Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on October 14, 2022October 14, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 UPPER LIMITS was well found late in betting first-up in a 3 year old maiden at Northam. Found the front, controlled, kicked into the corner and won well. Steps back into Saturday company and is again drawn to lead. Thinking that he’ll likely have Saintorio for company however with 3.5kg and the advantage of the inside fence he should be able to give them something to run down. ALL THE KING’S MEN was able to position up from an inside draw fresh and demolished the older horses. May have to snag back to last from the barrier here. Only query on him. SAINTORIO is a bulldog and will keep fighting late in the race. REJUVA KING has 60.5kg and is 6 weeks between runs. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – UPPER LIMITS EACHWAY RACE 2 AIN’T NO OTHER MAN continues to race well without pinching one. Second to Sniaproochy, second to Let’s Galahvant, second to Karli’s Karma and beaten on the post by Defending. Taj Dyson gets his opportunity and with the extra 1kg claiming allowance and another ideal draw he gets another chance. Getting very close to breaking through. JEDI MIND simply didn’t come up when last in work. His previous preparation he ran 4th first-up and second-up in 66+ ratings races. This is great placement. HALATORION gets 1.5kg on Prize Pursuit and a much better barrier to work with. REQUISITION is a model of consistency and went well last Saturday. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – AIN’T NO OTHER MAN WIN RACE 3 TRI FOR US looks a great map bet in this 1800m event. With Native Chimes and Buster Bash likely to lock horns in an on speed tactical battle it’s Tri For Us and Lucy Warwick (if riding Saturday, fingers crossed) to park in behind that speed pair and present at the top of the straight. Great run first-up at 1300m, even better second-up at a mile and should be cherry ripe third-up at 1800. BUSTER BASH backs up off 7 days. Solid effort considering he was coming back in distance in the middle of a preparation. NATIVE CHIMES gave serious cheek in the Kalgoorlie Cup. What an incredible last 3 months she’s had. CRESCENT CITY is proving hard to follow. Continually going round short and continually finding one or two better. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – TRI FOR US WIN RACE 4 LEXINGTON CITY is a natural jump and run 1000m sprinter. Lightly raced, seemingly progressive and trialled very well without blinkers for a horse who wears them on race-day. Expecting Pat Carbery to bounce him straight to the front and from there he can kick into the home corner and try to pinch a break on his main danger. LACED UP HEELS will have plenty of admirers after an eye catching and luckless effort in the 3 year old Classic. Finished only 2L off Snowdome, All Show, Rumour Says, Top Of The Pops. Great form for a 60+ Graduation. OUR WIND SPIRIT ran well at his WA debut. Drops out of a 72+ into a Graduation and is a proven weight carrier as a previous winner with 61kg. STREET PARADE has a tough draw. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – LEXINGTON CITY WIN RACE 5 GEORGE GENTLY is starting to mature into a nice midweek/lower class Saturday type. Completely unsuited last Wednesday in a sit and sprint and with the likes of Yeman Lass (first time at a mile), No Change, Mystery Island and Powerful capable of putting the speed into the race he should be able to wind up into the race. Just needs one to follow. MYSTERY ISLAND was strongly supported in betting last week and went for home before the 800. Backs up off 7 days, drops back to a mile and can bounce back. His previous win was dominant. POWERFUL was a big winner on Kalgoorlie Cup Day with 60kg. STRIKE NOW seems to run for Brad Rawiller. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – GEORGE GENTLY EACHWAY RACE 6 SWEAR TO GOD will be popular with punters. He resumed in a 3 year old Plate and carried 56.5kg after the claim and was simply no match for sharp filly All Show. All Show went around $1.90 last Saturday in the 3 year old Classic and Swear To God bypasses the ‘big boys’ (and girls) to take on the older horses in a 66+ 1200. There’s actually not much speed drawn underneath him so he should nearly be able to cross and find the fence. Very hard to beat if he does so. WRITTEN MATTER has raced in higher grade than this in his last six outings and is a capable sprinter on his day. ENTICING is in career best form but the Ascot Good4 hasn’t been his preferred surface historically. ALIEN FROM MARS is dangerous from three back the fence. Numbers: 12 – 8 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – SWEAR TO GOD WIN RACE 7 NERODIO is still looking to win his first race at Ascot: 7 starts, 6 minors. While he is best known as a wet tracker he has won 6 from 16 on Good4 tracks and is a dynamite fresh sprinter. He attacks this 7 weeks between runs and looks well suited at SWP (57.5kg as a m105 rater). Gets weight on all the horses he beat over Winter and is suited by the hot speed engaged here (Mervyn, Indian Pacific, Money Matters and Wilchino). Goes round double figures and is more than capable. MISS CONTEKI could be caught up in a lot of traffic at stages, however, if she sees daylight, she can erupt with a huge L400. Just needs luck. STAGEMAN will be flying at them late if he can weave a passage. INDIAN PACIFIC is a high class horse but has always seemed to struggle in races where Mervyn breaks them open. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – NERODIO EACHWAY RACE 8 COMFORT ME simply didn’t come up last preparation. In his previous campaign he went from winning a 72+ with 60.5 into a Group One Railway Stakes when finishing second and splitting Western Empire and Kissonallforcheeks. His trials leading into his return to the races have been excellent and he looks like he’ll land one out and one back in running. RESORTMAN has been a revelation over Winter and he should get a great run midfield with cover. Kept ticking over with a strong recent trial at Lark Hill and looks the danger. LAST OF THE LINE can definitely measure up at this level. Loved his trial behind River Beau. Should also find the position he needs. TITAN BLINDERS is not at all suited in the weight conditions but is clearly flying. Numbers: 11 – 5 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – COMFORT ME WIN RACE 9 DEVOTED can hopefully do what many expected Treasured Star to do last weekend – announce himself as a genuine Railway Stakes contender. Was double nominated for the Eurythmic Stakes and the 72+ 1400m and Bob Peters has elected to pick off another ratings race before heading to the Asian Beau. Won the Raconteur Stakes and Belmont Guineas when last in work and after the claim gets in with only 57.5kg. He looks like a genuine odds on pop. SOLAIA got no luck in the Hannans Handicap. She should sneak up along the fence and looks ready to win again. BROOKLYN PIER backs up off 7 days and like all of Neville Parnham’s horses is racing well. TRIX OF THE TRADE is classy but has weight and a bad gate. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – DEVOTED WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 8,12 3,4,6,7,10,12,15,16 5,9,11 2 Market Market
