Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 24, 2020December 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SUPER BON was solid at his WA debut when narrowly defeated by La Chaive. Last start ran fifth after failing to find a position in running when wide the trip. Popcorn Tender had strong metro 2 year old form so that should hold up as a form reference race. NOBEL STAR comes up to Geraldton, backs up off 7 days and Clint Johnston-Porter makes a rare venture to the country. Catches the eye on paper. REDHEAD RITCHIE comes from an extremely strong Saturday 3 year old 1000m race back into a Geraldton maiden. DELAGO DEHERO is racing well and should find the top. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – SUPER BON WIN RACE 2 STELLA FAIR has only been to the races once when running eight but within 2.5L of Dad’s Bigheaded, Sunset Cruise, Kallaroo, Isopoda and Miyagi who are all subsequent winners. That race has produced 37 runs for 4 metro wins, 2 provincial wins and 8 provincial placings. Strong form for a Geraldton maiden. ALL IN RED ran second first-up at 1400m when finishing within a half length of Time Starts Now, beating home New Princess in the process. Should only improve fitness wise and from the inside gate can either lead them or sit box seat. LEAD GUITAR went close to knocking off Popcorn Tender last start. Great return. RUNBABE gets back in her races but finishes off well. Numbers: 12 – 9 – 8 – 8 Suggested Bet – STELLA FAIR WIN RACE 3 DIVIDE THE SEA was disappointing at his return to racing. Ran a moderate fifth after looming as the winner but failing to level out and finish off. Drops back to 1100m but willing to follow-up because his top end 3 year old metro form was super. M’LADY has to lump a massive 62kg but she is jump and run and absolutely thrives at Geraldton. If she leads she can win. RIVAROLA and SCOTOPIA are both going great guns for Sean Rains and can win more races respectively. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – DIVIDE THE SEA WIN RACE 4 A STEAMY AFFAIR broke her maiden three starts ago this track and distance. Since then she has raced in 58+ and 64+ grade including a second placing to Trade Thunder and a fourth behind Sakarya, Proxy and Strong Heart. Back in trip, back in grade she should prove hard to hold out. TIME STARTS NOW broke through last start and looks more than capable of winning back to back races. UNDER THE ARCHES finds it hard to win but she hasn’t put a foot wrong since joining Gordon Spowart. SIGNIFICANT HERO (right horse #bobnames) capable of improving out in trip. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – A STEAMY AFFAIR WIN RACE 5 TRADE THUNDER is an emerging staying talent and expecting with the weight pull on Sakarya that Madi Derrick likely pours on the early pressure in an attempt to cross and find the top. SAKARYA steps out again in trip after being tested at 1925m last time out and coming through with flying colours winning by 2.5L eased down. Troy Turner was able to steal the race after setting a midrace tempo some 11L slower than average to the 1300m. This looks a touch tougher. STRONG HEART was finishing off alright last start and is a proven stayer. PROXY lands close handy and runs a race. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – TRADE THUNDER WIN RACE 6 HE’S ALL MIGHTY looks awfully hard to beat, even with the 62kg impost. Was a big winner from back in the field on Melbourne Cup day when nailing talented sprinter Beau Zoom. Since then has raced in C3 and 60+ company when far from disgraced. Will need an uninterrupted run but the most recent race form behind Bee Quick, Morgs Freeman and Amelia Bedelia stands out head and shoulders above rivals. SO SWAY is lightly raced and while he has weight to carry he went well in his initial campaign. HAYSTACKS may have needed the run fresh but draws horribly. OLIVIA KNOWS isn’t quite finishing off her races. Travels the winner. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – HE’S ALL MIGHTY WIN RACE 7 MYCROFT has been a revelation this preparation and is in arguably career best form. Troy Turner is again dominating Geraldton, Gordon Spowart shows no signs of slowing down and continues to wheel out winners and for this horse to drop back to 1200 last start and still win shows just how well he is going. ANGRY ANNIE is fool proof when they come to Geraldton. She sits right over the speed, she gives an almighty kick and is tough in the finish. With Madi Derrick’s claim she gets in with a very winnable weight. Interesting to see how she goes at 1400m. QUALITY FAIR doesn’t know he is 10 years old. Racing full of heart. HOT STYLE was an impressive return to racing. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – MYCROFT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,6,8 1,3,5 1 1,4,5 Market Market
