Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 5, 2026February 5, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JUST WALTER JOHN doesn’t jump that well, but he can muster quickly and if he’s able to find the top here then he’ll take running down. Doesn’t look to be anything that is looking to cross him on paper which means that he’ll likely find his way to the fence and likely be attacked in betting off the back of a high rating maiden win. BEYOND MEASURE was scratched from an Albany maiden last Thursday and has found a brilliant 3 year old 1100 in which to kick off his career. It’s a big ask, on debut, straight into a Saturday but it’s a field of 7, he’s drawn well and he quite simply couldn’t have trialled up any better. SOUND OF SPEED is well in on the 7 day spin after the 3kg claim. RIPPER RUPERT now has 60kg after winning a C1 and a C3 against moderate older opposition. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – JUST WALTER JOHN WIN RACE 2 BOY CRUSH was a dominant winner on debut, beating home the likely Magic Millions favourite They’reallsisters, who turned the tables on him last start at 1200. He’s back to the short course, he’s drawn inside of his speedy stablemate Run Rupert Run and so he should get across into a position. Whether Star Martini / Sippa Spritz want to hold each other out likely determines his eventual settling position but with race experience he just looks the one. STERN EMPIRE appears the kind of filly that you could ride back and she would show a turn of foot late. Love the way she came out after Star Martini in that 930 trial. STAR MARTINI is jump and run. COS I AM is drawn 10 of 10 but did trial well for a filly at odds. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – BOY CRUSH WIN RACE 3 SANTANOVA has just gone to a whole new level this preparation, and on paper it looks like the winning move has been to ride her as a get back sprinter. She’s got a sharp turn of foot and should get a lovely run here just behind the speed. The runner-up (Avoidance) and the fourth place getter (Twisted Steel) have both already won of that race and the third horse (Earth God) had nothing go right and still went super. CELESTIAL STORM has had three runs this campaign: 78+, Listed and 72+ and now finds a 66+. She’ll need to lump the 59kg to win but she’s got tactical versatility and has always done her best work at 1000m. NICCIMOTA drops right down to 54.5kg and with a senior rider on can go back to being ridden for pure and utter speed. ROLLING RULER drops 5.5kg first-up to second-up and tracks her every move. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – SANTANOVA WIN RACE 4 ROMMEL’S GODDESS is just enjoying life in her new home. First-up she won a 46+ at Narrogin, second-up she sat wide throughout to win a C3 1100 and last start she tried hard behind Urquharts Bluff. She’ll get a good run close handy to the speed and this is the typical Westspeed Platinum race where there’s 1.5-2L between best and worst. She’s eachway, she’s in form and she tries hard. LUCKY I AM put in a flat run second-up in the Epona but either side her runs have been outstanding. Just wary that there might be one or two who kick up underneath her early, but if she’s allowed to cross to the fence then she’ll be in front for a long, long way. SNIPPY WHICH made an impressive sustained run around them last start on a day where it was impossible to make ground. AMARLIME was well supported in that same event but never got into the contest. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – ROMMEL’S GODDESS EACHWAY RACE 5 TRIPLE THE CHANT: first-up – forgive, second-up – forgive, third-up – forgive. There’s definitely a point where you start to question your own sanity as you follow these horses but she’s going so much better than numerical form suggests. Lumping 4.5kg more than a progressive 3 year old isn’t easy but she’s flying without any luck. SOUTHERN FIRETAIL is starting to loom as a JC Roberts / Melvista Stakes / WATC Derby type. The maiden win was visually outstanding, even though beating extremely limited opposition, but it was more so the run in the 60+ Grad last start that really solidified that view. Barrier 1 will be all the talk – a horse with no gate speed. Has the possibility of being an ugly watch. LILLIAN has come back in great order and will rattle home late. MY HARV should safely roll across. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRIPLE THE CHANT WIN RACE 6 AUDIO BOY, on top, on a Saturday, nearly feels illegal. He’s won 2 from 26, he’s no star, but his last three have all been excellent. Third behind Hoba West (ran second in a Van Heemst to the Perth Cup winner Apulia), third behind Amazing Cheat (off a 4 week gap) and then second to Amazing Cheat. He’s winding up strongly late and is running out the trip. Should pinch one soon. PLANET CASH didn’t win a race for nearly 1000 days and is now staring down the barrel of a winning hattrick. He stepped out to 1800m for the first time most recently and saw out the trip and see no reason he won’t run a full 2200 here. LATE ARRIVAL is another on trial at the distance but looks like he’ll amble to the top without any pressure? KIMBERLEY ROSE ran second in a Belmont Oaks. She’ll be tucked away waiting to pounce late. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – AUDIO BOY WIN RACE 7 DUG ANOTHER HOLE couldn’t be going much better? He has placed at four of five runs this campaign and the only time he missed the money he did a bit of work early to find the breeze in a race that turned into a swoopers affair. This looks the best chance yet for him to finally cross down to the rail and lead. If he can dictate his own terms he’ll be hard to get past late. FANCY RED trialled really well over 950m and then nearly beat Sonoftheboss first-up in a 66+ 1200. They met again last weekend and she just raced like a mare looking for further. 7 days later she spins around in a 1400 and it looks a much more winnable set up for her. ZEPHYRA ran some cracking races across the Mares’ Series and returns from a freshen. CAMERA ACTION comes from the most in-form stable in the State at the minute. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – DUG ANOTHER HOLE WIN RACE 8 LONDON’S IMAGE returned first-up last prep in the Crawford Stakes and it took Rope Them In to run her down (Super Smink back in third). She then went to a Jungle Mist, looked a SWP special and was backed accordingly. Unfortunately, punters burnt their fingers that day and she was later found to have a virus. She’s back in the Cyril Flower, trialled up sharp and should hold a position right over the speed. We go again. ALMIGHTY CLASS finds another new home with Trevor Andrews and after trialling really well gets the services of Willie Pike from barrier 1. He’s a sit and sprint horse who gets the ideal map. ASPHALT may have to bounce out and do the work on the speed and while 1200 might be on the short side for him, he’s all class. TRIPLE JAY was much better last start. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – LONDON’S IMAGE WIN Same Race Multi – London’s Image (Top 3) + Almighty Class (Top 3) London’s Image returned in outstanding fashion in the Crawford before having vets excuses second-up (virus). Has freshened, trialled well and can park right up over the speed. Almighty Class has transferred yard again and going off his recent trial, he’s ready to rock and roll. They look the quinella, but SRM wise both Top 3 will do. RACE 9 CASHEL PALACE had blinkers applied first time last weekend and it almost paid dividends. Could have sworn she won that race but we lick the wounds and move on. 7 days later she finds another suitable race, with a 2kg drop in weight coming into a 72+. They’ll roll along behind Battle Commander and Great Fortune and that should enable Lucy Fiore some room to move in the middle stages. BATTLE COMMANDER was crunched in the Ascot Mile and never looked like losing. Perfect horse for Cassey Martinan to kick off her Saturday riding career and it’s straight to the top and don’t look back for him. GREAT FORTUNE jumped last start and that’s the key to his chances. He can win from the breeze, don’t think he can from midfield. SOLDANELLE will not get me again. Promise. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – CASHEL PALACE WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,4,5,7,9 2,3,5 3,6 1,2,4,8 Market Market
