Scott Embry’s Sunday Carnarvon Preview Posted on August 2, 2024August 2, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HIDDEN EMPIRE brings handy provincial maiden form to the region . 3L off Undercover Sniper down the 1000m straight tat Pinjarra two back isn’t an bad effort and he looks like he’s got the tactical speed to be put into a position. Going to roll the dice with him at his first start for new trainer Brock Lewthwaite. MARCHING is a jump and run type. He pushed Bolta up the straight last start. Just could be vulnerable last 100m. HERO OF THE DAWN was excellent in that same race. Is a 20 start maiden but it was a near career best effort. KING OF FRANCE a watch. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – HIDDEN EMPIRE WIN RACE 2 CASTILLO DEL LAGO is yet to be ridden for speed – could that be the case on Sunday? There doesn’t look to be that much tempo in this relatively small field and in a world where he found the front he would be very hard to beat. Actually found the line alright in the Passport race last start when settling off speed. ALL BRAVE has been a great find for his new owner. Model of consistency and gives 110%. MAN FROM MEMPHIS gets a 3.5kg weight swing on him for a 1L margin when they last met with Chanel Cooper going on. WHO’S YOUR MAMA is rarely far from the action. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – CASTILLO DEL LAGO WIN RACE 3 CRYSTAL VAIN went into the Minilya Sprint with 64kg and was still extremely popular in betting. He parked up outside of Regal City, attacked him on straightening but in the end the weight got hold of him and he faded back to fourth. Back to 1400 – tick, down 3.5kg in weight – massive tick and can park out three deep and work into this. Can bounce straight back. REGAL CITY was brave in that same race. He nabbed in the shadows after shaking off Crystal Vain half way up the straight. MIR is a query at 1400m but is flying on the dirt. MARXIAN was doing his best late. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – CRYSTAL VAIN WIN RACE 4 ORISTANO was the beneficiary of a hot early speed battle in the Minilya Sprint and was able to sprint right over the top to take out the feature event. Arguably better suited over 1400m on the dirt considering his racing pattern and now that he’s found his feet he should be able to go on with it. PASSPORT has won his last two outings this track/distance/grade/hoop. Up to 63kg now is the testing point. MOORUMBINE ran really well at his first attempt at 1400. THE CHIEF JUSTICE will be on another jump and run mission. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – ORISTANO WIN RACE 5 BELLA EVE was a huge run in defeat behind Calico Kid last start. Risky following up on a back marking type but in a race without much tempo thinking that three deep building into the race from the 800 might be the best spot in running. WAR TACTICS has shades on but always wary of horses drawn 1 at Carnarvon that are not leaders. STRUCK BY LUCK was a real handful behind the barriers at his first start in Carnarvon. Benefits from the experience on the dirt and can settle closer (if A) loading; and B) jumping). WESTERN IMPACT did it a bit tough last start. Prior two were encouraging. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – BELLA EVE WIN RACE 6 TEST OF STRENGTH has found a nice race heading back to Carnarvon now that the Roebourne season has finished up. He’s 3/3 undefeated at the 1200m and is more than capable of winding up over them here in what looks an open event. Clearly not racing at the same level he was 12 months ago but still sneaks back into a 56+. BOLTA broke his maiden at $1.18. Wasn’t exactly convincing but he did what he had to do. TINY’N’TUFF is loving life on the dirt, especially with no weight on her back. TORPEDOMAN could be hard to catch if he was to cross and break them open midrace. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – TEST OF STRENGTH EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,3,4,5 1,3,4,10 1,3,8 4,5,6,8 Market Market
