Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 11, 2022June 11, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SO LIKEABLE once again gets his chance to break through for his first win. Brock Lewthwaite’s yard is going exceptionally well at the minute (13 winners in the last 90 days) and more importantly when they’re in the market they’re performing (15 runners between $2 & $4 for 6 winners at 40% strike rate and 25% POT). SO LIKEABLE can roll to the top from barrier 1 and dictate terms to them. Nice race for him. FIRE AT WILL looks the main danger after an encouraging debut performance. Hit the line well in both the trial and the debut run. READ THE ROOM looks better suited out in trip. LEOCARDO travels like Freo but lets down like West Coast. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – SO LIKEABLE WIN RACE 2 SATURDAY SINNER should give Nick Carapellotti his first winner for the season. Beaten a nose at his WA debut when leading for 1198m, beaten a nose at his second start in WA when unable to reel in Spinalong Time in the final stride and now attacks this off a 7 week freshen up. Sits over the speed and likely tracks the every move of Playthatfunkymusic. If she’s vulnerable late then he should pounce. PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC is a 2 year old filly on debut and has trialled up in blinkers over the 400m jump outs in Perth. You’d think she’ll lead them into the straight. AMERICAN SIOUX can tow ball the fancied pair and it might turn into an on speed dominated race. SATURNINA next best. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – SATURDAY SINNER WIN RACE 3 SOLARIZE was hammered in betting last start in this grade ($3.40 into $1.90) and then over-raced really badly throughout under 60.5kg and had nothing to offer when the sprint went on in the home straight. Was beaten almost 3L in a disappointing performance. Brett Drury opts for the 2kg claim of Taj Dyson and brings the weight down to 58kg. Going to follow up because his previous run in a 70+ behind Kakadu was a ripper. HILTON was the win of the meeting at his first start for Nicholas Thomas (brother of Justin, son of Brian, grandson of Popeye) and looks like he’ll be a very nice acquisition for the region. Last three runners all winners. Follow the yard. PROTECTED ACTION is suited to racing in this grade and can roll them along. SWEET STRAWBERRY will sit back and have last crack. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – SOLARIZE WIN RACE 4 MEET JOE BLACK was tough last start. Had to sit up over the speed throughout when a month between runs over a mile and was too strong for them late. Looked under pressure a fair way from home but just kept finding under pressure. Think he’s ready to continue his way through the grades and while he has 60.5kg here he can again sit up over the speed and be there for a long way. SHADOW BOOM comes out to 1400m which is a query but is racing extremely well and should get a soft run midfield with cover. ANOTHER DEMON sneaks back into a 58+ and the form around Kakadu and Little Ses is excellent for this grade. BILL THE BEE improved sharply at his second start in WA. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – MEET JOE BLACK WIN RACE 5 TOWN HALL has a set of shades attached to his gear and comes from some very strong C2 form races: Shadow Boom five starts ago, Little Ses (58+) four starts ago, Pedal Power three starts ago, Tahitian Red two starts ago and Lincoln’s Law and Tahitian Red last start. Money has been coming his way all preparation and think that this is about the best chance he’s had so far. Eachway chance in an open race. DIVULGE was a debut WA winner on a day that the Thomas/Harvey families will never forget. If the Foreman Joshua Mark Fewkes turns up then he’ll be going close again. Hard to run down. SHOOT UR SHOT is a proven weight carrier and attacks this fresh only 2 months between outings. DEEP ENCOUNTER another first starter in WA but may need further. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – TOWN HALL EACHWAY RACE 6 LITTLE SES is a marvel. She arrived in Kalgoorlie as a 5 start maiden and since then has had 13 starts at the KBRC for 6 wins and 3 minors. She’s a last start winner in this grade and while she’s drawn awkwardly she seems to go to another level when she is pulled out deep to sustain a run. Lisa Staples rides her brilliantly and she should go close again. CUBAN TWIST looks about ready. She can lead this from the inside or take cover on the back of Watto’s Fury. Going well and building. KAKADU is in form and maps a treat from the inside draw. JAKESTAR has X-Factor and on his day has a big turn of foot. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – LITTLE SES WIN RACE 7 WINSALOT finds a new home with Helen Harding and tackles this moderate C2 1200 first-up no trial. Two starts ago in a Westspeed Platinum Saturday race (58+) she finished a nose off Express Time and beat home Alien From Mars. If she can run to anywhere near that level she’ll be right in the finish here. TOTAL LOCKDOWN was highly impressive at his first start for Dave Smith. Seems to have improved a couple of lengths since arriving in Kal. LOVE DRUNK BABY is a nice horse for the Goldfields. 58+ back to a C2 and a senior rider on should see him go well. TALK IT UP has ability but has a really tough barrier to contend with. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – WINSALOT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,6,7,10 1,3,6,11,12 1,3,6,7,9,10 2,4,6 Market Market
