Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 5, 2025December 5, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TRIO actually trialled super behind Western Empire and London’s Image leading into this campaign and then has taken a few runs to find his feet, however, his most recent start behind Noteworthy in a 72+ 1400 was a sharp improvement when Billy Egan went on and now Nash Rawiller gets a god. He’s drawn to get the right run and has just as much firepower as the stablemate and will be a better price. ROYAL TORONADO looked like he was going to chime in and run on by last weekend but hit a brick wall with 50m to go and peaked on his run badly. Backing up and Pike will keep him short in betting. BLAZING EMERALD held her own last week. She’s trying hard. CORRECT CHOICE is drawn sticky and could get posted in the small field? Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRIO WIN RACE 2 ACE QUEEN SUITED was a really good trial. She actually jumped alright but was quickly restrained and settled back in field before sustaining an impressive run over the top of a few key rivals who she meets here on race day. Interesting to see whether Brad Parnham tries to go forward on debut or lets her find her feet and tries to ride her in the same way she won her trial. Either way, looks a nice filly. RED LARK went around in a Crystal Slipper on debut and there’s nothing wrong with finishing 3.7L behind undefeated stablemate Beatty. PROPERATA led in that trial and was only gobbled up late. He’s got the natural jump and run ability to be there for a long way. PARMALEE can use the fence to advantage and Steve Wolfe usually wins an early 2 year old race most years. Looked professional enough at Lark Hill. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – ACE QUEEN SUITED WIN RACE 3 ROCKING SOCIETY hasn’t quite found his form just yet this campaign but at the same time, don’t think he’s going as bad as it might read on paper. First-up beaten 1L at 1600m, second-up didn’t look to handle York, third-up got shuffled a long way back in a race dominated close to the speed. Fourth-up, senior rider on, blinkers on, drawn a gate, eachway price. Going again. GRAND RESERVE caught the eye last week and now on the 7 day spin he gets out to his preferred distance and a senior goes on. SUMMER’S LEGACY is screaming out for the 2200. She was never in a winnable position last week and her prior win three deep the trip over the speed was gritty. MAJOR MARIO has always been underrated throughout his career. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROCKING SOCIETY EACHWAY RACE 4 STORM AWAY was a super return in the Max Simmonds at 1000 behind Talkanco and Luana Miss. Blinkers on to sharpen him up looks an astute move. Looks to be a stack of speed with Wiluna Lass, Paint It Red, Now You See Me and Castle Road all likely to lock horns and that allows Holly Watson to sneak up in behind. CASTLE ROAD has ‘flopped’ every time he’s been to 1200m and every other run of his career has been elite. Back into 3 year old SWP conditions, great (necessary) use of the 3kg claim for ZJP and back to 1000m where he is 3 from 3 (including one down the straight at Pinny). BABY PEARL has also gone to a Placid Ark Prelude and a Placid Ark and been found out at that level. ROSTISLAV has X-Factor and a turn of foot but he’ll likely conceded them a head start? Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – STORM AWAY WIN RACE 5 SILVER EYE has been going well all preparation and the only ‘below par’ run has been in the Batavia Sprint. Take that away and he has beaten Immortal Bliss, matched motors with Kay Tee Why and Too Dardy, ripped home in a race where they broke 1:09 and last weekend finished off strongly behind Cessation and talented sprinter September Born. 1400m is an unknown but you’re getting eachway in a Pay 1-2-3. SHMOOV MOOVA will divide opinions. He has been costly to punters of recent times and while there’s been excuses (didn’t handle wet tracks and then wide throughout fresh) it’s time to stand up. Shades on first time says the stable think the same. WITHOUT REG was fighting out of his weight division in the Carbine Club but wasn’t bad considering. Back to his right grade. FLY WITH CAUTION races over the speed and is mapped to get across. