Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on June 10, 2021June 10, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MUST RUSH looks an ideal dirt acquisition for team Casey who unveil their new team for the 2021 season at the second meeting of the year. First-up last preparation at Northam ran third behind Shock Result (winner of two since) and Heels a Plenty (winner of two since) and beating home Material Witness (winner of two since). Has speed, can cross and looks hard to beat. THE WISE ONE has speed to get across but it’s the extra 100 that will test late. PRORATED looked to get through the surface fine, just got shuffled to an impossible position first-up. MIAMI MOON tracks through the inside. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – MUST RUSH WIN RACE 2 WARFISH is a new addition to the region and looks well suited to Broome racing. Is drawn outside of Moorumbine which makes things tough but after the claim for Angela Johnston looks capable of testing the likely favourite. Only had one run when last in work and that was luckless behind metro types Cuballing, Holy Ghost and City Circle. First-up previous campaign won a 58+ at Ascot. MOORUMBINE won awfully soft first-up and again leads and controls the tempo. No surprise to see him win back to back races. Just a question of price. FRIARS FANCY ran a ripper first-up in a high rating race. Keep safe. DANCE COCKEY gets a soft run. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – WAR FISH WIN RACE 3 CRASH HAT LADY has flashed potential at various stages in her career. Lead throughout to win a 1300m maiden by almost 4L back in July 2020 and fresh last preparation (45 days between runs) ran second behind talented filly Gunmetal Grey. If Bonnie Palise finds the front, she can prove hard to run down. HITCHINRAIL is first up for the new yard and should slide across to hold a prominent position in running. SLICK UNIT has the speed to sit right over the top of them. THEWAYIWALK is lightly raced but will need to jump cleanly to hold a position. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – CRASH HAT LADY WIN RACE 4 HOOLAHOOPS and PIT TO WIN ran the quinella in a quality times race. First 600 was run 3L faster than average and last 600 run 0.5L faster than average. They were rolling throughout and off their feet late in the race. That’s usually a great indication that the form will hold up and they clash here again at 1400. With the extra ground, the inside draw and the 1.5kg weight swing going with HOOLAHOOPS to turn the tables. Angela Smith’s yard went super at opening meeting and she looks hard to beat here. PIT TO WIN will be right there again and looks the obvious danger. STUMBLE brings metro and provincial form. Gets back but can sustain a run. BURN ONE DOWN a new comer to the region. This is on the short side for him but definitely follow. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – HOOLAHOOPS WIN RACE 5 STAADEN and ZIP YOUR LIPS are both having their first start for Rob Gulberti. STAADEN a winner at 1400, 1600 & 1760 (x2). ZIP YOUR LIPS a winner at 1400, 1600, 1700 & 1825. Both look capable of going right through the grades and contesting the bigger races at the end of the season but fresh at 1400 we’ll side with the strength of P.Hall and go with STAADEN who should be able to kick through underneath horses and nearly lead them up. From there hard to toss. ZIP YOUR LIPS likely comes out running in an attempt to breeze outside the stablemate. ELLEOFADEEL will likely be targeting up the Cups but can sprint well fresh. ABLE ENGINE another intriguing addition to Broome racing. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – STAADEN WIN RACE 6 MISS ELLMYA went under at the opening meeting after leading and being run down comfortably by Strike Force, however, the saddle shifted shortly after jumping and that would have put Austin Galati at a disadvantage. Jumps, rolls and takes running down. Worth forgiving the defeat. SONG OF VINCENT returns to Broome where he won four races in the 2019 season sitting on top of the speed and grinding rivals into the ground. Will look to breeze outside Miss Ellmya and do similar here. DESERT THORN grew wings last start in a race which brough back memories of the 2019 Broome Sprint win. More than capable. FOO TROUBLE kept kicking last start and is an honest campaigner. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – MISS ELLMYA WIN RACE 7 PREVAILING WINDS hasn’t won a race for over 1000 days and has never raced on the dirt but John Gangemi rarely rolls into town without a winner and this looks one of the better chances of his new travelling team. Can kick through underneath them to hold a position and gets his chance in an even race. BRAVE CONTENDER will only get better with racing and distance. CAPE SOUNION is fool proof and rarely runs a bad race. OLD BAILEY is a jump and run type who should be suited to dirt racing. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet – PREVAILING WINDS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,5 2,3,4,5,8,10 2,4,8,9,10 1,5,8,9,10,12 Market Market
