Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on October 4, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 MARCEE A LADY has trialed as well as any in the opening 2 year old race for the year. Has drawn well, has gate speed and has Pike. In an extremely tough and deep race she goes on top by default. NICCOVI comes from the same two trials as her stable-mate and both have been just as good, if not better. Drawn a touch sticky but expect her to charge forwards. AMARILLO ROSE comes from two 400m jump outs but it’s hard not to like the way she moves. TINSNIP was doing his best work late in the trial, gets back but can definitely go close. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MARCEE A LADY WIN Race 2 PAGAN IMAGE had to dig deep late last start in the mile but got there right on the line. Possibly a small query back in trip but that form does look strong and he arguably meets inferior opposition here. Gets back in races but will be coming home wide. SCENIC CHARM likely finds the front and from there is the one to run down. Think she will be worth following. LEADING GIRL got the job done on debut at Northam in a relatively weak maiden. Could be in an awkward spot from the draw but Pike will get her out. BLACKWOOD RIVER was great on debut in a quality race. Trialed well and sits close handy. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – PAGAN IMAGE WIN Race 3 ELECTRIC LIGHT has really gone from strength to strength and improves with every race. There is no speed in this race so Parnham should have her within striking distance and it looks on paper a perfect opportunity to win five on the bounce. MASQUERADE has gate speed so likely lobs into the box seat. Hard to argue with his form, albeit mainly in three year old grade. RECOILED should be the big improver. If he jumps, he leads and comes from a strong form race. BOMBS AWAY has been going fairly. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – ELECTRIC LIGHT WIN Race 4 ENTICING STAR has been described by some as the Winx of the West. While that is a stretch she is classy, exciting, getting better with racing and has a turn of foot which can bring attention and crowds back to WA racing. She will concede her only rival a head start but looks like making it eight from eight. GREAT SHOT on paper is the only danger. Field of five horses, only speed in the race and rail at the true. DISPOSITION can tow ball Great Shot and runs top three. PROPERANTES should sneak past Ihtshymn into an obvious first four position. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – ENTICING STAR WIN Race 5 A KNIGHT OF PRO was ridden to perfection last start by McGruddy and he draws the gate to sit in an identical spot and get a lovely run forwards of midfield with cover in a hot speed race. They will run along and string out and he gets his chance to win again. ARCADIA PRINCE was a seriously good trial and is the obvious danger and deserving favourite. Hard to hold out. NEW TIME was brave on top of the speed last start. Almost a case of faster the better for the tough as nails veteran. PATROCITY should enjoy a soft run and improve. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – A KNIGHT OF PRO WIN Race 6 BOLD SUCCESS has hit form and his recent efforts look good for a race like this. Slight concern is the lack of speed in the race for him but Pike will have him in a winnable position and he will have every chance. BIG CAROLINE is in career best form and continues to catch the eye from off the speed. This is the easiest opposition she has met in months and she deserves to win one. PATRISTIC comes straight out of maiden company but is one of the few on pace types. JERAFT will be in the box seat and was reasonable first-up. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – BOLD SUCCESS WIN Race 7 CHESTEN FLYER was a nice trial and his 1000m form alongside Masquerade and Finally French at Ascot last preparation is arguably the strongest form in the race. Evenly graded affair he could be the safe way to play from the gate. NIGHT VOYAGE is going great guns and gets a wonderful opportunity to win another race. Has raced without luck and bumped into some quality animals recently. NICCATRICE leads or races in the box seat and goes close. SHOWCASE could find herself back in a fair bit of traffic but she is classy. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHESTEN FLYER EACHWAY Race 8 NELSON’S FLIGHT was a strong first-up winner over a subsequent strongly supported Hannans Handicap winner. He then was forced to do it tough outside of a strong early tempo when the leaders were gobbled up rounding the corner. Looks a perfect assignment for him and should get some cover. DARK PROSPECT is a two time winner backing up off 7 days and last week lumped 59kg chasing an extremely hot speed. Forgive, he goes close. ELEGANT BLAST enjoys a soft run three back the fence. BATTLE TORQUE just goes for Pike. Can’t be discounted. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – NELSON’S FLIGHT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,4 1,2,11 1,3,4,5,7,9 1,3,5,6,9 Market Market
