Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on October 11, 2024October 11, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AMARLIME ran a belter on debut behind Ron’s Finalflutter when drawing wide and settling at the rear of the field before rattling to the line. Drawn wide again which is always a concern but hard to miss the run in replay and hard not to follow her here to Geraldton. JUST GIFTED is through the same race and that is the obvious form reference. She jumped $3.70 that day so will be understandably popular again. BIG BOPPER went out hard and fast first-up and only faded late. Improves for the run. MYSTERY MINUTE was fair at trials and on debut. Numbers: 12 – 13 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – AMARLIME WIN RACE 2 MYTHICAL DREAM should have gone close first-up behind Amazing Cheat, a race that has already produced a winner in Smart Shadow. She was held up repeatedly in the home straight with nowhere to go and was still beaten less than 3L. Her lead up trial was encouraging and the Michael Grantham yard has been on fire for months. ELEGANT INDI trialled well behind Magnique who nearly won on debut in a sharp maiden at Northam. Danger. FORBIDDEN APPLE ran well back on the grass and now has shades on. IL BELLO BEALS won the barrier trial on opening day and looks like he’ll get out over a bit of ground in time. Numbers: 8 – 12 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – MYTHICAL DREAM WIN RACE 3 QUEEN NARDI returns to Geraldton where she is 3 from 3 undefeated, has Lucy Fiore jumping aboard and has a set of blinkers added to her race gear. Coming back to 1400m is the query but she’s versatile and considering this race is without an obvious leader she may be able to roll forward. COSTA DEL SANTO won a C3 at Bunbury only four starts back and since has finished midfield in C5 company which is stronger than what he meets here. THE RUSH let rip with a big turn of foot to win at the opening meeting and if she reproduces will be hard to hold out. NEW MUSIC wasn’t disgraced first-up over 1200m at Belmont on a Saturday. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – QUEEN NARDI WIN RACE 4 SNIPPY WHICH like Queen Nardi in the previous has a set of shades added and comes out of strong metro races. Bravo Centurion / Toropa / Miss Flirtacious are all brilliant names to be wheeling out as form references for a 70+ at Geraldton on a Sunday afternoon. Ready to win. PATCHWORK took full advantage of a wonderful ride from Jade McNaught first-up. Showed a great turn of foot and put the race away impressively over the concluding stages. Should only be improving into the campaign too. STARCHIENNE is better than what she produced at Belmont. WHAT A PRINCE ran second in the Batavia Sprint and won the Geraldton Cup in 2023. He’s a ripper. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – SNIPPY WHICH WIN RACE 5 KING AKEED won his maiden at Northam beating Just Leroy who came out and won at his next outing and since then he’s contested 2x 60+ Graduations at Belmont. This is far easier, he just needs to overcome a really tough draw. LA DETTE has to carry weight but is drawn to get every favour in running and even though she didn’t beat a runner home at trials she was still only 3.5L off Cosmic Crusader who races in a 66+ at Ascot on Saturday. SAFE HUSTLE found the line nicely behind Justhandy first-up and now drops in grade. FINANCE LEGEND can show some toe. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – KING AKEED WIN RACE 6 FIRST BEACH was purchased at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for $320,000 and made his racing debut in Victoria finishing third in a Cranbourne maiden before transferring across to WA and joining Michael Grantham. Won well first-up, the second filly won at York Thursday (at $1.20) and now he heads to the Ladies Day Sprint at Geraldton and looks hard to beat. Nice horse. LOOKS is jump and run and will be in front for a long way. Hard to run down. WELL PLAYED worked her way through the grades impressively last campaign. JUSTHANDY won powerfully fresh. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – FIRST BEACH WIN RACE 7 SIMPLY THINKIN’ finished second to Great Fortune (since won a 60+ Graduation and races at Ascot on opening day) and third behind Be Bardot (races opening day at Ascot). C3 metro racing back into a C2 in the country and a mare who can wind up with a powerful turn of foot. They made ground at Geraldton at the opening meeting and if they can on Sunday she’ll be hard to hold out late. SABINO never got a crack at them at any stage in the home straight last start after meeting with plenty of support in betting. Forgive, forget and now with Troy Turner on is worth consideration. SKY VIEW and MOONIEMIA were both held up as well. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet – SIMPLY THINKIN’ WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,5,6 1,3,5 3,7 1,11 Market Market