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – SILVER EYE EACHWAY RACE 6 AUTO CRUISE put the writing on the wall in the Heat behind Bartime. She got a long way back, got wide on straightening and savaged the line both visually and sectionally. She’s finished in the Top 2 at each of her four starts and looks like she’s going to make into quite a nice horse (which isn’t something usually said about Westspeed Platinum horses). Provided she gets a clear crack at them she looks hard to beat. BARTIME is a different horse at 1400m and a different horse with galloping room. Expect Austin Galati burns early to get across. HAMMARMILL has returned in good order and having easily qualified must have deliberately raced last week to back up into this. DESERT DANCING caught the eye at her return and has been kept fresh for the Final. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – AUTO CRUISE WIN RACE 7 OUR PALADIN AL went from a maiden to a C3 to a 60+ Graduation to an Aquanita Stakes all in the one campaign when last in work. Has been given a decent spell by trainer Russel Stewart and is produced here first-up, no trial at 1400m in a 60+ Grad. Last time he raced at this level he was smashed in betting and was enormous behind the subsequent Aquanita & Classic winner Arcadia Park. Nice horse. RALLY THE TROOPS trialled really well and then got himself into all sorts of bother at his return. Looks like he’ll bounce out into a position close handy in a race devoid of much speed. HARD SOLO ran out of her skin in the Placid Ark and then was set a task 7 days later in the WA Guineas. REDBACK FLYER might need further but watch for him late. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 15 – 3 Suggested Bet – OUR PALADIN AL WIN RACE 8 BUCKETS RIDGE was $31 into $14 in the AJ Scahill Cup and with clear galloping room at a crucial stage in the home straight arguably wins? He actually wasn’t too bad in the Eurythmic first-up even only beating one horse home, then second-up settled back under 59kg in a race that wasn’t run to suit him and then third-up well he was luckless. Billy Egan sticks and he’s going as well as many of the fancies. FOREVER BOY is the new kid on the block and won soft last week. Looks the progressive horse headed towards the Cup. He’s the one the market will want. CAPTAIN PLUTO was worried out of it last start? Looked to have the race shot to pieces at the 200m and then couldn’t put Simply away. DEMOLISH is flying this campaign. Both runs enormous. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – BUCKETS RIDGE EACHWAY RACE 9 KING OF LIGHT is looking to add his name to a list that includes Playing God, Ihtsahymn, Perfect Reflection, Arcadia Queen, Kay Cee and Amelia’s Jewel as a 3 year old to beat the older horses in Ascot’s Group One 1800m WFA feature. He’s now 5 from 5 undefeated and his win in the WA Guineas was that of a proper horse. He’s got 52kg, he’ll blend in midfield with cover and he’s got gears when Pike opens him up. Think he stays undefeated. He’s a star. WESTERN EMPIRE is a $3,000,000 earner and gets a 4kg weight swing on Watch Me Rock from the Railway Stakes where he tried to defy history as Top Weight in a race dominated by those at the bottom end of the scale. Was super. COSMIC CRUSADER is the unknown element. He would have jumped favourite in the Railway and his Carbine Club rating suggests it would have been justified. DEPTH OF CHARACTER sat four deep the trip in the Railway and yet ran the fastest L200? Huge. Numbers: 15 – 1 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – KING OF LIGHT WIN RACE 10 JAZ SESSION is just a wonderful race mare. She’s a 1000m specialist, she travels strongly in her races and yet she still has a kick afterwards too. She’ll use her barrier to advantage and they’ll turn the speed on for her behind Sinful Living, Desert Whisper, Richanco and Devine Belief. She’ll settle in front of her main danger and give you a wonderful run for your money on the eachway. BLACK ORA has come back bigger and better as a 4 year old mare. She’s holding her form and she’s got a great turn of foot when saved up. Perfect Pike horse. RICHANCO is three from three undefeated fresh but this is his acid test. DEVINE BELIEF ran second to Rope Them In at SWP last campaign. Respect that. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – JAZ SESSION EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 2,8,15 1,2,4,6,10,12,15 1,11,15 9,10 Market Market
