Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on January 2, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 BLUE TURNS TO GREY should roll straight to the front and take some running down. Held off all but Combat Ready last start and that galloper looks to have sufficient ability to continue on through the grades. BLACK WING has been hitting the line particularly well since arriving in Esperance and looks the danger. HAPPY SANDAY has always promised to win a race but he could just be a politician. ASTRALANDER next best. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – BLUE TURNS TO GREY WIN Race 2 SCENE TO SIN has had the two trials this preparation and both of them had some sort of merit. The most recent finishing strongly underneath Big Blows looked good enough to win on debut and Yuill aboard is a lead in itself. ANGEL JUPITER was the target of support first-up, no trial and it might pay to remember that was the day the Highway from Kalgoorlie to Esperance was closed and most of Mr Peter Fernie’s horses ran below market expectation. RYDON has been building toward a win. TUCEPI is a career maiden but the fresh run was sound. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SCENE TO SIN WIN Race 3 MISS CAIRO, MING XING, ASCENDANCY, SNIPSAWAY, YULONG ROCKSTAR and WATTO’S REVENGE were all good enough at their most recent start or trial to justify going on top. This is a strong maiden and should prove a great form reference going forward. MISS CAIRO trialed well at Lark Hill and the horse who finished second, The Italian Job ran super on debut. WATTO’S REVENGE trialed very well for a return to the races. MING XING was good last start and gets shades added. ASCENDANCY will find this far more suitable than the metro 3 year old midweekers. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – MISS CAIRO WIN Race 4 WHERE’S WALLY is Josh Forder-Brown’s pin up horse and the extra 100m and extra 1kg on Shady Gray means he gets another wonderful opportunity to bounce back into the winner’s circle. SHADY GRAY had his measure last start fair and square. If he can lump 63 he’ll be hard to beat. Great campaigner. SWIFT PLATINUM could be the beneficiary of an abandoned meeting. 1400m really suits him fresh back on the grass. PIRATES MISTRESS is going really well. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – WHERE’S WALLY WIN Race 5 KEEPER MEAN caught the eye last start when flooding home late from off the speed. This race has a deal less speed and Emma Stent could even elect to go straight to the top. Further they go the better Keeper Mean will get. LAST LEGACY has won three of her last four and is flying. Drawn well, mare in form, normally a recipe for success. ROCKER CHICK is her own worst enemy with her racing pattern but on her day has a powerful turn of foot. COMBAT READY can make the grade but would have preferred a C2. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – KEEPER MEAN WIN Race 6 SNIPPIRANHA has hit a purple patch of form. The maiden win was strong over subsequent winner Combat Ready and far from disgraced last start. Will need some luck but is versatile. ICE ONE is first-up, no trial and her best form is good enough to win this. BUFF MAN was finishing strongly last start but drawn horribly. LUNA ROSSA is hard to catch but has a turn of foot. Numbers: 12 – 8 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SNIPPIRANHA WIN Race 7 IT’S DYNAMITE flies fresh and while she is drawn wide and has weight to lump her turn of foot can get her out of traffic. Going to gamble on her being within 5L of the leaders turning for home and then she’s a live chance. KING’S AUTHORITY only has the one win to his name and that was on debut as a 2 year old but has almost exclusively contested 60+ metro grade since arriving in WA. This is a big drop in class. DRIFTWOOD GIRL finally broke through last start and can go on with it. FEARLESS GENERAL has won 3 races, all fresh. Interesting to see if he reproduces. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – IT’S DYNAMITE EACHWAY Race 8 LOSING TICKET has come back to racing in top form. First-up win over 18000 at Mt Barker was big when taking off midrace and then lost no admirers in defeat last start. Draws well and should be given every chance. BENTLEY’S BROTHER looked a nice acquisition for Helen Harding and was super consistent throughout his Steve Wolfe career. TRACKTA wins races in this grade and over this distance. LADY VITAL was jumping out of the ground last start. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet – LOSING TICKET WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,4,8 2,3,4,8,12 1,2,3,7,11 2,3,7,9,11,12 Market Market
