Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on August 1, 2025August 1, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK has had 6 starts in Kal and never missed the money. Has been getting back on heavily rain affected surfaces in Perth and will appreciate: 1) the step up in trip; 2) the massive drop in class; and 3) a smaller field. There’s a lot to like. THE JESTER’S SON has only had two starts in WA for new trainer Helen Harding and they’ve both been great. First-up had to do a power of work from a wide draw to find the breeze and only faded late (was also first-up, no trial) and then second-up put away a 58+ field by an extending 2L margin. AGENT JAY can lead and control. ABBOU next best. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK WIN RACE 2 SECRET STYLE is a nice mare resuming. She’s had 5 starts in Kal for 4 wins – to the point she jumped favourite in a 66+ Ron Sayers Memorial when third behind Crippalenko and Zing To Win. She’s had a long time off but her second trial was much more herself. No Lucy, no Pike so Tash is on MR Peter’s #1s and that’s Secret Style over Treasured Queen. TREASURED QUEEN had her colours lowered by High Pressure last time out. She can either jump and hold or jump and hand up to Secret Style. MUNGO JERRY is a 70+ regular who is always there abouts. TALK IT UP did it tough last start. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SECRET STYLE WIN RACE 3 PEARLY NUGGET is another Helen Harding runner early in the program who looks to have undeniable winning claims. She’s hit some form and it took a great effort from horse and rider to gun her down last start. Prior to that she won by a margin and this looks a great map to roll to the top or breeze and control. DREAMERS NEVER DIE simply must step to give himself an even chance. His first run in Kalgoorlie behind Pearly Nugget was excellent even though beaten 3.5L. PARORI travelled well in the run but didn’t let down at all. May have needed it? NATURAL GEM has raced well all season but does look a tricky map. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – PEARLY NUGGET WIN RACE 4 AMERICAN THIGHS ran second to Scottish Laird two starts ago. He’s been holding his own in 70+ grade recently so if she could rebound off her last start (where she did have genuine excuses) then this looks a nice race for her on paper. ELSUENO has found some form but back to 1400m is just a slight query. FANTAXTIC now heads up to Kalgoorlie after two ‘forget’ runs. Was going to make half a run at them last start before being chopped out. HIGH PRECISION is going along alright. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – AMERICAN THIGHS WIN RACE 5 CHEST OUT SWAGGER put in two encouraging runs to start the preparation and then got a long way out of his ground behind Swift Streaker and Secret Intent in a race where the leader was rolling and broke the field open. This is clearly easier, he drops weight after the claim and don’t think he runs out a mile anyway so back to 1300 is a bonus. STYLIN’ takes on the older horses and her recent trial over 850m was more than good enough to give this a shake. KING OF FRANCE is now a 29 start maiden. He’ll pinch one eventually…(hopefully). JEKYLL ISLAND was much better last week but still finished behind King Of France. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – CHEST OUT SWAGGER WIN RACE 6 STRYKER’S GAL is just a different mare at the KBRC. She’s won two from three in the region and her only defeat came at the hands of Science Degree. Last start she would have been a good thing beat if the gap didn’t appear for her at the 200. MISS WALL STREET has her first start for new trainer Mack Hall and he can certainly revive these older tried types and travels them to where they need to go to win. ODIN OMEN didn’t love the dirt at Carnarvon. His prior grass form was actually quite okay. CHIPILLY is an intriguing galloper. First start in WA, 7 weeks between runs, big unknown? Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – STRYKER’S GAL WIN RACE 7 TWIST OF GOLD won well two starts ago beating home subsequent winner Hezangelic in the process and last start was an easy risk because she doesn’t run 1200m. Back to 1100m is key to her winning chance but the element of concern here is 59.5kg and whether she can carry the weight? THE LIONS GATE was a big win two starts ago when parked off the track throughout and proving simply too tough for them. PENNED has been super his last two, turned a corner out of nowhere. CALL TIME gets down to 52.5kg and is on the 7 day back-up after another honest minor placing. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – TWIST OF GOLD WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,5 1,3,8 1,2,7 2,3,4,9 Market Market
