Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 5, 2025December 5, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LATORIO gave short priced favourite God’s Grin a real scare late last start. She’s again drawn wide and will again get back but it’s hard to ignore the amount of ground she was able to make up. Meryl Hayley has been dominating Gero and Tash Faithfull rides the track as well as anyone. EXTRA ZERO has become both frustrating and costly. He’s now a 16 start maiden who has had four runs in Geraldton and been a beaten favourite under $2.50 on three of those occasions ($4.20 the other). There’s huge trust issues with him and while 1100 to 1600 is an aggressive step it might mean he can roll to the top? TRULY SUPREME nearly ran down Cantilever last start and will get a gun run. BLOOD SAINT ran well last start. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – LATORIO WIN RACE 2 CALEB had one start for Adam Durrant at Pinjarra back in April as a 2 year old and then was immediately tipped out. Hits Geraldton as a 3 year old maiden and has been given time since the barrier trial win over Big Bopper. Winnable maiden and likely to go around an eachway price. DASHING DIVA ran well at Northam behind Gabex when caught off the track and covering a stack of additional ground and then was sent out a $1.80 chance at Narrogin. The winner destroyed them (Gangajang) so the margin was exaggerated but she still ran below expectation. SUMMER MOOD is now a 14 start maiden but her two runs this preparation have been solid. AUBURN brings intrigue at his WA debut. Numbers: 6 – 11 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – CALEB EACHWAY RACE 3 IN SITU was all the rage on debut but didn’t really turn up. Made amends for it second-up with a strong maiden win and gave the impression that he was a 3 year old who could work through his grades in one preparation. Nice stepping stone this. TRULY GALLANT has only had three starts in his life and is yet to miss the Top 2. The full brother to Kingston Town Classic winner Truly Great is improving with each run and Be My Belle was solid in defeat in a C2 at the last meeting so there’s no issue with the form, the query is 1600 back to 1200 under 61kg? LIVE LUCKY has been disappointing this campaign so far but the 58+ run behind Southern Scandal was a marked improvement. QUINDANDINO need a bit of luck. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – IN SITU WIN RACE 4 SOUTHLAND will work his way through C2 to 58+ to 70+ company and may even find himself in Perth at some stage. He’s really talented and he put an extending margin on them first-up. Will get a very similar run here and expect he’ll measure up. Would prefer him off fence but that’s for Madi Derrick to figure out! SOUTHERN SCANDAL is the obvious threat on paper and a legitimate danger, especially if Jefferson Tsang is allowed to cross comfortably without burning too much fuel. Dominant last start win. SPARKLE CORNER heads home to Ron Cowl (Jnr) and can park up close handy. THE RUSH ran well first-up without a trial and should come on. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – SOUTHLAND WIN RACE 5 ON THE MARK is on the edge (past the edge) of needing to go to Perth and race in 66+/72+ to get some much deserved weight relief. He ran second to Zing To Win under 62kg after covering a stack of ground and then ran second to Supersession in the Batavia Sprint. He’s actually been very generously dealt with by the handicapper having not received a country ratings point for either of those runner-up performances and that makes him very hard to beat here. PRINCE RAGNAR is jump and run. He’ll pinch a race this season when conditions suit. BIN SHALAA has grass form and isn’t just a dirt conveyance. Don’t discount her. DIVINE INANNA has to come back to 1100m which is the query. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ON THE MARK WIN RACE 6 MASTER ALEX is going super for Meryl Haley and she’s been able to offset the fact that Laqdar Ramoly is riding at Ascot by booking the State’s best country hoop in Tash Faithfull. He’s a get back, run on style of galloper and this step to 1600m looks ideal. Didn’t run out a strong 1900 two back and then did a great job to get within 2L of Snippety Legend from a mile off them last start. YALLINGUP GIRL was well found in betting stepping to 1600m last start and after leading at a strong tempo just never lay down. Looks the way to ride her. SANABEAU gets right down to 52kg after the claim. MIFF MUFFERED MOOF seemed to appreciate the new racing pattern. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – MASTER ALEX WIN RACE 7 BOUSSAC is one start away from going in the bin forever. He has amazingly jumped under $5 in each of his 15 starts and he’s only won the singular race! He’s had a few hard luck stories across his career but most of them have been his own fault. You can sense the frustrating building and now that he’s into a Geraldton C2 it’s his final opportunity. Brave to be getting too involved in him at likely ~$2.10/2.20? But boy it’s a soft race for him. SCURGEOFTHEWEST looks like the only other runner that will be in single figures in what looks a dead set match race between the pair. He’s run honest minors in both outings this prep. SPECIAL PLAN has met with support in betting a bit recently. WASN’T ME the best of the roughies. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – BOUSSAC WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5,7 1 4,7 3,4 Market Market
