Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on May 2, 2025May 2, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BE SEATED was highly impressive last start when pulling clear for an emphatic victory. Had been building and building into the season but that was clearly the best run that he had put in for over 12 months. Landed a 5 horse 70+ in which to go back to back. DREAM TO ME is better suited back in distance to 1200m and hopefully the winkers will sharpen her up again. BOMBAY STYLE ran a race in the Geraldton Cup. Now he’s all the way back to 1200 and yet you just know he’ll be competitive. NEVER SOBER next best. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – BE SEATED WIN RACE 2 IL BELLO BEALS has promised to win a race all preparation but continues to find one or two better than him. Maybe back to 1200 is a blessing in disguise? Straight to the front and worth one last chance. ROLL’EMUP went around at Dongara and was ridden for speed and held on until the last furlong. Was a much improved performance but in a very weak line up. LOONA DAWN has a really tough barrier to navigate which is likely why they’ve elected to claim and get the weight relief. ANOTHER COB is on debut and the second trial was much better. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 9 – 14 Suggested Bet – IL BELLO BEALS WIN RACE 3 FORTUNE’S LUCK has found a beautiful race. Won a Westspeed Platinum 1400m only three back and since then has been back in trip (unsuited) and got a mile out of her ground from a wide draw. This is ideal. SPEED BUBBLE won back to back races at Narrogin (46+ and 52+) carrying weight by margins. Since then has finished 2.7L off Platinum Shot (races at Ascot on Saturday) and 2.3L off Looks (also races at Ascot on Saturday). Those are easily good enough form references to suggest he’s the danger. SPECIAL PLAN lands on the speed. ARCHER COUNTY improves. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – FORTUNE’S LUCK WIN RACE 4 IRONCLAD BOY ran into Queen Of Hawks last start and now drops 2.5kg, draws barrier 1 and should have enough speed to hold up leader’s back. From there he’s hard to hold out, from three back the fence he’s going to need luck. Won a 58+ 1200 earlier in the prep and beat both Mocha Dream and importantly key rival Enticing that day. ENTICING is a hard horse to catch but each run for Peter Daly has been good. DIRTY CHAI was back to her best at Dongara and is seemingly thriving for new trainer Jackie Scott. Prior runs had been poor – hopefully they’ve fixed something? ROCKSTAR STATUS is better than what she produced at Dongara. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – IRONCLAD BOY WIN RACE 5 GOLD CHAIN hasn’t been seen since her extremely impressive maiden win on 6 April when she beat key rival Deep Discretion by over 3.5L. Trusting the eye and backing her to make it two on the bounce. SOUTHERN SCANDAL went into a 58+ last start and wasn’t disgraced behind form galloper Luckee Floran. Prior to that was a C1 winner here. Big respect. LIBERTY DAME and DEEP DISCRETION went to the line together last start in a C1 1220 and this time the barriers and positions in running are effectively swapped. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – GOLD CHAIN WIN RACE 6 KENTUCKY BLUE brings alternate form and may not quite get the respect he deserves in the market. He’s coming out of the Dongara Cup and led for a fair margin in that race. Think that back to Geraldton, back to 1609m and with Austin Galati back on he’ll be in front for a long way. BLACK SANDS took 19 starts to win his maiden but since then he has been savaging the line and got another well deserved victory on the board last start. See no reason why he can’t win again? ALTERNO finished third behind Collective and Soso Lucky in the Abrohlos Plate two back. DUTCH POR is ready to win. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – KENTUCKY BLUE WIN RACE 7 SCURGEOFTHEWEST was really well supported late in betting at his second career outing and then was given a 10/10 by Wags Dyson when getting off the fence early to track the favourite into the race before putting him away powerfully and extending for a 1.7L win. Like the look of him and happy to follow him into this C1. MEXICAN QUEEN tends to race on the fresh side and if Troy Turner is allowed to lead she’ll be hard to run down. WASN’T ME took 26 starts to break through but amazingly plenty of those types of animal go back to back (somehow). WHAITIRI looks to have trained off? Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – SCURGEOFTHEWEST WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5,6,7 3,4,5 1,2,4,5,8,11 1,6 Market Market
