Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 23, 2021April 24, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LASTING IMPACT and WUNDERKIND both head up to the KBRC for Neville Parnham and given recent history you would say they’ll be joining the ever growing stables of MR Peter Fernie. One of them should break maiden status here in a bit of a coin toss. Going to opt for LASTING IMPACT who likely goes round the slightly better odds of the pair and with shades going back on can (hopefully) jump and run a little more here. Showed ability early doors. WUNDERKIND should be given every mortal hope from the draw. No surprise to see her beat the stablemate as she did last start. DOUBLE RUSH has the senior back aboard. SIZZLING AFFAIR wasn’t bad at her return to racing. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – LASTING IMPACT WIN RACE 2 PURE MAGNUS resumed first-up, no trial with 60kg in a 58+ when getting over the top of Torniquet and Blooms. Nothing wrong with that form as a horse who now drops down to 55.5kg to tackle a small select 70+ race. Love the way this horse is improving at every start for MR Peter and can continue on his winning ways. MANHATTAN MONEY is no slouch and the mare goes super at Kalgoorlie. Track distance specialist who gets in well weighted after the claim. BOS TAURUS is on speed and rock hard fit. WATTO’S FURY will be winning another soon. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – PURE MAGNUS WIN RACE 3 SNIPPIRANHA has been in the care of Cambana Lodge previously (both career victories in Esperance) and rejoins them for her first start in the Goldfields. Always promised a bit this mare and including a second placing to Laverrod in a 60+ beating home Comes A Time. Fresh might be best for her. Watch the market. GUARDED did it tough last week. Best served rolling by the looks. FIRST STRIKE can improve sharply third up from the draw. FOXY DREAMER comes back in trip but is super honest. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SNIPPIRANHA WIN RACE 4 ACT INNOCENT ran fifth first-up at Albany, was beaten just under 2.5L by Royal Whisper and subsequent winner Rock of Kaha. 1300m is definitely going to be on the short side for her but she is more than capable of winning at her first start in the region. ORNAMENTAL BELLE actually ran pretty well sectionally first-up under the apprentice. Keep safe. OUR NORMAN hasn’t shown the same level of ability as he did at trials but with the shades on may improve. NAUGHTY THOUGHTIES went close last start. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – ACT INNOCENT WIN RACE 5 PARIS REPORT was a replay watchers delight last start (or frustration if you were on) because she got back and then never really balanced until the race was over. Once she did hit her straps she was charging through the line and with a slightly more experienced apprentice in Snaggers Sardelic engaged and a soft draw it might be time to fire up the BBQ and get busy. TORNIQUET looks the danger after being a late scratching last weekend. New stable, same horse, should prove hard to beat. KNIGHT TEMPEST ran well first-up and second-up. Needs an ounce of luck from the draw. ALCINA hasn’t put a foot wrong since joining the Browns. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – PARIS REPORT WIN RACE 6 THREE EZE hasn’t won a race for a long time but he gets in on the minimum here and if Chris Nicoll can navigate a tricky little draw he looks ready to break through. Dave Smith is a genius with these tried types so we can expect further improvement from start to start. Knocking on the door. TRILLIONAIRE simply got too far out of his ground last start which is always going to make him a risky betting proposition. NORD AVENIR caught the eye late at his most recent. FINGERMARK carries weight first-up and John Arthur Mason probably thought Chris Graham still claimed but he’s had the (round) yard watchers talking. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – THREE EZE WIN RACE 7 MISS ABBY is now a long time class 1 mare but her most recent in a C2 to finish only 2L off Trillioniare and Three Eze is definitely good enough form to be winning here. Drawn a gate, has a solid turn of acceleration (for this grade) and should get the right run. Looks her best chance in a while. SPIRITED SESSION beat her home in the same race and that looks the form reference for this. HUSSTARR never runs a bad race. Likely to come out running. TOO FAT TOO SLOW can kick up along the fence into a prominent position. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – MISS ABBY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,5,7,8 2,3 1,3,4,8,9 1,3,8,10 Market Market The Black Hearts are WA’s team in The Racing League – the world’s first horse racing league.
