Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 23, 2022July 23, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MANITOBA again takes on the older horses in an all age maiden and two of the last three efforts have been strong. The one time he didn’t finish off was when he pulled up with genuine excuses. Last start finished second behind Chang Man and from barrier 1 Tash Faithfull can have him positioned up and poised to strike. LITTLE SCHNITTY makes the trip to Kalgoorlie from the metro stables of Lindsey Smith and will have plenty of admirers. A TOUCHY SUBJECT is testing the patience of connections and loyal followers within the Kalgoorlie Tatts Club. GOT LUCKY has shown flashes of ability. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – MANTIOBA WIN RACE 2 PRAWNS ELEVEN had no luck on debut. Only had a 400m jump out back in November and then made his debut without a trial and was first-up at 1200m. Was caught wide the trip and kept coming to the line. Thought it was a huge effort and with even luck and natural improvement he can go close at start number two. LATHAMS WISH makes his WA debut for Justin Robins and his two runs when last in work were both better than the beaten margin suggests. Could be loopy but think he runs a race. DEE RODMAN is racing well and knocking on the door. SHAWTY wasn’t too bad on debut in a tougher race than this. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – PRAWNS ELEVEN WIN RACE 3 LOOK UP won a Northam maiden well and then settled a long way off them in a C1 at Belmont. Finished 3.5L off the winner but with Simple Logic coming out and winning a 3yo 0MWLY on Wednesday at Belmont it makes the form look good. The way he’s racing he’ll eat up a mile. FIRE AT WILL won a maiden at Kalgoorlie displaying a big turn of acceleration and then went straight into the Aquanita Stakes when pulling throughout and never finishing off. Last start went back to 3yo 0MWLY company and finished third behind Nero King and Kentucky Blue. This is easier and Victoria Corver rides him well. ALL IN A DAY can finish off strongly. BLUE TURNS TO GREY was great last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – LOOK UP WIN RACE 4 BIZZI TOO had to be seen to be believed last start. At 60-1 the 8 year old mare settled last of the 10 runners and was held up approaching and rounding the home turn before letting rip with a huge turn of acceleration down the centre. Always a bit of a trust issue with these types to reproduce the run again but at the most recent meetings Cliff Smith and Jo Leeson’s horses have all been improving sharply at odds. KEEP YOUR FEET is the kind of horse who needs everything to go his way. Should get those conditions from the inside draw. PRINCE OF GUELPH should be a handy acquisition for Peter Fernie’s team. JOLLY LACE broke through for a deserved win last start. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – BIZZI TOO EACHWAY RACE 5 HILTON has had three starts for Neverstop Lodge and finished in the money at all three of them. The two wins were strong and then last start finished second behind Old Bailey who was able to lead (on a heavily leader bias track) and hold him out. The third horse was Long Weekend who duly saluted at his next start and now they meet again here. Hard to beat. LONG WEEKEND has been a bit of a work in progress since arriving in WA. Seems to be getting better and better and can go through the country grades. SOLARIZE is frustrating. Has all the ability but struggling for consistency. TALK IT UP continues to burn punters and remarkably they continue to tumble into him. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – HILTON WIN RACE 6 HERRON SAND is absolutely flying. The win three starts ago was enormous, two starts ago was held up the majority of the home straight and last start was charging to the line against the pattern of the day. She’ll always settle in the second half but if an in form Laqdar Ramoly can keep her in the clear she’s a big chance in this. Stable foreman still planning a trip to Perth for her. SEEABLE won well last start in a C2 and has to lump the weight again in a 58+. Looks a huge day on paper Brock Lewthwaite’s team. ROSEICAPILLA finished third in a 64+ only two starts ago as a $7 chance. Nice placement. DEEL RED isn’t a Kalgoorlie horse but he’s the class runner for a race like this. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – HERRON SAND WIN RACE 7 BLAZING TYCOON is yet another Brock Lewthwaite runner who looks really hard to beat on Sunday. Winner four starts ago and then finished second at the next three. This gelding is going super and while it’s always tough to tip into him with great confidence he continues to go round at an almost eachway quote and continues to go close. Always needs an ounce of luck but if he gets it he’s more than capable of zapping them. NURHACI is an interesting runner joining Peter Fernie’s yard. His form in Geraldton when last in work more than measure up. At his most recent he finished second to Startrade. That’s now 78+ metro form. PROTECTED ACTION is a gun 1100m horse. Can be vulnerable late at 1200. JAKESTAR gets the run he needs. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – BLAZING TYCOON WIN RACE 8 TOWN HALL had been well supported in multiple races leading into his last start victory. They were all better quality races and included the likes of Pedal Power, Tahitian Red, Magic of Zeus and Lincoln’s Law. In his last start victory he beat Shoot Ur Shot who has made the form look excellent. 1200m on the short side but because he’s fresh we’ll stick with him in a tough finish to the program. FACTORY MADE is a query out past 1000m but has been going along alright at the provincials. BALDERDASH Is drawn on Charles Street and has a heap of weight but had a great campaign in Esperance.
