Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on February 18, 2022February 18, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ALCINA just keeps winning for Josh Brown. Hopefully the #2 lady in his life can produce while his #1 continues her recovery in Perth after a fall at Kojonup last week. Sending Chelsi all the best for a speedy recovery, one of the best. ALCINA has won three of her last four and is humming at the minute. With the addition of Strike Force to the race she stays at the exact same weight as last start when winning at this track in this grade and again looks the testing material. SAUVEGARDE finished second behind Scene To Sin a few starts back with Alcina in third. Big weight swing from that day too. Keep safe. KINGS AUTHORITY is a great ride for 4kg claimer Cassey Martinan. If there was a cutaway he’d be winning. But there isn’t. PURE MAGNUS is ready now. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALCINA WIN RACE 2 VALENZA looks to have finally found her race. Has been a model of consistency since heading to Esperance and has shown versatility, lead and run down, sat back and rattled to the line and with the quality of these maidens falling away more and more throughout the season she gets her opportunity. Hard to beat. ROCKIN THE MERC finds a new home. No surprise to see him improve sharply down in grade. THE TRUE KING hasn’t been too bad in his short career to date. TENNESSEE LANE has shown glimpses here and there so far. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – VALENZA WIN RACE 3 WHEATSTACK THEIF was plunged last start from $2.90 into $1.75 and looked the winner for the entire race until he was swamped in the final stride. Gets out in trip again to 2000m but gives the impression that he’ll stick the trip. Going well for the Altieri and Hossell combination and deserves to go on top again. POWER AND PASSION backs up off 7 days, jumps and runs and can give real cheek. Drops a cheeky 10.5kg from the Kojonup Cup. Going really well. WATTOS REWARD gets back and runs on in her races. Will need something to take her into it. KENNY THE KING is another unknown at the trip but won well last start. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – WHEATSTACK THEIF WIN RACE 4 THE CAT RATCHER is turning back the clock as a 10 year old and is flying for new trainer Freddo Brown. Winner at his last two and took the step into this grade with great success when dropping back to a mile most recently. The further they go, the harder they go, the better for him. Looks really hard to beat. MRS BROWNS BOY looks to have found his most suitable race since arriving in Esperance. Drops 1kg and the distance at this stage of his career looks exactly what he wants. ROYAL SOLDIER gets a gun run along the fence. PINK AND PURPLE an improver. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – THE CAT RATCHER WIN RACE 5 NEUROLOGIC drops back to 1200m and that looks a big positive for him. Winner at 1300m four starts ago, finished third behind Double Spice and Sauvegarde in a 58+ three starts ago and then has been brave on speed in high pressure races his last two. Austin Galati should be able to cross and find the front here without doing too much work and if able to pinch a cheap section or two she’ll be there in the finish. WESTERNIZE has been kept fresh since his last outing and has been well supported in betting at all three runs this campaign. LOOKS LIKE MAGIC is hard to catch but on her day she has a powerful turn of acceleration. WHIM CREEK loves Esperance. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – NEUROLOGIC WIN RACE 6 BALDERDSAH will need a seriously good ride from barrier 13 but he is going undeniably well this campaign. Strong winner when well found two starts ago and then stepped to a mile last time out when only finishing a length off Kenny The King and Galahs Do Roar. Back to 1300m a tick and he is a highly versatile galloper. No star but going well enough to win another one. SAINT CLEMENTS is building quickly into the campaign. SHADOW SHIFTER is going amazingly well for a big time C1. Drops 3kg and is drawn to get the box seat run. BOONDI ROCKS took a while to break through but can go on with it now. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – BALDERDASH WIN RACE 7 EUROGEM has been a great addition to the Georgia Grant stable since making the trip across from South Australia. Has had three starts in WA and each and every one of them has been excellent. Last start won the Pelican’s Ladies Bracelet at Albany and now returns to a 58+ mile at Esperance. Maps well and is in great form. WARZACHANTZ had his winning run halted last start. Drops 2kg with the Taj Dyson claim and should enjoy a lovely run throughout. No reason why he can’t bounce straight back. MEXI COLA can improve quickly into his preparations. SCORELINE always a cheeky chance if finding the top. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – EUROGEM WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5 2,5,6 1,3,4,6,10 1,2,3,4,5,8 Market Market
