Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on July 5, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 ESSENTIAL SPICE has run into the quality filly Market Ruler at both starts this preparation. She improved three lengths at her second start and if she can take the same improvement here looks hard to beat. FIRE AND RAIN looked near on unbeatable on paper first-up and duly saluted. Does it tougher here and with a big weight but he is all class. NGAWI will be storming home up along the fence as long as she doesn’t get too far back. KISS THE BREEZE was brave first-up tramping wide throughout. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – ESSENTIAL SPICE WIN Race 2 GREAT AGAIN smashed the clock last week. He may have done it on a leader dominated day but times rarely lie. He slides across to park outside the lead and should be far too good. BLIZZARD EXPRESS likely finds the fence and is capable of running a cheeky race at big odds here. COUNT TOMOZ OFF finally broke a long run of outs down the Pinjarra straight. He has always promised more than he’s shown. SWIFT PLATINUM could end up leaders back and never saw daylight first-up. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – GREAT AGAIN WIN Race 3 MISTY METAL is up to 1200m, up ever so slightly in weight and first choice apprentice Kate Witten returns to the saddle. Her natural speed puts her into a brilliant position and she will take some beating. THUNDERSTRUT is the other 3 year old filly taking on the older horses and she leads or sits outside the leader. Stable is flying and her win last week was strong. GLIMMER GIRL has some sensational race form to her name and returns for a new stable in a winnable race. BUSHFIRE BLONDE is yet to win below 1400 but first-up no trial with Pike appeals. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – MISTY METAL WIN Race 4 AMBIENTE was one of the bigger betting moves we have witnessed so far this season and she did not let punters down thumping above average opposition. Gets an identical run here from the same gate and should be winning again. FLOYD has been beaten less than a length at his last three first-up runs. Historically you would expect he will be paddling late. RECOILED trialed well and looks the best of the swooping brigade. MAD BRAD is Mad Brad, you know he will run big races and tempt punters all preparation. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – AMBIENTE WIN Race 5 BEAUCOUNT has gone to a new level and is a different horse since the astute Brad Graham stable has stepped him up over a trip and let him roll. Ran serious time at Belmont Park midweek before again running rivals ragged at Northam. If you back him you’ll be in front at the furlong. NEW AGE is the logical danger. The way she extends late in her races is seriously impressive and she will be mowing down the leader late. OUTLAW BLUES ran a huge race two starts ago but the draw is a bitter blow again. Right tow into the race and he can produce a big finish. KOKOPU was bolting in behind horses last week and never got out. Numbers: 11 – 9 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – BEAUCOUNT EACHWAY Race 6 COME PLAY WITH ME has been playing with decent older opposition his last two starts. Elegant Blast is off to Melbourne for a preparation and is certainly no slouch. Last three runs he has turned a corner and now travels into his races. Keen. STATE PROSECUTOR looks the logical and possibly only danger. Big win against the pattern of the day to win the Belmont Guineas. Settling last is the concern. SONG OF VINCENT may roll forwards and take luck out of the equation here. Query at the trip but nice type. SATIRIC is seriously outclassed but has proven he can stay. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – COME PLAY WITH ME WIN Race 7 MIZLECKI is the class filly in the race, is weighted to win and finally draws a barrier to get some much needed cover. Her preparation has been long and tough but if she can stick out the trip she looks mighty hard to beat on paper. SEND MY LOVE rolls forward from the awkward gate and her run in the Thousand Guineas at Ascot showed that she is a quality animal. ACONITE is drawn woefully but was rattling home in a strongly run mile last start. HABESHA is the fourth emergency and would need a miracle to get a start but boy would she be right in this. How she was balloted out is one of racing’s greatest mysteries. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 18 Suggested Bet – MIZLECKI WIN Race 8 GREY ENIGMA should get an identical run to what he enjoyed two starts ago from the gate and Jason Brown back into the saddle can not be underestimated. In a race where the market ‘should’ be eachway the field he is worth a spec. ART SERIES would be right in it if she is anywhere near fit however for a horse who has had issue after issue this preparation she likely goes round unders. WOODSVILLE was huge last week lumping a massive weight. 1400 is a query but he is going very well. FLYING TIME is another who is bursting to win a race. As soon as he gets a rain affected track he will be going very close. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – GREY ENIGMA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 9,11 2 1,3,4,5,8 1,4,6,7,8,9,10 Market Market
