Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on January 7, 2022January 10, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 URBAN WARRIOR was very well commissioned last start at Mt Barker when narrowly defeated by Divine Mercy who had put the writing on the wall at his previous start behind Knot Secret and Acting God. That should prove strong enough form to break through here. SNIPPAGEM will attract a lot of attention with W.Pike riding. He has a massive book on the program and could conceivably kick home three, four or five winners. Dangerous on the quick back up. NATURAL MOSS can improve quickly for the new yard after a fair while off. DEADLY AND FAST quickly improved first-up to second-up. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – URBAN WARRIOR WIN RACE 2 EXHALTED ROCKSTAR got the job done in a recent Lark Hill trial under Brad Rawiller and looks poised to go well on debut in an Albany maiden. Certainly didn’t beat much in the trial but with Pike and Blinkers on for his debut he should be around the mark. No real standouts in this and he should go well. SPEEDY PYE was excellent at her return to racing. Sam Faithfull is having a ripper season in the Great Southern so far and this is another potential winner for her small yard. ISHINCA VIEW loomed two starts ago. Earl O’Loughlin will figure her out. KENDELS STORM was a solid debut and should only get better with experience. Numbers: 4 – 13 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet – EXHALTED ROCKSTAR WIN RACE 3 CAPTAIN SHARMANE looks a standout in an Albany C2. Resumed in a C3 at 1000m at Belmont Park and she went around an even money favourite. Drops into a C2, gets out to 1230m and gains the services of William Pike. Has 3 year old form around Timely Outburst, Vane Tempest, Speed Dream, Brooklyn Pier and Time Scale. She should be too classy for her rivals and head back to town. HALATORION gives Roy Rogers a real sniff at a stable quinella. Went to another level last start with a senior rider on and taking a sit. Showed a short, sharp burst of speed. COPPING POINTS gets some much-deserved weight relief with the apprentice going on. BELLE POWER is quick but will she wobble round the corner? Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN SHARMANE WIN RACE 4 DEEL RED won first-up at 1400m at Esperance and then lost the services of Tash Faithfull last start and was beaten a nose by Fair Justice in the shadows of the post. Gets out to 1900m, reunites with Tash Faithfull and now can roll to the top in a race where the only other speed in the race is O’So Tempting. Should either lead or breeze and control the tempo of the race. Love the way he’s going and think the Esperance form will stack up. KAZKAZI hadn’t shown much until last start. Thought he hit the line like a horse who was looking for further and was ready to chime in. EURASIA was solid last start in defeat and the previous form in the metro area is great. SCREAM IN BLUE can stay and is in form. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – DEEL RED WIN RACE 5 CLASSIC MAGNUS had one flop this campaign since joining Peter Western and that was when he took the blinkers off and put visors on. The mare didn’t show up and the blinkers were immediately re-instated last start when she bounced back hard under Kate Southam to score. Jason Whiting gets back on the mare and she can settle right over the speed again and when the likes of Can’t Get Enough, Little Punga and Mr Causeway are engaged she can park just in behind them. SAASMIT has put together two good runs in WA. Like the placement to drop 3.5kg and still get a senior on. MR CAUSEWAY and CAN’T GET ENOUGH both won well last start. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – CLASSIC MAGNUS WIN RACE 6 CHICLETT is another gun ride for W.Pike. Has finished in the money at her last three outings including a second to Classic Rogue in this grade, at this track and at this distance. That was with a 1.5kg claimer and she should only benefit from the engagement of W.Pike. From the barrier she’ll get a lovely midfield run and has a good turn of speed for this class of race. CHASING CHAOS might be 10 years old, but SJ Wolfe has him going as well as ever. He drops 2kg with Tyla Becker going on and he should get through underneath them to settle outside or just off Carolina Reaper. BRAGWELL has almost exclusively metro form against his name. Brilliant placement into a c58+ and looks a massive danger. COMBAT READY is back in form. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – CHICLETT WIN RACE 7 ZIEBELL finished sixth behind Wilchino, Secret Plan, Son Of A God, Triple Missile and Hot Zed and then finished fourth behind Written Matter. The 72+ metro form has a pool of horses who are inside the handicap and emerging through the grade. The Fitzpatrick Plate contains 8 horses who are outside the handicap and so the 59kg he is allocated is very attractive. Jury is out on how well he is going but Brad Rawiller will have him out in front for a long way into the straight. KIA ORA STAR had his first start for Roy Rogers as an 8 year old and he produced him as a winner at 1100. This is a horse in previous campaigns who would have been wheeled out first-up at 1400m. Genius of Roy. HEAVENLY WATERS is aggressive placement. Love it. Drops 6kg and can tow ball Ziebell. HEART OF COEUR will need the leaders to be stopping. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – ZIEBELL WIN RACE 8 ACTING GOD took a long, long while to break his maiden after a string of frustrating placings. Was afforded no favours last start when breaking through after sitting three deep the trip. Has to go to a C2 with only 1kg less in weight but does meet a number of horses who have been caught in this grade for a number of starts. Many of these perennial place getters go to a new level once they work it out. REBEL MAN is going well. Might be looking for further still but should give Maggot Newbold and connections something to cheer for. SUN CHACEN is going along alright. Scratched from Pinjarra Monday to save for this. FRIAR THE GUN has settled in well to her new home. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – ACTING GOD WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,4,5,8,9 2,4,5,8 1,3,7,8,12 1,2,5,7 Market Market
