Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on December 6, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 FEARLESS GENERAL has had 6 starts for Fernie. 2 wins and 4 dead lasts tailed off. His two wins have been fresh and so first-up, no trial might be the best time to give him a crack. PENALTY POINT has raced in higher grade at her last 19 outings. She was fair first-up in a 64+ and Where’s Wally, Bells Tower, Another Demon and Truth and Lies who beat her home are far superior opponents to this. LUNA ROSSA is finally starting to put it together. SOUTHERN WARRIOR loves Esperance. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – FEARLESS GENERAL WIN Race 2 WHERE’S WALLY was able to beat a near identical field last start to score his first win in the region. Has always had the ability to race in town but like the trainer has his fair share of issues. If Josh Brown can keep him sound he’ll win a few more. TRUTH AND LIES loomed the winner fresh but faded late. BELLS TOWER is always tough to run down but 63kg is a big ask. SHADY GRAY ran last beaten 7L first-up, but that was in a 72+ in town. Keep him safe. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – WHERE’S WALLY WIN Race 3 HAPPY SANDAY has had 18 opportunities to win a race but this does look a suitable assignment for him to finally break through. Has been through Bruce Watkins and Justin Warwick and now lands with Mr Peter Fernie. His fresh form is definitely strong enough to win. JACK’S FROST was enormous first-up after settling toward the tail. Unfortunately draws wide again. Once he gets a gate he’ll be a special. MING XING showed glimpses of ability as a 2 year old. No surprise to see her run a race. CITY RANSOM went close first-up and a repeat puts her in the finish. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – HAPPY SANDAY WIN Race 4 COMBAT READY has placed at 5 of 14 starts and all were in the provincial area. Mark Forder travels him down to Esperance and from the outside gate expecting him to roll forward and sit right over the speed. Last start 4th behind Zenaze looks very good form for a moderate maiden. BLUE TURNS TO GREY continues to run into one better but is getting mighty close. RYDON sat four and five deep the trip first-up. Forgive that effort. SNIPPIRANHA was given every mortal chance last start by Bennett. Has been a bit disappointing recently. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – COMBAT READY WIN Race 5 THISORTHAT is ever consistent and Kristy Bennett’s 2kg could be the difference to get him across the line and turning the tables on Last Legacy. From the draw should sit midfield with cover and come with a big run. LAST LEGACY has been excellent this preparation. Her win on opening day was the only race to break benchmark figures. Following the form. THE LAST WALTZ is flying and will look to take all the short cuts in the straight. PROZONE sat off the track last start and was a complete forgive run. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 13 – 6 Suggested Bet – THISORTHAT WIN Race 6 TUMBLEWEED TANGO was the replay run of the day at the opening meeting after being very slow out of the machine. Final 200m was incredible and flashed at the winner. With a clean get away should be right in the finish. HILLBERT was below his best last campaign. If you go off his previous preparation he would be a short priced favourite. Jury out. PIRATES MISTRESS was a strong first-up winner and can reproduce. URQUELL is racing very consistently and draws a nice alley. Numbers: 10 – 5 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – TUMBLEWEED TANGO WIN Race 7 VITAL TOUCH was enormous last start when sitting three deep the trip no cover outside of the leaders and still fighting on to only go down three quarters of a length. If Bennett can get her across into a prominent position she’ll go close. SOUND OF FURY was impressive first-up and plain second-up. Willing to forgive the effort. SHIRASCA draws the perfect alley to box seat behind the speed and Jerry Noske rides Esperance well. ARCH TYCOON finished off well first-up. Numbers: 14 – 11 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – VITAL TOUCH WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1 4,5,6,8,9,11,13,14 2,3,5,6,10,11 9,10,11,14 Market Market
