Scott Embry’s Monday Northam Preview Posted on May 31, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 DROP THE ORANGE ran a strong second in a truly run stayers race behind British Bessy who has since won again. Looks to be a fair few lengths above this lot but likely opens around the $1.40 mark. KEBALAH is racing well enough to give cheek. ALIMENTARIA could take up a percentage of the market after a game effort at York. May roll to the top and take catching. GLAMOUR BELLE is not yet in form but showed staying ability last prep. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – DROP THE ORANGE WIN Race 2 POINT TAKEN should bounce straight to the top and from there is clearly the one to catch. Jason Brown in front, hard to run down. Lead, rack, stack, kick and hold on. TRUTIARA is bred in the purple and was the target of huge late support on debut. Never got warm at York, should bounce back. PERCEIVE has strong enough race form to figure in the finish. SCHIMMEL next best. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – POINT TAKEN WIN Race 3 JUST TOO HOT looks to have found the right race. He can settle off the speed or can be unleashed out of the gates to sit over the speed. Think in a field like this they will ride him with confidence. Hard to beat. MELTEME was backed at odds early before being scratched on Thursday and looks the logical second pick. JINDA NINJA ran some reasonable races in her first prep. FRIAR TUCK next best on debut. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – JUST TOO HOT WIN Race 4 RETURN A SMILE is double nominated at different meetings but if this is the race that Lou Luciani selects then he will be hard to beat. Eye catching on debut from off the speed and drawn to box seat. TESTA DE LAGO can sit right over the speed and give a big sight. CELTIC COURT had a delayed start to his career but looks like making a reasonable animal. ACROSS THE SEA looks like picking one up for Nat Burke. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – RETURN A SMILE WIN Race 5 FINGERMARK resumes into a Class 1 handicap, almost exclusively has form in open 3 year old company and Class 3s against the older horses. Draws soft, finds a weak race and can win it. CHOICE COMMAND broke through last start in maiden company, got the job done the tradesman’s way and the horse who ran second came out and won during the week. OVERTHOUGHT should roll to the top and take catching. ARSINOE has a nice turn of foot but settles a fair way back from the draw. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – FINGERMARK WIN Race 6 TRULY BELONG has been whacking away most of the preparation without pinching one. Draws to get to the middle of the track here and Pike back into the saddle. She can win another one before heading to the breeding barn. TURBO POWER was a fresh winner in a Saturday race and then has only been fair since. Finds the front here and looks very well placed. KLEVA KEZZA is a massive mare who usually fires fresh. WOCKNWOLL can make the grade here. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – TRULY BELONG WIN Race 7 WANNA BE GOOD comes out of the Sky Racing Provincial Final where he ran a nice second to the progressive Fernie Galloper in Moshcard. Can take the step up to a mile and looks suited on the back-up. SKINNEN TINS has been in the market recently in tougher races than this. Stalks the speed and looks the danger. STARTTHEFRIAR has been belting moderate opposition at York, this is harder. BOXONLUCY draws soft and that’s when she does her best racing. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – WANNA BE GOOD WIN Race 8 STORMY ORA should lob into a lovely position just off the hot anticipated speed. Usually goes well fresh, lightly raced, encouraging trial and stable always in form. DUCK DUCK GOOSE gets well off them but has a turn of foot, may find the trip a bit short but has ability. WILDONBROOK is a speedy type who will jump and run. PAGO BAY is another who should be smoking the pipe just off the speed. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – STORMY ORA WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,5 3,4 2,4,5 4,5,7,10 Market Market
