Scott Embry’s Saturday Pinjarra Preview Posted on February 4, 2021February 7, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WISE CRACKER finished in the money at all four runs last preparation when consistently around the mark in 1200m races on soft tracks. Actually beat home Elite Street on debut and then ran third behind Beat the Bro and Giant Leap at his second outing. David Harrison has a handy strike rate with horses up the Pinjarra straight and she looks a live eachway chance in an open maiden. SUPERLOVE ran third in the same race Wise Cracker ran second behind Lucky Heart. Not much between them. TALLINN was better from off the speed last week and draws ideally out wide. IT’S TIFFS can jump and run against the outside fence. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – WISE CRACKER EACHWAY RACE 2 COUSIN IVAN is perfectly placed by Holly Taylor. The stakes winning 3 year old returned in a 66+ 1400 when he was eye catching from the back of the field behind Cryptic Love and dual subsequent winner Last of the Line. He then stepped toa mile and was caught in no man’s land in a muddlingly run race when running second and losing no admirers. Gets out to a staying trip, draws a gate to do no work in the run and Pike sticks. Plenty of ticks. ABERDEEN QUEEN steps out to a staying trip for the first time in her life but is brilliantly placed back in grade after contesting a G3 and 72+ at her most recent. Due some luck. OUR IDYLL had absolutely no luck in the straight last start. PAMBELLA has been building into the preparation. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 13 Suggested Bet – COUSIN IVAN WIN RACE 3 WAKAN TANKA (yes Wakan Tanka) looks to have found an ideal assignment and should give backers a great eachway sighter. Four starts ago ran second to Distant Trilogy in a 60+, three starts ago ran second to Beat The Bell in a 58+ and then at his last two has finished 7L ninth when sitting back against his usual pattern in a race containing the likes of Cryptic Love, Solaia, Last of the Line, Comfort Me and Cousin Ivan before racing miles outside the handicap in a 72+ and finishing 3.5L off Last of the Line, Red Publisher and Phoneme. Gets the right run and in the right grade. PEPPIJACK will likely sit outside Wakan Tanka or even attempt to cross down to the fence. Loves Pinjarra and the more it rains the better his chances. UNCLE DICK is lightly raced and highly progressive. ZETORIO won a 65+ and drops back to a 60+. Great placement. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – WAKAN TANKA EACHWAY RACE 4 COMFORT ME was a tough watch for backers last start. Well commissioned late in betting ($3.60 into $2.70) and sat leader’s back in what turned into an ugly race, especially for him when unable to obtain any clear running in the home straight until the last 100m when the race was all over. Drops back in grade, carries less weight after the claim of Madi Derrick and provided he gets the luck he didn’t get last start should be going very close. Horse is flying, just needs an ounce of luck for once. GIANT LEAP has put the writing on the wall at two runs back this preparation. The draw makes things interesting and last time Laqdar Ramoly rode him he put him into a position. Every chance of being caught deep the trip in this map. THAT’S FUNNY AZ is a talented front runner who will lead them well into the home straight. Lovely horse for Comfort Me to follow and a legitimate danger. RUM RAKER continues to get under the guard. Handy type. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – COMFORT ME WIN RACE 5 WESTERN RHYTHM is proving a hard mare to catch but she is bursting to win a race. Ran sixth last start but the run was far better than it may look on paper when she was climbing all over them desperately searching for a run in the home straight. Kind of mare you need eachway for but in this field it really should be $5+ the field. Finds another winnable race. DOUBLE SPICE was an alarming drifter first-up but ran up to his impressive trial and got the chocolates. Was a particularly fast run race (5.5L faster than average) so excepting him to remain hard in the market this time round. SCOOTER’S MACHINE is likely to roll forward and sit outside Ginger Flyer. Going well. MINI WINNIE a mad one for novelties. Like to jump north of 50-1 and not impossible. Numbers: 16 – 4 – 8 – 13 Suggested Bet – WESTERN RHYTHM EACHWAY RACE 6 PLETTO is a lightly