Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview

RACE 1

DAWN AMNESTY and VRANYO went to the line together last start at 1100m. They settled alongside each other, they had very similar runs and matched motors in the home straight. In the end Vranyo is now an 11 start maiden and is unlikely to cross speedy Durrant filly I’m A Special Girl so siding up with DAWN AMNESTY who will no doubt be the better price of the pair. Blinkers on first time and chased hard most recently. VRANYO came to Kalgoorlie with a fairly loft price tag. Won’t get many better opportunities to return her connections $9,860 than this. I’M A SPECIAL GIRL goes quick but stops equally quickly by the looks. Cross over nose band and tongue tie. TENNESSEE LANE has a senior on which helps.

Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 1

Suggested Bet – DAWN AMNESTY WIN

GOLDEN LULLABY had Keshaw Dhurun on two starts ago when finshing off nicely beaten under 2.5L by Colossal. Last start she was held up at various points in the home straight when finishing worse than midfield, but again beaten less than 2.5L by Silver Bugg. She will track them round from the inside and should go close to breaking through. HEAR ME looks the logical danger on paper. Has had a few opportunities now but this is the first full preparation with Peter Fernie. He also likely leads. TALKABOUTYOU was disappointing last start. Previous run was sound. GOT LUCKY ran well at odds fresh.

Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 2

Suggested Bet – GOLDEN LULLABY WIN

KALLAROO looks a special on Sunday in this 70+ 1300m event. He has been good to punters since joining Freddo Brown’s yard and the former Fairetha Stakes winning 3 year old can continue his winning ways here. Lumped 62kg to victory late in the season at Esperance in a wonderful piece of placement and then at his first start in Kal was luckless and enormous when charging into second behind Pure Magnus. Drops 2.5kg on that effort and fingers crossed Brad Rawiller is finally testing negative by Sunday because this is a great race for him. KAKADU has a tough barrier to contend with but has returned to racing well (as has Gary Bowen’s entire yard). SWEET SNITTY will sit up over the speed and give a kick. BLACK COMET will be doing his best late.

Numbers: 2 – 7 – 8 – 5

Suggested Bet – KALLAROO WIN

RACE 4

TALK IT UP could well be the second leg of a race to race double for Brad Rawiller. For those wondering why the racebook says he won two maidens, it’s not a typo; the first time he ran second to Rebelzone who was later disqualified and the second time he beat Halatorion (who then beat Otheroneson) fair and square. Looks to have some upside and is ready to go through the grades. FIRST STRIKE is fresh here but can reel off some powerful late sections. SHADOW BOOM didn’t get the best of luck last start along the fence in a sit and sprint. FIRST MOMENT won well last start but this is harder on paper.

Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 4

Suggested Bet – TALK IT UP WIN

DALGARANGA was held up at a crucial stage last start. He looks like he’s almost ready to win again. Has been going along alright at each and every run this campaign and the fact that Peter Fernie has called on Kyra Yuill to ride might just be the indication we need to jump aboard. Should get a great run from the gate and this should be eachway the field. AMELIE ARGOT brings alternate form and while a question at the trip she did charge home last start behind Little Ses. EMERALD ROSE has turned a corner in the last 6 months. All of a sudden she’s highly consistent. TRILLIONAIRE was eye catching at his return to the KBRC.

Numbers: 8 – 7 – 4 – 6

Suggested Bet – DALGARANGA WIN

RACE 6

RUNYOO looks well placed here in the feature event on the program, the Happy 80th Birthday John ‘Popeye’ Eaton handicap sponsored by Hahn 3.5 and the Goldfields Tattersalls Club. The run at 1500m two starts ago behind Oxbridge (since run third to Little Punga and Ginger Green) wasn’t too bad beaten under half a length and then at his first run in Kalgoorlie he was in a hot 58+ behind Sassational, Dalgaranga, Trillionaire, Knight Tempest and Co. This is a big drop in grade and Kayla Cross should get a lovely run just sitting off Modern Times. Nice race for him. TOWN HALL is going far better than it reads on paper and all of John Arthur Mason’s horses run for Laqdar Ramoly. Keep safe. SPRING TO LIFE should get every mortal hope from the inside gate. KANDAKA won a very weak Geraldton maiden fresh.

Numbers: 4 – 8 – 5 – 6

Suggested Bet – RUNYOO EACHWAY

RACE 7

BALLADEER has a tricky gate to contend with, however, with Protected Action likely to really roll them along we’ll put our faith in Ramoly to get a half decent run. Second to Esperance horse of the century Alcina, second to Sweet Snitty in the Esperance Sprint and then third to subsequent Saturday winner Arracity and talented stablemate Double Spice reads up particularly well for this. REGAL DIVIDEND is on the short side but thinking first-up without a trial she can come across and stalk the speed. SNIP-PIRANHA hasn’t had a lot go his way since winning at Esperance three starts back. HERRON SAND transfers from the stables of Justin Thomas to younger brother Nicholas and can sprint well fresh.

Numbers: 2 – 9 – 6 – 5

Suggested Bet – BALLADEER WIN

Quaddie (Race 4 – 7)
