Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on May 2, 2025May 2, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 I HAD A DREAM transfers to Rickie Brown and that could be the change that makes the difference. Worked for Scottish Laird, worked for Mungo Jerry and hopefully can work for this 16 start maiden who has consistently been there abouts but not quite pinched one. He’s of 8 days, he’s in arguably the weakest maiden of his career and he’s got barrier 1. Now or never. FIFTY WORDS wasn’t too bad in his trial and in his first-up run behind Ultimate Paradise. BEAUSMEBUBBA was right on the heels of I Had A Dream last week. CLASSIC CODE next best. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – I HAD A DREAM WIN RACE 2 QUEEN OF CHAOS probably should have won last week. She was held up for the majority of the home straight and then when she did get out in the last 100m she was charging home into fourth beaten under a length. Senior rider goes on and kept out of trouble in the moving line she’ll get her chance. SWEET EYES heads to Kalgoorlie for Adam Durrant and has shown ability in provincial maidens throughout her career. ICANDOIT ONMYOWN was backed incredibly strongly last start at Narrogin and didn’t seem to stay the trip. PROPHET STEEL made an encouraging David Smith debut and now has shades. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – QUEEN OF CHAOS WIN RACE 3 CATEGORY THREE is first-up, no trial making her Peter Fernie debut and is a more than capable mare. Think she’ll be a really nice acquisition for the region and can be competitive from 1100 to 1600. Provided she isn’t shuffled too far back into the field she’ll be working home strongly late. PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC will win one eventually. He’s a Kalgoorlie specialist, he’s a great apprentice’s horse and with the 4kg Sharni Webster claim he’ll find the right race soon. SO LIKEABLE has no weight and rolls along at his own tempo. WESTERNIZE gets weight relief. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – CATEGORY THREE WIN RACE 4 THATSTHEWAYILIKEIT finished off well first-up behind Science Degree in a key form reference race. There’s plenty of speed in this and that should suit her. She’ll be the second elect of the Fernie runners in the market but don’t think there’s much between them ability wise. AMERICAN THIGHS is that stablemate but has a really tricky draw? FLOBA won a C2 at the end of last preparation and then had one single run in Esperance when runner-up to Elite Fighter who enjoyed a really good season in the Bay Of Isles. THE LIONS GATE a watch fresh. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – THATSTHEWAYILIKEIT WIN RACE 5 BEAU TALK ran second to Blazing Emerald (since won a 66+ in town) in a C3 at Pinjarra only three starts ago. Since then was $21 into $9.50 in a 60+ Graduation when handing up mid-race and then last Saturday was $51 into 13 when racing wide throughout. He’s now on the back-up, into a country C2 and can hold the top. Like. SNIPPERANDO can bounce back out of her Oaks performance. MILITARY ACTION had to sustain a run last week and was really impressive. ON JUST TERMS bolted in her maiden and Tash Faithfull would have had options here. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – BEAU TALK WIN RACE 6 SURE THING is more than capable of working his way through the grades in Kalgoorlie and these Provincial Championship Heats are a great set up for him. He’s a high speed, high pressure animal who wasn’t disgraced behind Canny Rock considering he eyeballed two time subsequent winner Nobellity from the 800. SECRET ATTIRE is first-up no trial and again we trust in the booking of Tash Faithfull to be on the best of Fernie’s. SCIENCE DEGREE will work his way through the grades this campaign. Does he lead Sure Thing or let him go? NATURAL GEM has won back to back races in Kalgoorlie, but this is definitely harder. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SURE THING WIN RACE 7 PRIZED JEWEL is deep into her campaign but continues to get back and really attack the line with vigour. This looks another winnable race for her and from the barrier hopefully Chris Nicoll can have a few behind him in running and allow the mare to wind up through her gears late. ZEBEDEE SPRINGS steps up in grade but gets massive weight relief. Dangerous with a late split. RULING DAME is just grinding. She’s making hard work of it late in her races. KAKADU has bounced between 58+ and 70+ racing for years. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRIZED JEWEL WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,7 1 1,4,5 5,6,8 Market Market
