Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on April 18, 2019April 18, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 DANCE MUSIC looks like she will be hard to beat first-up at her return to the races. Impressive winner of 4 from 5 and is the start of a big book for Chloe Azzopardi. Crosses to lead or sits in the breeze. CATHERINE WHEEL has been brilliant at both career starts but at best breezes. If Calag holds the inside then could get planted three deep. CITY CIRCLE, BEDOUIN BELLE and FRIDAY FILLIES are all double nominated Friday and Saturday. Whoever scratches can run third. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – DANCE MUSIC WIN Race 2 HIGH ENERGY and SUMMER’S SKYE both look like they have the ability to rise through the grades in the staying ranks. HIGH ENERGY has been excellent since Dan Staeck jumped aboard and has clearly appreciated the weight relief. Care of the better draw gets the nod narrowly. SUMMER’S SKYE is bursting to win another race. Hugh in defeat two starts ago and then three deep the trip no cover last Saturday. PRESS THE PETAL could improve with cut out of the ground. NOIR DE RUE finds his most suitable race all prep. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – HIGH ENERGY WIN Race 3 VERMONT LADY has had no luck and bad draws all preparation. She is now fourth up in her prep and finally draws a gate. This is a very even bunch with five or six winning hopes. GEIGER GEM backs up off 7 days, drops in grade and has a senior engaged but is yet to thrive in the wet. STOICISM is a nice type resuming off the back of two solid 1450m trials. VELAGO is a unique character and likes to do things his own way. Going to win plenty of races but be a tough one to follow at the same time. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – VERMONT LADY EACHWAY Race 4 DARK MUSKET won this race 12 months ago and looks to have a wonderful chance to make it back to back Western Australian Cups. He has been building into the campaign and but his best run on the board in the Pinjarra Cup. He will stick the trip and is well in at the weights. CAPPO D’ORO always looked like a 2 miler. He has 60kg and will likely tow the field to Saxon Saxoff but has class on his side. COME PLAY WITH ME should get it soft on the fence. SAXON SAXOFF will be off and gone at some stage to try and pinch it. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – DARK MUSKET WIN Race 5 MAJINIKA was first-up at 1400m without a trial for his new stable. Not brilliantly away and pulled behind a ridiculously slow top end tempo. If McNaught can kick him out of the gates he can lead this and give himself every chance. BATTLE TORQUE was not suited what so ever in the race first-up and now gets a rain affected track to his liking. DUTCH SPY had to win the race last start with the way it was run. He didn’t really prove anything in terms of whether he gets the trip. FRIARESQUE does not like winning. Off 7, back in trip and gear changes to try and ‘trick’ him into it. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – MAJINIKA EACHWAY Race 6 VALOUR ROAD only beat a limited bunch in a recent Lark Hill trial but the way he accelerated at the 75m was super impressive. He looks to have returned in great order and dropping from a G1 Winterbottom into a 70+ ratings race is a rarity and brilliant placement. MOLTEN will win his fair share of races in WA and will be in the firing line. HOBOKEN lands three or four back the fence in a fast run race. SEEKER is going well but coming to the end of his preparation. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – VALOUR ROAD WIN Race 7 LITTLE FISH has proven himself to be a genuine city class horse. His effort last start in a super fast run 1200m behind subsequent 76+ winner Special Reward and second place getter Diablerie looks brilliant and he was arguably the run of the race in that event. Too good for this lot. DEBELLATIO is hard to catch but should roll forwards from the gate. MRS BROWNS BOY could be a sharp improver if Mollie Clark finds the front. PEPPIJACK improves with cut out of the track. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – LITTLE FISH WIN Race 8 DOUBLE BUBBLE has wet track form which is ~4L better than all of her dry track form. The conditions should suit, she backs up off 7 days, drops in grade and after the claim is very well weighted. If McNaught lands outside the leader she’ll be should go very close. FREE TRADE jumps and leads and was solid first-up. Should improve for the outing. REGAL MOON draws poorly but comes from a hot form race. Bars on is another put off. KING’S AUTHORITY is consistent but lacks a killer blow. Numbers: 8 – 12 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE BUBBLE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) FLD 1 4 4,8,12 Market Market
