Scott Embry’s Saturday Leinster Preview Posted on October 19, 2023October 19, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SECOND CHOICE was all the rage last week at Leonora but was unable to get past Leader Bias. Has finished in the money at his last three and his only win was off the 7 day back-up at Laverton. Went well at this track in 2022 and in a very weak race looks the one to beat. Leads and has no excuse. SPLIT SHOT is still a maiden but this is a Class B Trophy Race so you’d nearly argue he’s the danger. OLD TOWN PREDATOR was crunched at odds at Junction and nearly pulled off the plunge. ROMAN DANCER next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SECOND CHOICE WIN RACE 2 JAKE THE PEG ran second to Madame Pro and then second to Spinifex Fairy. Getting closer and closer to breaking through and on the 7 day back-up from Leonora to Leinster looks the hardest to beat. Bounces out into a position over the speed. YOU CAN TELL ME has blinkers coming off. John Reynolds rarely leaves a Leinster meeting without a winner. Big watch. GINGER JIVE has form alongside Jake The Peg and there’s not that much between them. ALLWORKANDNOPLAY will be on a jump and run mission. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – JAKE THE PEG WIN RACE 3 GORGEOUS GUS looks well placed here. Only had two runs in Broome this season, first-up finished second to Prince Saiyan and then was beaten out of sight. Goes well fresh and the fact they’ve booked Simone Altieri rather than claiming looks to be a sign of intent. BITOVEMU won at this meeting last year when leading and winning over 1200m. From the inside gate should kick through and looks hard to beat again 365 days later. WARPIPES is racing well but doing plenty wrong. LEADER BIAS won well last week but this is 5L harder. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – GORGEOUS GUS WIN RACE 4 ROCKING THE MERC was beaten a nose by Rightful Heir last week at Leonora in a 56+ 1600, 7 days later comes back to 1400m, drops 1.5kg and should get another nice run on top of the speed. 12th run of the campaign but shows no signs of training off and won off 6 days in Broome. CIRCUS STAR ran a couple of nice races at Broome this season and no doubt Sean & Jake Casey have been eyeing this meeting off for months with their team. TIME TO THUNDER was alright at Leonora. DENGA tries hard but think 1400 will see him out. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – ROCKING THE MERC WIN RACE 5 MARZIPAN LAD is always a chance at this level, especially if he jumps and can muster through from his inside draw. Clearly Amelia’s Belief is going to be hard to beat but at the end of 1400m is she’s at all vulnerable it’s definitely MARZIPAN LAD who can get over her late. AMELIA’S BELIEF showed last week at Leonora that she doesn’t need to lead to win. Prior to that she had lead and won at Mt Magnet and lead and won at Port Hedland and at Roebourne. Just needs to run out 1400m. WHOS YOUR MAMA can get across from that wide gate. AMBER HIGHWAY is better than his Magnet run. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – MARZIPAN LAD WIN RACE 6 MAGIC OF ZEUS won over 1400m at Junction by 5L, won at Carnarvon at 1200m and then went a month between runs into Leonora when beaten 2.5L into fifth. He’s a 1600m winner at Esperance off a 6 day back-up and he can hold a nice spot from a favourable draw. Looks a fairly open Leinster Cup and he’s one of the main fancies. GOT LUCKY got the better of Looking Great last week (which really hurt) and bagged himself a Leonora Cup. See no reason why he can’t complete the Cups double. LAUTRE had a run on the grass at Kalgoorlie and prior to that ran third in the Mt Magnet Cup. WAR CLASS is always there abouts. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – MAGIC OF ZEUS WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,4 1,2 1,3 1,2,3,7,9 Market Market
