Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 2, 2020January 6, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SUNNYSILK was just a touch slow away on debut and that probably cost him the race. Settled toward the rear, over-raced, raced greenly, came very wide on straightening and had to sustain a run. With natural improvement and race experience looks hard to beat. GEMMA’S SON trialed back in October and burst away to win by 10L. Looked very professional and accelerated impressively. JANAURA comes out of a 400m jump out where Ryan Hill had the foot down and she ran sharp time. Looking for the fence. AMERICAN CHOICE has been improving with every run and draws perfectly. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – SUNNYSILK WIN Race 2 INDIAN PACIFIC was a six figure yearling who schooled up nicely at 400m jump outs. On debut jumped cleanly, lead comfortably and dominated. The clock suggests he is well above average, Holy Ghost made the form look good last weekend and should have sufficient speed to cross and find the fence. From there it is his race to lose. GUESTEEN parked three deep the trip on debut and won soft. She looks to have her fair share of ability. JENJA was climbing all over them at Bunbury when held up the entire length of the home straight. Draw makes it tough for him. HIGH RANGE draws soft and is kept fresh. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – INDIAN PACIFIC WIN Race 3 HEART STARTER is a seven year old who has not won for over 1000 days but this looks a nice assignment for him. There is speed drawn underneath him in Butterlea Lad and Avidus but expecting Harry Grace to push on and find the breeze at worst. All recent runs have had merit and this is a weak race. MEGAZONE was stiff not to salute last weekend in a very slowly run mile. Backs up off 7 days and is a progressive horse taking on a lot of older horses at their mark but will need some luck from the draw. AVIDUS was a shade disappointing last time out, previous runs were good. STAR VALUE was able to sprint well at 1200 and a mile is much more his go. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – HEART STARTER EACHWAY Race 4 SENTIMENTAL GIFT was a soft winner two starts ago, bolting in by over a length eased down. Last start was probably beaten by the barrier when unable to reel in British Bessy who enjoyed a far better run in transit. Yet to miss the money in 8 starts and improving with every outing. She looks the winner. ALIMENTARIA is rapidly rising through the grades and has the tactical speed to take up a prominent position. The form around her has been strong. PUSH TO PASS continues to run nice races. PROXY was scratched from a far weaker race at Mt Barker to race here and can lead them up. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – SETIMENTAL GIFT WIN Race 5 NO APOLOGY will need some luck or a piece of brilliance from Shaun McGruddy from the horror alley but in an even race and at juicy double figures he is worth rolling the dice. Ran well first-up in a far tougher race than this behind Laverrod, Boomtastic, Downforce and Silkinize. Steps to 1400 and looks to have upside. INSPIRATIONAL GIRL was scratched a fortnight ago with a hoof abscess. Not an ideal lead in to her first-up assignment and the gate hurts. HE’S A GUNSLINGER should get a lovely run and was a strong winner last time out. ROSEBUSH has caught the eye at both runs this preparation and looks suited to three back the fence. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – NO APOLOGY EACHWAY Race 6 SNOWCHINO dominated from the front last start when ridden to her strengths by Joey Azzopardi. She never settled in the run and gets very keen but simply ran rivals into the ground. Steps to 1800 for the first time but if she can reproduce her last start effort she’ll take serious catching. LIKE A BUTTERFLY is going really well but from the draw may be forced to sit in the breeze chasing. MIZLECKI can take the rails behind the favourite and get the run when Snowchino rolls off the fence. PERFECT JEWEL may be at her swan song. Gear change and Pike on. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SNOWCHINO WIN Race 7 FABERGINO is simply dynamite fresh at 1000m. Tiarnna Robertson’s stable is currently boasting one of the best strike rates in the State and this mare is prepared accordingly. The three horses drawn underneath her are moderate to slow beginners and she should find the fence with ease. Absorbs pressure from Belter but the faster the better for her. THE CELT is in career best form and is an undeniable winning chance. His fresh effort in the Colonel Reeves was brilliant. PROFIT STREET has returned to racing well and should enjoy a nice run from the draw. UNDISCLOSED will be chasing a long way out but she’s flying. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – FABERGINO WIN Race 8 STAR EXHIBIT put in a very good Perth Cup trial in the Van Heemst Stakes. He does concede Mississippi Delta 3kg from that encounter but should settle in front of her in the run and if it becomes a true staying test he’ll come to the fore. MISSISSIPPI DELTA could well end up last and from there she will need to be good. Little below par for her lofty standards in the Van Heemst but is perfectly suited in the handicap conditions as a m97 in a 97+. TAXAGANO is going great guns and won’t know himself with only 53kg. No speed in this race, would be interesting if he landed in front. SPIRITUAL WARRIOR has hit form at the perfect time. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 13 – 12 Suggested Bet – STAR EXHIBIT WIN Race 9 PABLO’S POEM has been off the scene for a long time, over 400 days, and returns to the races having had surgery on both knees. Poses obvious queries and unknowns but his 3-year-old form was strong and his two lead up trials have been sizzling. Should find a nice spot behind a hot tempo and if he turns up he’ll take serious beating. FESTIVAL MISS is a big danger from three back the fence and will be charging late. PREVAILING WINDS is going well and should lead from the inside. STAR GLITTER ran a big race fresh. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 12 – 14 Suggested Bet – PABLO’S POEM WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,4 1,5 1,7,13 4,10 Market Market
