Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on July 18, 2024July 18, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JOKER’S GRIN is showing a huge amount of promise early in his career. He’s only coming through a 3 year old 0MWLY midweek victory but he won with arrogance and his sectionals were ridiculously good. He’s broken 33 seconds L600 and seemingly has more to offer. They’ll go quick here with Tycoon Harry/Seeyouatthesession/Cessation and Cheeky Charlotte all likely to vie for the fence early and Pat Carbery can park him out the back and unwind down the centre. Exciting animal. TYCOON HARRY is the proven commodity and clear cut danger. He won 4 on the bounce to finish last preparation including beating the older horses and doesn’t need to lead to win. He’s sharp. CESSATION resumed well. SEEYOUATTHESESSION trialled well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – JOKER’S GRIN WIN RACE 2 SUPIDO EXPRESS is a ready made race horse. He won on debut and then held his own behind Noahquintilly and Elite Missile stepping into a Saturday event at his second race outing. This race has a bit more depth to it but he gains the services of William Pike, he goes around eachway and he should roll forward to the breeze again. Done nothing wrong to date. NICKELPLAY was the ‘be on me next start’ run on debut and now she’s got a set of blinkers added to her gear. Barrier 14 of 15 is a real curveball so she’ll need a bit steer from Steve Parnham. HORCRUX impressed at trials and the horse he beat was stiff not to win on Wednesday at Pinjarra. NICELY PLAYED looked a nice mover in her 400m jump out. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 6 – 14 Suggested Bet – SUPIDO EXPRESS EACHWAY RACE 3 PROBITY gets conditions to suit and looks hard to beat at a genuine eachway price second-up. Loved his trial, loved his first-up run and love the fact it’s been raining throughout the week to guarantee he’ll get the wet track that he so desperately wants. He’s 0 from 18 on Good surfaces and a case of wetter the better for him. 14 of his last 16 outings have been in higher grade and he should be pinching a Westspeed Platinum this winter. Hopefully it’s Saturday! ADVANCED backs up off 7 days from another great effort. Ready to win. VALDARENA almost fought back to win the Westspeed Final and both Bird’s The Word and Ginger Green have franked that form. LOVA SESSION is out of chances. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – PROBITY EACHWAY RACE 4 KISSES FROM KELLY was beaten fair and square by Antique Miss last start but she loses Pike and he keeps CJP. He’ll again enjoy every favour behind Tallangatta/Filthy Habits and looks destined to lob 1×1 and be afforded every chance to turn the tables. No doubt Antique Miss will be extremely hard to hold out but he’s in career best form and will hold a field advantage on her in the run. ANTIQUE MISS will go around close enough to even money. She’s the one to beat but she’ll also likely settle last of the 10 in running. FILTHY HABITS is building nicely. STRIKE NOW has been thereabouts all campaign. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – KISSES FROM KELLY WIN RACE 5 OUTFIELD loves to roll. He’s a high speed cruise horse who gets through the wet surfaces and gets the chasing brigade uncomfortable from a long way out. He’s a soft7 winner this campaign, he’s dropping weight on his last start victory and with Little Silver winning on Wednesday the form has been franked. Prior to that finished fourth behind Celebrity Prince and subsequent winners Dance Boss and Playhouse Patron. Flying. HEMLOCK STONE was a great trial and runs for CJP. BEST MOOD drops back into a 60+ Graduation after looming the winner in a 66+ last start. BIRD’S THE WORD is as tough as they come. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – OUTFIELD EACHWAY RACE 6 WESTRIVER MIRACLE drops back into a Graduation for the first time since July 2022. He’s raced in higher grade his past 19 starts and has slowly come back down in the ratings to a point where he’s no a m71 (career high m79). First-up he sat three deep the trip and finished less than 3L off Demolish/Aztec Ruler/Pompey in a 78+ and while he hasn’t raced at that same level since he strikes a wet track – tick, he gets Chris Parnham on – 2 time winner and he can roll across to park up on speed. Not impossible. SENSESSIONAL is starting to put it all together and was dominant last start this track/distance/grade. Expect Pike to ride for luck and if the gaps appear he’ll be hard to hold out. ULTIMATE STYLE is going better than it reads. ALBERICH is getting closer. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – WESTRIVER MIRACLE EACHWAY RACE 7 PETROUCHKA put the writing on the wall in the Belmont Guineas with a fast finishing second behind Luvnwar and then always looked the winner in the Belmont Oaks when duly saluting. She’s got gears, she’s got upside and she’s got a staying pedigree that should see her hard to beat as she looks to win the Oaks-Classic double. WEERAECHOUX charged home when the race was all over in the Aquanita. He was sectionally impossible from where he settled after Cool Memory ran the first 1400m 10L slower than average. Huge effort to get as close as he did late. CRUISE TO RIO had excuses in the Oaks. ANTIQUE QUEEN missed the kick in the Oaks. Can settle closer. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – PETROUCHKA WIN Same Race Multi – Petrouchka (Win) + Weeraechoux (Top 3) Petrouchka is looking to complete the Belmont Oaks – Belmont Classic Double and on paper it’s her race to lose. She’s clearly the best of the girls and there’s queries on the depth and quality of the boys’ form. Weeraechoux was the best of the beaten brigade in the Aquanita Stakes but does tend to leave himself vulnerable with a negative racing pattern. RACE 8 GINNIVAN is clearly a different horse when he can find the fence, but he showed last start that he’s slowly starting to work it out when racing in the breeze and being gunned down in the final stride by high class sprinter Final Siren. Looks destined to breeze again in a high speed 1000 and looks well placed and weighted after the claim. Hard to fault. CAPRE OMNIA gets a bit of weight relief and there looks a guaranteed 3 deep line for him to wind up into the race. BAYEZID went around single figures in the Beaufine last week before missing the kick. UNDER INFLUENCE will settle last but can be ridden for luck up the fence #Pikethings. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 3 – 14 Suggested Bet – GINNIVAN WIN RACE 9 STORMCHASER was an excellent return to racing over 1000m when held up at a crucial stage in an on speed dominated affair behind Ginnivan and Final Siren. Second-up he steps out to a more suitable 1200m, he draws to get the right run midfield with cover and again the speed will be on with Ain’t No Other Man, Universal Flair, Ice Pick Nick and Can’t Be Done all likely to burn in front. Sets it up nicely for him to zap them late. ICE PICK NICK joins the strike rate yard of Stefan Vahala. Goes great guns fresh, maps a treat. Plenty to like. ROCKIN’ RUPERT is in career best form but will need to be at his best from the draw. UPPER LIMITS can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – STORMCHASER WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,4 1,6 1,3,5,6,8,11,12,14 4,7,9 Market Market
