Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on May 21, 2021May 21, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 THREE EZE looks to have found his race. Had four starts for Dave Smith and has improved slightly at each and every one of them. This is the easiest assignment he has seen, the smallest field he has seen, and Ryan Hill got a feel for him last time out. Plain and simple: now or never. CENSURE is having only her second start for Georgia Grant and gets a significant weight swing on Three Eze from last start. Looks the danger. NAUGHTY THOUGHTIES and MAGIC OF ZEUS are both Kalgoorlie maiden winners this season but look a length or two behind the top pair. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – THREE EZE WIN RACE 2 BARNSLEY BOY is one who might sneak under the radar here. Has had 10 starts and has never run a place but has run fourth on three separate occasions including a 1200 at Belmont when fourth behind Fiery Water, Enduring Moment and Promission. Two runs this preparation have been luckless from tough gates and now finds himself in a Kalgoorlie maiden, drawn to lead and with the services of the once King of Kal Mitchell Pateman. IRON SHARP was always hard in the market during his Simon Miller days. Finds a new home and gets the claim of a real emerging talent in Holly Watson. BOONDI ROCKS heads to Joanne Forrest after two solid runs in the provincial area. JOLLY LACE is going well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BARNSLEY BOY WIN RACE 3 WHIIM CREEK has been freshened up (last seen 27 March) since running fifth behind Knight Tempest in a 58+ at the opening meeting. Ryan Hill rides the gelding perfectly and rom the inside draw he can have him wherever he wants. Seems to go better with a smother and can take a sit just behind the speedy types like Protected Action and Blooms. ALCINA had nothing go right last start. Hard to knock the way she’s going. SNIPPIRANHA was much better at her second-up run. Drawn a gate to again enjoy a soft run. HAYAN LAD is always a winning chance in this grade. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – WHIM CREEK WIN RACE 4 REBEL YELL has been an excellent acquisition for Helen Harding. Has won a 58+ at Mt Barker and a 70+ at Kalgoorlie since joining her yard. Trialled back on 25 April and back in his Lou Luciani days was very much a fresh commodity (3x first-up winner). Looks another lovely assignment for him. Krishane Warren’s best. SPEEDING COMET should be winning one of these c70+ or 0MWLY races with weight in the near future. Much improved first-up to second-up and drawn to get a lovely run behind the speed again. BOS TAURUS has the speed to cross them and loves the KBRC 1100. MANHATTAN MONEY is better than what she produced fresh. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – REBEL YELL WIN RACE 5 CROSSED SWORDS will be a polarising horse in this race. Easy to make a case for him (third at Ascot behind Darcele and subsequent winner Queen’s High first-up from a long break) and easy to make a case against him (got things his own way last start and was beaten 8L). With a myriad of gear changes, a drop back to 1300m and a race with a lot of well exposed maidens I’ll elect to follow up. WUNDERKIND was unable to run down speedy stablemate Double Rush last time out. WORLD RULER ran a ripper last start for rookie trainer Nicholas Abrey. AURAE is running out of chances. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – CROSSED SWORDS WIN RACE 6 FINGERMARK ran really well first-up no trial with 61kg in a high rating 58+ behind Shooting Shirocco and Congreve Rocket. Made noticeable ground in a race which was dominated out in front and on speed (leaders back and leader running 1st & 2nd) and was arguably a better run than Trillionaire. Gets important weight relief coming up in grade and as a previous 64+ winner looks well placed by John Arthur Mason. TRILLIONAIRE is the kind of horse who will win plenty and be a black booker at plenty more. Always dictated to by his race pattern. KENTUCKY LOVE has returned in great order and should continue through the grades. ANOTHER DEMON query at a mile but suited back in grade. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – FINGERMARK WIN RACE 7 HERRON SAND will be looking to give Never Stop Lodge trainer Jayden (Justin) Thomas a change of luck after a frustrating start to the season with Paris Report. First-up no trial last campaign (10 May 2020) at 1200m was an enormous run after being crunched in betting. Went on two starts later to beat Prince of Promises and Old Bailey in a C2 before running into Great Charade at her next outing. SEMIGEL loomed in typical Semigel fashion last time out. Will be winning a Kalgoorlie C2 sooner rather than later. SHADOW BOOM an improver. BLACKWOOD RIVER looking for further but thin race. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – HERRON SAND WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4 1,8 3,7,8 1,3 Market Market
