Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on May 3, 2024May 3, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DEEP DISCRETION looks to have found a very suitable race in which to break through. Last start finished 1.2L off Diego Dynamite in a maiden where they stopped the clock 3L faster than average. That should hold her in good stead in a thin race. SECOND LANDING trialled well recently at Lark Hill and has excellent maiden for alongside Rusty Dreams and Emerald Trader against her name. Just hasn’t raced for over 500 days. SPECIAL STREET can hold a spot and improve. MR UNIVERSE has shown a bit at trials. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – DEEP DISCRETION WIN RACE 2 IDYLLIC RULER returns to maiden company after being DQ’d from a race back in October 2023 (1400m maiden at Northam when beating Rockin’ The Silks, Sound The charge and Play With Desire). Stood in the gates first-up in a C3 and was sent back to trials. Returns to the races 37 days later and drops back to maiden grade. Should have a class edge over most of these. IMPOSSIBLE DREAM has put the writing on the wall in two runs back. She’ll just need some luck or a great steer from barrier 10. LUNCH IN PARIS similarly hasn’t been afforded any favours at barrier draws. She spent most of the home straight searching for clear running last start. ROYALE MUCK UP gave cheek last start. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – IDYLLIC RULER WIN RACE 3 PERCUSSION PRINCE and SNIP OF GOSSIP both step from 1413 to 1600 and they look the most popular pair in the race. PERCUSSION PRINCE has been thereabouts all campaign nand gives the indication that he’ll stick out a mile. From the draw Steve Parnham has options and he’s seemingly elected to ride PERCUSSION PRINCE over SNIP OF GOSSIP who has hammered in betting last start when running 5th beaten 3L. Liked his fresh run. FULL OF LIFE got to the line really well last start in a race that has already produced Warning Shot to victory. If reproducing should go well. DESERT EDGE looks a one paced staying type. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – PERCUSSION PRINCE WIN RACE 4 LORD RANDOLPH resumed first-up no trial at 1600m and kept coming to the line. Second-up Summer Dickson puts a set of blinkers on and calls on the services of William Pike. Both have to be viewed as positive changes and from barrier 1 he can kick through to lead and control this race or take a sit. Is only 1 from 15 but this race doesn’t contain any stars and he looks to get his chance. HE’S ARCHIE backs up off 4 days from another honest effort at Ascot on Wednesday in a C3 behind Rommel’s Jeuney and stablemate Belle Journee (still convinced she won?). RUBICK LASS had to dig deep to win last start and now gets out in trip. MR BLING was stiff last start. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet: LORD RANDOLPH WIN RACE 5 BIG SWOOP is as honest and consistent as they come. He has found form, he is holding form, he has a positive racing pattern and really it should only be a matter of time before he’s rewarded with another win. Love the way he’s going. FLASH DUCATI was well found in betting at big odds last start ($21 into $12) and was charging to the line late behind talented and progressive mare Profit Pocket (races at Ascot on Saturday). Senior goes back on and he steps out to the staying trip which looks to suit. FIOREYES backs up out of the Jericho Cup Qualifier and drops from 3100 to 2200. LUKE’S PIERRO is really well placed. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BIG SWOOP WIN RACE 6 WESTERN EMPIRE trialled super behind Baby Paris and then showed that he is back when finishing a luckless third in the Joey behind Magnificent Andy and Laced Up Heels. He goes from carrying 58.5kg at WFA to 55kg at SWP and looks extremely well suited under the conditions of the race. Drawn a gate, gets the right run and simply has to be popular in betting. Opened $3.50 but expect that price will tumble. COMFORT ME didn’t have much luck in the same race and while he hasn’t won a race or a long while he’s always going to have supporters in SWP races. Deserves to win one. SALOON BAR was an unbelievably good run in the Quokka. GINGER BAKER was enormous at his first outing for Ben & Dan Pearce. Numbers: 11 – 12 – 13 – 5 Suggested Bet – WESTERN EMPIRE WIN RACE 7 FALCON TRADER comes back from 1500 to 1300m and is looking to end a frustrating run of luckless runs this preparation. Think he’s going far better than it reads on paper and some of his recent efforts in Saturday company behind the likes of Boots Like Bruce / Think Of God / Ultimate Command / Bleecker Street / Karalee Rocks are good enough to go well in this. Want eachway because he’s drawn outside both Little Silver & Kelvin. MEGAMI resumed in the Marjorie Charleson at Fillies & Mares grade. This is much easier. PLATINUM SHOT and SHE’S IMMINENT are both handy chasers who drops weight coming up in grade. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – FALCON TRADER EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,5,6 1,2,4,10 11,12,13 1,2,3,6,7 Market Market
