Scott Embry’s Monday York Preview Posted on February 27, 2026February 27, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BINKY’S WAR finished 2L off Country God (Placid Ark & Magic Millions Placed) on debut as a 2 year old. He then finished 3L off King of Light on a Saturday and less than 3L off stablemate Zourun Run in a mid-weeker. Trialled up well, great use of the 3kg claimer and well placed as a 3 year old into a maiden handicap. Hard to beat. ADROIT has ability. First-up last preparation went around in a C1 at Belmont and finished off into third behind Diamond Dancer and Great Edition, and that was after missing away and settling last (of the fifteen runners) at 50-1. York can be a tricky track and he’s an awkward type of horse so needs to do things right. PRINCESS TORONADO didn’t trial too badly at Belmont Park behind Roaming America. Should hold a spot. WUIGI next best. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – BINKY’S WAR WIN RACE 2 INVASORE ran third first-up at Ascot at nearly 100-1 behind Gypsy Rhyme and Basset Hound. That has to be the strongest form line going into this and he’s shown previously that he handles the York circuit with a runner-up performance. Looks a winnable assignment for him. KING BREW has clearly had some issues being a 6 year old making his debut, but considering he’s won barrier trials (back in September 2024) and again trialled well behind Muchacha Bonita at Lark Hill (in handy time too) he’ll have a few followers. SATIN BOW is through the same race as Invasore and went around a third of his price tag. Wasn’t far behind him either. GENTLEMAN’S CODE went around in a C1 last start behind Cannykev and subsequent winner Who’s Bent. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – INVASORE WIN RACE 3 QUICK COOKIE ran second to Apparatus in a C3, second to Azena (since won another C5 races at Bunbury) in a C3 and then was disappointing last start in a C1 as a $6 chance when beaten nearly 9L. That race did contain highly talented fillies Searchin’ Times and So Si God and the blinkers have been immediately removed. Can bounce back. POLYVANOVA had a spin around trial on Monday in the middle of her preparation and drops back in distance from 1850 at Mt Barker into this 1500 at York. She’s been here twice before and missed the money on each occasion at $4.20 and $3.70 but the first defeat was by under 1L and in the second they simply went too hard for their own good. MYZOOM met with support at odds on Wednesday at Belmont and ran well. Now on the quick spin. SKY RIVER can either lead or box seat. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – QUICK COOKIE WIN RACE 4 PURE ’N’ SIMPLE finds the most suitable race of her career to date. On debut she went around in a 3 year old Saturday beaten 5L Our Naughty Secret, Playin’ It Sweet and She’s Hot before going second-up into a 3 year old 0MWLY behind Wonderfully Made and then last start into a C1 behind The Crimson Pirate. This is lengths easier and she looks hard to beat. SAUCISSON is dropping back in distance but can be put into the contest if they throw the anchor mid-race. BAMBUN GIRL is E1 at Geraldton on Saturday and if she doesn’t get a run there it might even be a blessing in disguise because this maiden handicap at York looks to have less winning chances on paper. FLY AWAY FLIRT ran a couple of minors at Narrogin last prep in what were equally weak maidens to this. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – PURE ‘N’ SIMPLE WIN RACE 5 BILL SELECTS is going really well this campaign and is a Narrogin/York 46+ type horse. Won a 46+ at Narrogin beating subsequent Great Southern winner Outlaw Music and then has placed in a C3 to Rommell’s Goddess, placed in a C3 to subsequent Westspeed winner Best Mood and Queen Aria and then run second to Magical Sequence (big chance she wins Saturday at Ascot). Back to a 46+. Right draw, right grade, right map. IMAPAGETHREEGIRL trialled up well, ran super fresh and then really hasn’t had much go her way since. She’ll track up along the fence and has a short sharp sprint. ABBOU was less than half a length off My Authoritah and Rock ‘N’ The Jam in a recent trial. HELLO VENETA was too sharp for them at Barker. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – BILL SELECTS WIN RACE 6 PRETTY DEVINE is a 4x winner at York. Her last two wins have both been 52+ 1200m races at York for Sharni Webster and after a lacklustre end to her previous prep she’s actually dropped down a few points too. Goes well fresh, loves the track, runs for the hoop and no doubt this race has been circled on the calendar at Group One Lodge for a while now. GLOBAL TRIP has had three start for new trainer Coreen Maynard and they’ve all hap plenty of merit. This is a winnable race for him. GOOD VIBES similar to Pretty Devine has likely been set for this race first-up, with a great 3kg claim for Natika Riordan. ZAC LUVS TO FLY doesn’t run any bad races. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRETTY DEVINE WIN RACE 7 PRECAST was only 5L off Prawns Eleven in a C5 two start back and then after a mid-prep barrier trial went to Gero in a 58+ and finished 2L off stablemate Bonny Rock. This is a big drop in grade into a 46+ and with an ounce of luck from a tricky draw she should be hard to beat. MAKWELL SMART ran second to So Immaculate at Bunbury over the short course before finishing fourth at Belmont to Excess Baggage after showing plenty of dash. In front for a long way. MAGIC BELLE hasn’t been the same this prep so far. She’s not the most talented horse but her characteristic trait of previous campaigns was toughness. She’s been putting up the white flag early in the straight this time around. STORM LORD is always competitive in 46+/52+ races. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRECAST WIN RACE 8 ANGEL SHAME went to a 60+ Graduation on Magic Millions Day and was only 4L off All Grunt, Audio Boy and Amamus. This 46+ looks far more suitable for her and Holly Watson should be able to put her into the race from the 600. She’s only won one race but it was an 1800 and so this does look a big opportunity for her to win a second. SUNNY TIMES won two races at Kalgoorlie last preparation and this time around has been just building with each run. Like the placement, like the claim. SNIP OF GOSSIP went around in this grade at Bunbury and finished third to Wayne the Pain and subsequent winner Buster Biff. SIDE SHOW is ready. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – ANGEL SHAME WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4 1,3,7 3,9 1,2,6,7,10 Market Market
