Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 12, 2024January 12, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JURUENA GOLD has had a good preparation this time in and looks ready to win again. Won a C2 1400 five starts back and two starts ago nearly deadheat with Mombasa when they swamped What A Prince in the shadows. Never got into the contest in the Walkaway Cup but the small field suits a horse like him. Austin Galati in a rich vein of form over the last 6 – 12 months in the country. NORTHEAST EAGLE is still a maiden and yet beat them all home in that Walkaway Cup when third behind Uni Queen and Play With Desire. Stays and has 51kg on his back. BLACKWATER BAY is yet to find his feet this campaign. COLOUR ME QUICK can roll to the top and control. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – JURUENA GOLD WIN RACE 2 BONDIS FUTURE had three runs as a 2 year old and ran third on two occasions at Northam in all age maidens behind Saint Eadie, Papavero Princess, Dun With The Blues and Reliable Queen. All good enough form for a Geraldton maiden and trialled well enough recently at Lark Hill. IM ON comes through a fast run Geraldton maiden taken out by Fine Line. Like the map for her and she’s been solid in two runs for Ron Cowl Jnr. RAPID ROCK has form through Bergamo/Torpedoman and most recently Memory Parade and Elite Fashions. Nice set up for him if he can overcome a wide draw. STAY ASTERN was skittled last start. Complete forgive. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – BONDIS FUTURE WIN RACE 3 SIMPLY THINKIN has only been seen once at trials and that was over 950m at Lark Hill when second behind Brazen Empress. That filly of Grant & Alana Williams’ goes around favourite in a maiden at Pinjarra on Thursday and if she was to go well it will look a nice trial form reference for this debutante. LIBERTY DAME has promised to win a maiden ever since arriving in Geraldton. She’s drawn really awkwardly which is the hurdle to overcome. VIKING FOREVER rides the speed and kept fighting last start in a maiden run 3L faster than average. Good signs. HERO IN THE WIND was a nice return from a long absence from the track. Numbers: 14 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – SIMPLY THINKIN’ WIN RACE 4 SAFE HUSTLE and TYCOON DEMON went to the line locked together last start and there was nothing between them. There’s a 1kg weight swing in favour of SAFE HUSTLE but he’s also drawn barrier 11 of 11. Thinking that TYCOON DEMON can continue on his excellent start to his career and win a third race from only five starts. 5 year old in his first preparation of racing – that’s patience that deserves reward! SAFE HUSTLE is every chance of turning the tables if he can overcome that barrier. Julia Martin is having some sort of season. FINE LINE broke her maiden impressively and can measure up. GOLDEN FIGHTER was a nice WA debut and is drawn far better here. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – TYCOON DEMON WIN RACE 5 TOWNSVILLE was much better last start when second to a highly impressive Queen Nardi. They marched along behind Rockin’ The Casbah and TOWNSVILLE went straight past him on straightening but understandably couldn’t go with Queen Nardi late. Thinking that Victoria Corver is likely to land in front this time around and drops from a C2 back into a C1 to suit. Nice race for him. VANMAN comes back into a C1 after racing in 2x 64+ and 1x 58+ over the last three meetings. Has run second in Bar Plates previously so the concussion plates don’t worry quite as much as usual. NEEDS TIME is racing consistently and maps well. DEVIL GIRL looks like she’ll be a nice pick up for Graham Cox. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – TOWNSVILLE WIN RACE 6 LA DETTE jumps off the page here. She won a C1 1400 at Ascot four starts back and since then has finished second in a metro C3 and fourth last start when testing the waters over 1650m. Didn’t see out the trip so she comes back to 1400m, she drops in grade from a metro C3 at Belmont to a country C2 at Geraldton and after the claim for ZJP she stays at a winnable weight (winner with 58.5kg previously). Should be too classy for these. MOONIEMIA can sit up over the speed and has been a model of consistency this campaign. WOJTEK improved sharply last start. SANABEAU gets every favour from barrier 1. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – LA DETTE WIN RACE 7 BOLD PROPHET can be a hard horse to catch but this looks a nice race for him where the main dangers are all drawn awkwardly. Only three starts ago he lead and won a 70+ 1113 and while he hasn’t exactly fired since his last start run when wide the trip had merit and he was only beaten 2.4L in a 70+. Runs for Cassey Martinan and from barrier 5 can settle right up over the speed and stalk Admiral Husson. Right place, right time. SPIRIT MAN will likely be the more popular stablemate but he’s drawn really sticky in barrier 11 and will need an Austin Galati special. ORISTANO got up last start and now that he’s found form should be able to hold it. SIGNIFICANT HERO is never far from the action in this grade. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – BOLD PROPHET EACHWAY RACE 8 WHAT A PRINCE has had an interesting preparation: 1100 to 1213 to 1600 to 1100 to 1400. Think this is about his sweet spot at the 7 furlongs and while he comes back up into 70+ grade he drops a whopping 6kg down to the minimum. Won’t know himself with 54 having carried 59+ at 8 of his last 10 outings. Drawn to get the right run and has shown enough ability to measure up against the Geraldton Open Class horses. BOMBAY STYLE is always hard to toss once he gets to this sort of distance range. TURBO POWER would be hard to get past if Ava Catarino can get him across from out deep. WESTOZI comes back 700m in distance after enduring a tough run at Ascot last start. Numbers: 13 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – WHAT A PRINCE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,5,7,8,10,11 1 1,2,3,4,6,10 1,2,6,8,9,10,13 Market Market
