Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 1, 2019August 5, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 SASSATIONAL gets her chance in a fairly weak 1000m maiden. Scratched from Thursday to be saved for this, Jason Brown can fire out to lead or take a sit on the stablemate. Should finish in the money. ALIEN FROM MARS trialed extremely well but back in October 2018. Comes to her debut first-up, no trial and likely sits deep the trip. MISS QUOTED gets back to last and is her own worst enemy but has the turn of foot to charge late. BRUCE ALMIGHTY has done nothing wrong in three starts and will be there abouts. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SASSATIONAL EACHWAY Race 2 THAT’S FUNNY AZ has been an interesting horse to follow this preparation. Probably his best run was when sitting back and making late ground but has also shown grit when leading. This is not a deep race and he can give a sight at a price. GREAT HEIST was a strong trial when leading them at Lark Hill. Query over where he gets to in running but looked to have a motor. BLACKWATER BAY is the third Blackfriars from Russian Playmate. If the two older brothers, Come Play With Me and Black Russian are anything to go by he’ll need every inch of the 1400 on debut. ROCKY PATH should get every chance drawn the inside and has race experience. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – THAT’S FUNNY AZ EACHWAY Race 3 PYM’S ROYALE is a bit of an enigma. At his best he can sit back and come sweeping past them with a powerful finishing burst. Some days he just doesn’t turn up and has excuses, last start was one of those. Reunites with his old mate Mitch Pateman and is the class runner. GLASGOW GIRL is in form and Pike elects to ride. Maps to get every chance behind a hot speed. ESSENTIAL SPICE comes from strong 3 year old races and looks a 1000m horse. Map is awkward for Parnham. DIA DE LA RAZA was huge last start in a hot form race. Keep him safe at odds. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – PYM’S ROYALE WIN Race 4 ZARATITE vs DEFIANTLY looks a great clash with two progressive stayers likely to make their runs together down the center. Going with DEFIANTLY on an eachway basis who has been in extraordinary form for the last few months for Great Southern trainer Gary Delane. Arguably a career best performance last start and can stay. ZARATITE was backed as if unbeatable last start and duly bolted in. Does it far tougher here with far more weight but has a sharp turn of foot. UNCLE LINO leads and gives cheek. HERE COMES LENNI is an out and out stayer who accelerated right away from a weak bunch last start. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet – DEFIANTLY EACHWAY Race 5 PLAY HARD has been excellent at his last three. Two starts ago was nailed in the shadows by Friar Fox and Send My Love beating home subsequent winner Son of Bacchus. Lead them up and faded in the Aquinita and then was beaten in the last stride by Lordhelpmerun last time out. Drops in grade, leads and gives a stack of cheek. MULGA ran really strong late sections first up and then was parked five and six deep last start. Drops in grade and draws a gate. SONNEN is not known as a miler but fresh can run a race. A BIT SKETCHY could be the blow out. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – PLAY HARD WIN Race 6 LIPSTICK FLICKERS should be given every opportunity by Kirby and carries a luxurious 54.5kg after the claim. Can lead, can breeze, can box seat and regardless of those three scenarios will have a weight and map advantage over main rivals. Improving type, in form and coming out of a strong form race where she finished within a half of Cryptic Love, Flower of War and Essential Spice. WHY CHOOSE HER was the replay run of the month last weekend. Held up at crucial stages before savaging the line. Has come back a different horse. UNI TIME bolted in fresh in a strong times race. AY TEE EMM hugged the fence on a poison rails day, forgive. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – LIPSTICK FLICKERS WIN Race 7 FESTIVAL MISS backs up off 7 days having finished within a length of two nice horses in Free Trade and Moschard. Draws a gate to sit midfield and she looks like the 1400m will suit. MISTY LAD should roll straight to the top and control the tempo. CRYPTIC LOVE was a strong last start winner in a race which has already produced a subsequent winner. May concede them too much of a start however. GET OVER IT is going well but will need to sustain a run. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet – FESTIVAL MISS WIN Race 8 LOCKROY should box seat behind either Rebel King or Saracino depending on who takes up the running. Either way he should enjoy a soft run and in a fairly moderate edition of the New Season Sprint he gets his chance to win a Listed race. PROFIT STREET is a fresh horse and a Pike horse. He gets both those conditions here. Trialed well enough to flash at them late. DON’T FUSS drops sharply in weight for a realistic throw at the stumps. He loves sitting deep and will give a big sight. REBEL KING connections will be praying it doesn’t rain. Grand old campaigner and the only Universal Ruler who doesn’t like it wet. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – LOCKROY WIN Race 9 IN LOVE WITH PARIS is bursting to win a race. His first-up and second-up efforts with big weights were both better than they read on paper and then he ran a luckless third last start. Harvey jumps aboard and he is a legitimate winning chance in a wide open, and brilliant final race. MULTIVERSE is low flying at the minute and clearly has been repeatedly under-rated. Gets back but will wind up. FREE TRADE was beaten last weekend but lifted under the vigor of Parnham. Interesting to see where he lobs in running. NIKITAS back in trip another winning chance. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – IN LOVE WITH PARIS EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,6,12 7,8,12 1,3,4,7 3,4,9,11 Market Market
