Scott Embry’s Saturday Albany Preview Posted on February 19, 2026February 20, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DAISEYSFORTHELADYS finished third behind Two Time Charlie and subsequent Saturday winner Watto’s Mark two starts ago and then last time out was beaten a big margin (still third though) in a high speed race dominated from the front by Just Walter John. Gets out to 1500m, drops 2kg into a country maiden after the Rocky Cheung claim and should get all the favours from gate 1. GREAT DEAL was a massive run last start at 25-1 when parking wide throughout and sustaining a run under pressure. Draws better, gets a senior and many of these have just as many convictions. TANGO RHYTHM ran a strong second two back and then was a bit disappointing last start. Can bounce back without surprising. SEA OF GALILEE is extremely one paced and needs everything to go his way. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – DAISEYSFORHTELADYS WIN RACE 2 FLICK THE SWITCH won four on the bounce from November 2024 to Februrary 2025 but has weirdly turned into a bit of a nonny (deliberately harsh considering she’ll go round favourite again here). This campaign she has finished in the money at all four runs but been beaten at $4, $2.60, $2.90 and $2.80 with only really one excuse when wide behind Oxbridge. Time to bounce back and win one. STORM COMMANDER ran super into third behind Oxbridge and Flick The Switch and then got the job done in a very similar race to this last start beating Play Dice. Can win again. LOST GRAVITY drops out of metro racing and has a set of shades attached. Nice placement. HEADEM looks like being a bit hit and miss so happy to forgive the run last start and now drops 6kg. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLICK THE SWITCH WIN RACE 3 PRINCE is looking for a winning hattrick and the only things that might stop him are the 61kg and the stretch out to 1100m (never won past 1000). He’s just going to get every chance here and there’s only a 1kg weight swing for a 1L margin vs Fantaxtic and while that will bring them very close together it’s hard to ignore the way he’s winning. FANTAXTIC has been a different horse trained in Albany. He has won two from five and could conceivably turn the tables on Prince. Definitely the better suited with an extra 100m of the pair. GOD HAS DRIFTED had a decent spell and looked like he needed the run fresh. Big improver. CRYSTALIST only needs to be forgiven for one poor run to be considered a winning chance. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRINCE WIN RACE 4 BEYOND MEASURE went into a 3 year old Saturday on debut with a big expectation on his shoulders. He ultimately finished a well beaten third behind Sound of Speed (went to the 3 year old Magic Millions and was beaten 4L) and Just Walter John (heads to a C1 at Pinjarra on Sunday). Back into a country maiden and should be improved lengths for the race day experience. Like the horse. COSMIC WALTZ continues to find one or two better than him each and every time. Don’t mind he use of the 2kg claim by Steve Wolfe. DANCING SPIRIT ran well on debut here at Albany when second to Lovin On Me. 1700 back to 1200m is interesting? I LOVE LUCY A LOT held her own last start when ridden a bit closer. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – BEYOND MEASURE WIN RACE 5 HYPERREAL was taken down to Albany on the 2nd of November and again a fortnight later on the 15th and that was the making of the horse. He won a maiden and then a C2 and since then has been ultra consistent in C3 company at Ascot/Pinjarra/Bunbury. Heads back down to Albany, back into a C2 and back reuniting with Tash Faithfull (rode him to both wins). Looks the right set up. CRUISE TO RIO deserves to win one and clear out of this grade. Second to Gingerquest, second to Outlaw Music and second to Lady Coco. Knocking on the door. DATE WITH THE DEVIL can do things wrong, but on his day is sharp and Stephen Sheehy is a gun with these tried horses. CAPRICIOUS RULER ack in trip gives cheek. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – HYPERREAL WIN RACE 6 NAILEDEM was gunned down over 1240m on debut, led and won second-up at 1000m and then went to a C2 1100 at Barker and was run down by Lady Coco who has since come out and won again and now heads to Pinjarra on Sunday. 5 weeks between runs, back to the short course and looks like either crossing to lead or parking up outside of Purple circle. From either position he looks really hard to beat. OUTLAW MUSIC was too sharp for them in a C1 1230 two back and then ran third to Lady Coco and Cruise to Rio last start in a particularly high rating C2. Comes out running to look for a spot and if he gets to the breeze it’s very much game on. HUHTAMAKI is only coming out of a maiden win but the second horse Unfortunate Lad was a dominant winner at his next outing to frank the form. REGGIO CALABRIA was crunched in betting and finally broke through. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – NAILEDEM WIN RACE 7 ENDLESS JOY really caught the eye last start in a C3 1800 at Ascot behind Mistress of War and Oisin (fourth place getter Azabelle in on Sunday at Pinjarra too) and happy to follow that as the form reference here, especially with Tash Faithfull jumping back aboard over her mum’s horses Beautiful Baroque and Sir Bear A Lot. She’s drawn a gate to get a soft run, she’s dropping 2kg and she’s been in consistent form all prep. PRAY AGAIN nearly came out and won the Mt Barker Cup, before in typical Pray Again style, putting it into reverse the last few strides and running second! LET’SDEAL is dropping out of another 66+ at Ascot and will surely find one of these soon. He has dropped 5 country ratings points in the last month. NET ZERO has always profiled like a stayer. Finally out to 1900m and drops 6kg. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – ENDLESS JOY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 1,3 3,4 1,2,3,5,6,8,10 Market Market
