Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on December 5, 2025December 5, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SUNSET SESSION ran second on debut down the 1000m straight in a 3 year old Plate behind Perth Stakes winner Castle Road, who actually goes around on Saturday at Ascot and will be $3.50-$4 chance. Form is on the board, trialled up well and is drawn a gate to sit close handy. Looks hard to beat. WHY SHE STAYED gave a stack of cheek last start and gave those who put Conchetta’s Dream in multi’s a heart attack the 200. Deserves to win one. DUST ASIDE showed plenty of speed on debut at Pinjarra down the straight as a 2 year old and has again showed jump and run talent at trials. Like the shades coming off too. TENNESSEE SPIRIT has gone under at $1.45 and $1.80 in two runs to date. She’s clearly got ability but she’s got another tricky gate to navigate. Forward or back? Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet: SUNSET SESSION WIN RACE 2 AWESOME FORCE ran two handy races as a 2 year old behind Baby Pearl over 1000 at Bunbury and Twisted Steel over 110m at Northam. Just didn’t look a natural 2 year old type and more of a horse who would appreciate both time and a bit more ground. Loved the first-up run behind Nintymilestraight (since placed to Hot and High) and the step to 1695m looks perfect. LOVE OF FAR FA continues to knock on the door. Placed at 1705 to progressive staying 3 year old Malagarasi and then placed behind Herault and Vexatious Rose. That Herault/Vexatious Rose form didn’t stack up on Sunday which is a concern. REGAL BOY kept coming under pressure last start but will again end up a long way off them. SIN CITY BOY is whacking away and looking a bit one paced. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet: AWESOME FORCE WIN RACE 3 MAGIC CARATS pulled out a monster run first-up behind Solo Vega at 20-1 at Bunbury over 1200m. The step to 1400m looks in his favour and hoping it wasn’t just a flash in the pan run and that he can reproduce second-up. LORD MOMO wouldn’t have seen Cannykev with a periscope in his first trial and then was a huge improver in his second trial (which was also an open trial, not a maiden trial). SWISHGOBANGO raced 5x as a 2 year old. Looks to have benefitted from the spell and Tommy Wolfe’s horses are going super on their home track. EXTREME RULER has run into horses with far more ability than most of his rivals here over recent runs. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet: MAGIC CARATS WIN RACE 4 BULLETIN BEAU clearly has issues being a 5 year old at only start number two but he’s got some talent. Beat Deferred by nearly 3L in a trial, beat Asphalt by nearly 2L in a trial, ran second to Nine Ball in a trial and at the races has finished second on both occasions to Mighty Hosanna and Bundaberg. First-up, no trial this time around and trusting that Team Witten have him ready to go. Like the horse. OFFSHORE looks the big danger. Ran second over 1000m on two occasions when last in work and looked good in her recent trial win at Belmont. MR KARADEC hails from an in form stable and has improved at each and every trial. HOPE TO ADMIRE will get every chance along the fence and has been solid in most runs across his career. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet: BULLETIN BEAU WIN RACE 5 MANTUA has been threatening to win a race for a month or two now. He placed to Rolling Ruler in a 60+ Grad, he placed to The Calabrese in a 0MWLY and then most recently placed to talented and emerging South West mare Galway Shawl. Ready to win and this looks a weaker race than last start. Should be very hard to beat. LEMMOR is still a maiden racing in a C1, however, her minor placings to Sherpa Express and Surfside Session are both easily good enough to take this out. TROPICAL SUN is back to 1000m which doesn’t make the task easy. She’ll need some luck from three back the fence. IF I DIN HAVADIME has shades re-attached and did most of her racing in Westspeed and C5 company last prep. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet: MANTUA WIN RACE 6 TAKE A LEAF has been a bit of a surprise packet (against her SP profile at least) in her two runs so far. On debut she caught the eye at double figures and then second-up she was sent out 20-1 and descended upon them down the middle of the track. Goes from 52kg to 56kg with Chanel Cooper suspended and the senior rider going on but this isn’t a deep C1 and she might just be above average? JAZALOT resumed without a trial and closed the gap to under 4L on the post behind Return of the Mach. Liked the run. GOD’S GRIN fell in at Geraldton but can park up on speed here. RIVER ANGEL stretches to 1400m which might be an ask? Numbers: 10 – 2 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet: TAKE A LEAF WIN RACE 7 THREE GRAND is a sharp mare when she’s right and Steve Burton seems to have her figured out now. Madi Derrick will need to put the foot down the get across but she actually seems to go better the faster the races are run. Her high cruising speed is her strength. IMAPAGETHREE GIRL has a good fresh record, has trialled really nicely ahead of her return, is drawn well and Mack Hall’s yard just continues to go from strength to strength. LENIENCY was once a 66+ / 72+ Saturday horse. He’s now a 6 year old who is closing in rapidly on 900 days since last win, however, he returns to Colin Webster and he has trialled really well. A big fresh run wouldn’t surprise at all. STORM LORD loves York/Narrogin but is in a rich vein of form. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 14 Suggested Bet: THREE GRAND WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,9 1,5 2,7,10 1,4,7,14 Market Market
