside heels on straightening. The addition of Prophet And Power and Multinational to this race should ensure a more genuine tempo and that will help him greatly. SENSESSIONAL ran into Cosmic Crusader last start. Drops 1kg and meets a much lesser field. BRUCE ALMIGHTY had never won first-up. 10yo marvel. Numbers: 11 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SECRET ATTRACTION WIN RACE 9 BATTLE COMMANDER is 1 from 27 and awkwardly caught in between grades with his rating. It’s either 60kg in a C1, 58kg in a C3 or 55kg in a 0MWLY but think this is the right set up for him with the Chanel Cooper claim. Finished within a head of Great Edition and Saturday Sesh, finished less than 4L off Nine Ball and Too Much Talk, within a nose of Capable Angel and then last start is through the Wembanyama, Linchpin, Romantic Ruler race. Would love to see him jump and lead, but from leader’s back he’s still a big chance. MISS VEUVE is getting better and better with racing and Chloe Azzopardi rode her brilliantly last start. VEXATIOUS ROSE is still a maiden but has savaged the line in all three runs. AHREA got to the line really well fresh. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – BATTLE COMMANDER WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,8 2,3 2,3,4,11 1,4,6 Market Market
