Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on April 1, 2022April 1, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLACK SPIRIT was a half-length slow out of the machine last week and that was enough to allow Total Lockdown to lead, control and kick. First 700m was run 10L slower than average and it was turned into a sit and sprint. Think this filly is a rolling type and so hopefully 7 days later Kyra Yuill can find the front and let her slide through her gears and run them into the ground. We’ll go again. TENNESSEE LANE comes through the same race and finishes 4.5L behind. ILZAAM has been a maiden for a while. Eventually pinches one. SEEKANUGGET next best. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLACK SPIRIT WIN RACE 2 BELLA SPRITE looked to have found a nice race at the opening meeting at the KBRC and the money came for her and was astute. She lead throughout and even copped some pressure from a wayward Spinalong Time in the middle stages. Kicked clear, held on late and 7 days later gets a wonderful chance to do the exact same thing. Leads and runs. FIRST MOMENT was one of the eye catching replay runs of the meeting last week. More experienced apprentice goes on and she’s the big danger. TOWN HALL was too bad to be true last week. John Arthur will bounce back. SHADOW BOOM finished third in a C2 1100 fresh last campaign. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BELLA SPRITE WIN RACE 3 INDIAN CHANT can be a bit of a hard horse to catch, however, if you’re ever going to get him it’s fresh. Has some huge runs against his name first-up and fresh without a trial so going to put our faith in MR Peter Fernie to have him ready to fire. PURE MAGNUS fought back under the 4kg claimer last week and bounding on the lead will look to rinse and repeat. KALLAROO might need the 1400m that’s the only concern with him. Was placed to perfection last start and won well with 62kg. But back to 1200 is the worry. SOLARIZE was disappointing last week. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – INDIAN CHANT WIN RACE 4 GIDDAY TIGER trialled before the opening meeting at the KBRC behind It’s A Lance and Jakestar who are both better quality horses than what he meets here. Thought he held his own in that trial and showed sufficient gate speed to overcome the trick draw. TAHITIAN RED first-up last campaign finished third behind Elite Fighter and My Fury. Had a lot of gear changes through the preparation and transitioned up to Gary Bowen. Produced here first-up, no trial and from the inside gate can sneak up in behind them and make a race of it late. NITRO FRED had genuine excuses last week when copping a decent hip and shoulder from stablemate Spinalong Time. 1200m might stretch him. ISCHINCA VIEW did Ischinca View things last week. Loomed and peaked badly. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – GIDDAY TIGER WIN RACE 5 BORN SPICY has been given a 70 day freshen up by MR Peter Fernie and drops 5kg in weight after the claim for Taj Dyson. Should have sufficient gate speed to either cross and lead, or more likely sit outside of Protected Action in the breeze. From there she’s a live hope. PROTECTED ACTION is particularly well placed into this grade by Ash Grace. Love the use of the Cassey Martinan claim and if he leads he goes close. SNIPPIRANHA couldn’t reel in emerging talent The Verdict last week. Backs up and flashes late. JAKESTAR will be saved for one last crack at them. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – BORN SPICY WIN RACE 6 THE VERDICT looks like being a great pick up for new trainer Nicholas James Thomas. The market showed The Verdict no respect last Saturday with a mystifying drift for the logical winner on paper and she paid a remarkable $8+. Unlikely to see that price again any time soon but for her loyal following we’ll send the folding round again and encouragingly she is 1 from 1 undefeated off the 7 day back-up. Jump, lead, reproduce. DALGARANGA was attacking the line really well in the same race and with the extra 100m and a 2.5kg weight swing will have followers. GLUTEN FREE finds it hard to win but should go well from the breeze. KNIGHT TEMPEST sneaks up along the fence. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE VERDICT WIN RACE 7 IT’S A LANCE is only having his second campaign and third run for Cambana Lodge and we usually see a big spike in their performance after they’ve had a full preparation with the yard. His trial was solid and while he might need further than 1400m he can sprint well fresh. MODERN TIMES has turned a corner. Last two have been super and will find the right race where he can lead and win in the coming meetings, if not on Saturday. LINCOLNS LAW should pick up a C2 at Kalgoorlie sooner rather than later and ran well at the opening meeting. OUR PANDEMONIUM can be hit and miss but on her day she’s a handy mare. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – IT’S A LANCE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,7 1,3,5,6 1 1,2,3,5,7,9 Market Market
