Scott Embry’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on May 23, 2024May 23, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GINGER JONES hasn’t won a race in a long time but each and every year the opening meeting at Broome is jump and run (shock) with the majority of winners leading into the corner. This horse has lead races over 1000 at Ascot and Belmont and raced well in Esperance for team Pateman. CIAO LUNA and GOD’S MOMENT are the first runs of Roy Rogers as the new comer to the Broome training ranks this season. Both are sharp mares on their day with CIAO LUNA who won a C3 1000 up the straight at Pinjarra only two starts ago in Feb and GOD’S MOMENT won didn’t come up last preparation but did drop 4 points without being too far off them. DARK CITY goes well fresh. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – GINGER JONES WIN RACE 2 GET OUT MICK always showed a bit of ability for Steele Casey and now joins the yard of Kelvin Moore and heads to Broome. Trialled really well over 950m at Lark Hill last preparation and finished only 2L off The Boss Lady and Starating first-up over 1100 at Northam. Nice starting point for him on the dirt. THE LYRICIST can kick through underneath runners from the inside and did run a couple of handy placings at Esperance back in January. PRIVATE SAPLING has speed and that’s all important early in the season. PUSHOVER was okay at Port Hedland. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – GET OUT MICK WIN RACE 3 STAR SOPRANO won 2x 58+ races at Broome last season and finished third to Apple Schnapps and Pit To Win in his 70+ outing. Down on the 54kg limit expect that Kyra Yuill will jump him out and look to cross those inside her to find the fence. If he leads he’s really hard to beat. APPLE SCHNAPPS won the sprint with 60kg last year but didn’t get warm over the 1100s. SQULLIONAIRE is an X-Factor runner who won well down the straight two back. BIG BADA BOOM is the class runner but has 63kg on his back at his first dirt outing and wants further than 1100. Respect but willing to watch first-up. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – STAR SOPRANO WIN RACE 4 LO LO LONHRO won an 1100m maiden at Broome last season when leading all the way. Looks to reproduce that here in a race without a whole lot of early speed. If Jess Gray can dig up underneath them and potentially hold the front he should go well. RIGHTS OF MAN has ability but tends to get back in his races which is a concern on the dirt. DISCO DONUT was once a 66+ 1000m winner at Ascot – the wheels have fallen off since then! DEEP POINT ran well at the opening meeting at Port Hedland. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – LO LO LONHRO WIN RACE 5 DIEGO DYNAMITE should be a great Broome horse. He sat in the breeze to win his maiden at Pinjarra and then was only 5.5L off Twain’s Angel / Brave Spirit / Miss Flirtacious / Olivia’smemumma last start at Ascot. He’s fit, he’s on speed and he’s showing a bit of toughness. SAMARIA similarly should be a really nice acquisition for Darryn Pateman. She’s quick and if she is able to cross them from the outside gate then it’s game on. LUCKY LANDING can hold a spot and is more than capable. RED REBEL another who should be winning C2 races this prep. This race is 10L better than Race 4. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – DIEGO DYNAMITE WIN RACE 6 DANEHILL STORM lead and won at the opening meeting last season in a 58+ 1300 at 25-1. There’s a lot of unknowns here and while last season he’s had 2 runs under his belt at Albany leading into his return to Broome going to roll the dice that the old boy can reproduce at odds in 2024. GAMBLERS GOLD is the class runner and can make his way through to 70+ company as the distances increase. Cups horse this year. SAMBAZA won three races back to back to back at Carnarvon back in June 2023 – hasn’t been seen for a year and has a unique galloping action which may not be suited to barrier 1. WAKAN TANKA was hammered in early betting at the opening meeting at Port Hedland. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – DANEHILL STORM EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 6,7 1,2,3,5,7 2,3,4,5 1,2,3,4,6,9 Market Market
