Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on May 23, 2019May 27, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 SPECIALISM vs MIA DOLCE was an intriguing clash last start and tactically will play a big part again but this race also throws in another two winning chances in RED CAN MAN and KELVIN. Not a lot between all four of them. Siding with RED CAN MAN on the quick back up. Got well out of his ground, held up at crucial stages and unable to reel them in last week. Up to 1300 suits. SPECIALISM likely takes closer order of the speed here. KELVIN gets a big weight swing from the Sires. MIA DOLCE going great guns but finds a tougher race here. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – RED CAN MAN EACHWAY Race 2 MONEY MAHER returned to racing in brilliant fashion. Won authoritatively and with a fair bit in reserve. Should derive natural benefit from the run and stepping up to a mile is in his favour. Expect him to safely take care of these. CAPPO D’ORO lumps a big weight even after the claim but kept fresh he’ll run his normal honest race. TOUCH OF SILVER continues to defy weights swings on rivals, the query here is an apprentice going on. FRIARESQUE travels like Tarzan and lets down like Bill Shorten. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – MONEY MAHER WIN Race 3 TO RISE AGAIN will come out running and is shooting for four straight wins. Couldn’t cross Pastry until the top of the straight last start so it will be interesting tactically whether Azzopardi puts the foot down or idles in the breeze. CATHERINE WHEEL is a very nice filly who was no match for Dance Music last start. Nothing in this field would beat Dance Music either but the map looks awkward for Paterson. ESSENTIAL SPICE has a turn of foot but concedes rivals a fair start as does BARON BOSTOCK who went well fresh. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – TO RISE AGAIN EACHWAY Race 4 ARAFURA maps to get a soft run midfield and with the engagement of an in form apprentice gets in well at the weights. When smothered up and saved for a run at them late can ping and is a definite blow out chance here. FINALLY FRENCH finally broke through for win number two after being labelled a bit of a ‘nonny’. He can win plenty more. BATTLE STORM is undefeated after two and has undeniable talent. Has had a fair few noted issues and returns without a trial. Risky to launch into the shorts. COPPER FURY is a chance of crossing to the fence and can give cheek. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – ARAFURA EACHWAY Race 5 FLOWER OF WAR and NOT TO BE MIST are both undefeated after three career outings. Whether or not DRIFTSTAR starts after running Wednesday makes a difference to the map but if FLOWER OF WAR finds the front she looks awfully hard to run down. FORGOTTEN STAR was one of the replays of the month last start. Very handy filly who draws far better here. NOT TO BE MIST may not be seen in Western Australia many more times with an impending sale on the cards but has lots of talent. SON OF BACCHUS went well fresh but draws awkwardly. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLOWER OF WAR WIN Race 6 SAXON SAXOFF has hit a real purple patch of form. His last three have been super impressive on the clock and he can grind these into the ground. Not brilliantly away but Azzopardi can muster and take over the lead from the 1600 and make them chase. NAVY BLUE was out stayed in Albany by Saxon Saxoff last start, draws to stalk here and looks the danger. EYE ART is a progressive stayer who could be backing up off 3 days from Wednesday. TWENTYTHREE RED is building and was specked last start before racing in earmuffs and pacifiers. Numbers: 5 – 14 – 12 – 9 Suggested Bet – SAXON SAXOFF EACHWAY Race 7 MOSCHARD will need something to tow him into the race from the awkward draw but there will be a three wide train and Pike rides those race patterns better than anyone in WA. His first-up win was big and this looks a nice race. REGAL MOON should be in a very similar spot in transit. She was a remarkable drifter last start but defied the market and won impressively. LITTLE PUNGA will be a huge price but if springing the gates should find a nice spot behind Citichant. WANNA BE GOOD maps well and is ultra-consistent. Deserving favourite. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 15 – 2 Suggested Bet – MOSCHARD EACHWAY Race 8 THE VELVET KING looks to have this race at his mercy and should give Lee Newman a massive boost on his return to race riding. Was only nailed late by highly talented 3 year old Special Reward first-up, is better suited over 1400m and can lead or sit in the breeze. Hard to see them running him down. MYSTERY MISS is the logical danger on paper. Has had a fair while off with a significant injury. Might need this. SIGIL does not know how to win but when he draws soft he rarely misses a place. DIABLERIE looks better suited at 1400m than last start at a mile. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 15 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE VELVET KING WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,5,6 1,3,5,11,12,14 1,2,6,7,11,13,15 6 Market Market
