Ray Malpass has given her a 7 week freshen and she comes back to 1000m after placing last start at a mile. She’s got the speed to offset the wide draw and there’s very little depth here. SLOGITSON hasn’t run a placing in 10 outings but his recent efforts behind Bolta and Hero Of The Dawn have been clear improvements. AND THEN WHAT and HARRY THE PRINCE both come through the same trial and hit the line together after And Then What missed it significantly. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – FAIR GRACE WIN RACE 2 MAGIC OF ZEUS had his first start back at Carnarvon a fortnight ago when contesting a 68+ 1600m finishing fourth behind Regal City, Who’s Your Mama and Set The Scene. This is a big class drop into a 56+ and after the Cooper Claim he looks really well placed and weighted. Hard to hold out. HEAR MY PRAYER has been trying hard all season without pinching one in Broome. Those races have far more depth than this. SLY AS A FOX gets Faithfull and has been attacking the line. LET’S ERUPT has turned a corner. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – MAGIC OF ZEUS WIN RACE 3 REGAL CITY, WHO’S YOUR MAM and SET THE SCENE ran the trifecta last start over 1600m and meet again a fortnight later over an extra 100. With the barrier changes, the weight swings and the rider changes going to suggest that SET THE SCENE can turn the tables here. Can sustain a run, loves the Carnarvon dirt and importantly Sean Rains calls on Tash Faithfull. That’s the big tipping point. REGAL CITY rolls straight to the top again and will no doubt be hard to get past. WHO’S YOUR MAMA can sit on his tow ball throughout. OMBUDSMAN brings the X-Factor with Cups form from Broome. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SET THE SCENE WIN RACE 4 DARK CITY won NW Horse Of The Year and is lightning quick. From barrier 1 expect that Jess Gray is desperate to ensure he kicks through to lead and while he has 63kg he’s still going to command plenty of respect. He won over 1100m with 63kg at Broome back in June and he beat Hide The Oreo’s that day who went on a winning spree thereafter. SAINTLY CITY is 3 from 3 undefeated at the Carnarvon 1000. He’s just as quick and has 8kg in his advantage. GOLDEN FIGHTER was just unable to get past him last start in a two horse war. GINGER JONES next best. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – DARK CITY WIN RACE 5 COMPAK brings alternate form through racing at Roebourne, Port Hedland and Marble Bar. He is rock hard fit, he has a positive racing pattern and he gives 110%. He and THE COOLAKIN KING hit the line together at Roebourne on 27 July and this time around COMPAK draws inside of him. THE COOLAKIN KING can be forgiven for his last start flop at Port Hedland. Leaders who don’t find a prominent position on the dirt often go poorly. So forgive and forget. WISE WORDS won three on the bounce before dropping back to 1000 and finding Saintly City / Golden Fighter too sharp. MOORUMBINE is a model of consistency. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – COMPAK WIN RACE 6 ORISTANO is going super on the dirt. First-up got run off his legs at his first attempt on the surface (forgive), second-up he was a big winner of the Minilya Sprint beating some quality types including subsequent winners Regal City and Crystal Vain, and third-up he finished second behind The Chief Justice in a race that was dominated from the front. Going great guns. DASHING IMAGE comes into this on the fresh side after finishing second to stablemate Ginger Jones (races in R4) and at his best he’s capable of lumping the 62kg to victory. PASSPORT again has 63kg and barrier 11. Same as last start. LOOKING GREAT a big improver if jumping.