raced mare who has never missed the money in 8 starts and arguably should have won a few more in her short career. The Pearce Brothers likely targeted this race for a while and her recent trial was soft and impressive when working through her gears nicely. Races in traffic and always needs luck but there is nobody better in heavy traffic than Willie Pike. INDIGO BLUE comes from the same trial and was equally as impressive. Looks to have returned well and looks a genuine chance. BEE QUICK is a new mare under Carleen Hefel. Likely to absorb plenty of pressure in this but capable of doing it at both ends now. PEARLS AND PRAWNS rates particularly well for this and should get the right run. Numbers: 14 – 10 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – PLETTO EACHWAY RACE 7 RESORTMAN is at an interesting point in his career. Jury is now well and truly out whether he is purely a fresh horse or whether he has had a few excuses at his recent runs. Blinkers go on, Chris Parnham goes on and his best performances have been in high pressure races when allowed to sit over the top of the speed and utilise his cruising speed. Let’s see how good he is. CAPTAIN KINK won well at his return and should only improve into the campaign. Highly talented 4 year old who can do it at both ends in his races. WEAPONSON has been flying in unsuitable races and finally draws a gate. BEAUTIFUL MIND was a replay watcher’s delight first-up. Gets back and charges late. Numbers: 11 – 4 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – RESORTMAN WIN RACE 8 SNIPAROOCHY comes into the 2 year old Pinjarra Magic Millions as the undefeated favourite and once the barrier draw was completed she shortened even further and rightfully so. Won with her eyes closed on debut and then had to do it much tougher in the breeze at her second career outing when scrambling home and fending off the late challenge of Ex Sport Man and subsequent winner Hoi An. SJ Miller elected to go back to trials to test the winkers and she smashed the clock in 55.80. The most impressive part of the trial was that she settled under Jason Brown and if she leads and controls her effortless turn of acceleration should see her going very close. EX SPORT MAN ran second to her last start and that’s the obvious form reference. SUCCESS PLAY may settle at the tail but looked all at sea in the breeze last start. SNEAKY CHANCE is a maiden but was a brilliant effort last start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – SNIPAROOCHY WIN RACE 9 GEMMA’S SON is a set weights special on paper. A m84 rater who takes on an average handicap rating opposition of m63. Resumed in a high rating 1000m race when finishing third behind Island Charm and Iseered Iseered who are both in this race but was pulling ground off them late and gets 2.5kg on Iseered Iseered and 3.5kg on Island Charm as well as the services of senior and regular rider Paul Harvey. Drawn a gate to lead or box seat and on weights and measures is the standout. ISEERED ISEERED trialled the house down in blinkers. They go on for his Grand Final. Solid effort first-up when sitting on top of the hot tempo. KEEP YOUR FEET is absolutely flying but can’t draw a gate to save himself. Going much better than a 9 start C1. ISLAND CHARM was simply too good to ignore last start. Recorded a 9.4L PB. Huge. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – GEMMA’S SON WIN RACE 10 LAST OF THE LINE vs MONTELENA with high class supporting acts She’s Alight, Tollman, Luke’s Gold and even an in form Friaresque. They’ve saved the best for last. MONTELENA likely tracks Last of the Line in the run with Last of the Line looking to box seat and Montelena stalking him three back the fence. Siding with MONTELENA who really came of age in the winter and has definitely turned a corner. Her turn of foot is electric and she looks capable of zapping him late if she gets the chance. LAST OF THE LINE has been a brilliant friend of the punters and continues to get better and better with racing. Undefeated off the 7 day back-up and is improving with experience. Simply bullied them last week. SHE’S ALIGHT goes round at eachway prices and continues to win. Impossible to knock her (as I’ve learnt). TOLLMAN is fool proof and doesn’t run bad races. Numbers: 7 – 12 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – MONTELENA WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 3,4,5,9,11,13 1,5 1 6,7,8,12 Market Market
