Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on March 11, 2022March 11, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FLYING ARABIAN should be simply too quick for them in this 56+. Won a maiden by 3L, won a C2 by half a length and then went to a 1200m with a 4kg claimer and finished second to Premium Choice who is flying. Jess Gray goes back on and comes back to 1100m. Jump and run type who will give backers every possible. ANY GIVEN TIME is an 11 year old who has never been an “Esperance” horse. Expecting him to park just behind Flying Arabian and hope that he stops late. LOOKS LIKE MAGIC gets back and finishes off. LEADING MAN hasn’t quite come on. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – FLYING ARABIAN WIN RACE 2 SHADOW SHIFTER really stands out here. Second to Westernize in a C2, third to Premium Choice and Flying Arabian in a C2 and now finds himself in a Norseman Class B race. From the draw he can park over the top of the speed and Taj Dyson is really starting to find his feet in the saddle. Happy to follow him in and get involved with Shadow Shifter here. MINI COAT is going well but this might be on the shorter side for her. TUMIVET is yet to find his feet for Helen Harding who makes a few gear changes. WILD STAR is fresh and unknown. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHADOW SHIFTER WIN RACE 3 AIN’T I A WOMAN has promised to win a maiden for 2 years now. Won’t get a better chance here, on the 6 day back-up, a Norseman style maiden and drawn barrier 1. Would love to see her find the front because she’s got gate speed and kept out of trouble probably makes a huge difference in a field like this. TENNESSEE LANE has put in an eye catcher from time to time. Hard horse to follow as in between he’s also put in a few moderate performances. PASSION FOR WAR drops 2kg and was a forgive last start. TALK SOFTLY is kept fresh. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – AIN’T I A WOMAN WIN RACE 4 PRINCE HAL is an 8 year old and doesn’t win out of turn, but this looks a great race for him. Only two starts ago finished 1.5L off Watto’s Reward, Wheatstack Thief and Cocky Ed. That is a good enough effort to win this and last time out he was in a 58+. Goes well enough off the back-up historically to suggest he could pinch this. AMELIA’S PICANTE hasn’t given much since her maiden win but it has been in tougher than this. THEHUNTSMEN is still a maiden but this is still winnable for him. Got to the line well on Cup Day. ROCKING THE MERC is another maiden who is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – PRINCE HAL WIN RACE 5 SOUND OF FURY was really well supported on Cup Day and gave a bit of cheek out in front. Can find the front again off the 6 day back-up and drops back into a 56+. Thinking here that Mollie Clarke can have him rolling in front or outside of Power and Passion and from there he’s always hard to run down. POWER AND PASSION has been going super for Michelle Blanke for a long while now. Drawn underneath Sound of Fury and may well lead him. If he does he’s equally as good a chance. GRECO can improve on the back-up. LAYLO will be doing her best late. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SOUND OF FURY WIN RACE 6 THE CAT RATCHER has been a marvel in Esperance since joining Freddo Brown. Won a 58+ 2010m, won a 68+ 1600m, won a 68+ 2000 and then ran out of his skin in the Esperance Cup. To finish only 4L off the winner Off Wego from where he settled in the run was outrageously good. Looks the one in the Norseman Cup. MRS BROWNS BOY was responsible for the wild tempo in the Cup. First 1400m were run 23L faster than Cup average. Entitled to deadheat with the ambulance off those sections. MEXI COLA is drawn to get a soft run and can always bob up in these. SALVARA is showing staying potential late in the season. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – THE CAT RATCHER WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) FIELD 1,4,6 4,5 1,2,3 Market Market
