She seems to have a tendency to lay inwards from what we’ve seen at the trials so the inside barrier and the rail to follow could be key. Looks to have some ability. MR KOHANA is a long time maiden who knows how to run second or third. He continues to promise to pinch one. FLY THE FLAG and JUST GOT PAID both improve off their first outings at the KBRC. Both can come on quickly and are live chances in an open maiden. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – DUCHESS OF GOSSIP WIN RACE 2 ONEMOREFORLEO was a good trial behind Lil Bird Told Me and dual subsequent winner Ultimate Style back at Lark Hill on 20 February and ran well enough first-up into fourth behind Diamond Rocks, Born and Bread and Private Sapling. Two starts later gave $1.40 favourite Filthy Habits a run for his money and off that effort looks the one to beat here. WELL PLAYED joins the Pearce Brothers Kalgoorlie operation and beaten 5L Lady Cabernet isn’t bad form for this. ELUSIVE PRO stays in Kalgoorlie and joins Rickie Brown. The day he finds the top and rolls along he’ll pinch one of these. PECOS was good at Esperance and then fair at Kalgoorlie. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ONEMOREFORLEO WIN RACE 3 FILTHY HABITS had all the best form for the opening meeting: fourth to George Gently and Starchienne, third to WATC Derby contenders Demolish and Playhouse Patron. For that reason he went around a well supported $1.50 favourite. He was far from impressive when leading, kicking and holding off Onemoreforleo but he improves off that and this race doesn’t look any deeper really. Gets his chance to go back to back. ALL ON BLACK like most of Paul Tapper’s Esperance team was very good on occasion. Gets a soft run. TALKABOUTYOU won well at Esperance two back. GRECE LIGHTNING an improver second start in Kal. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – FILTHY HABITS WIN RACE 4 WISE WORDS should be a handy mare for Kalgoorlie. First-up she showed enough speed to hold out Men’s Club and from there never really looked like being beaten. She’s won by over 2L and off that performance you’d think she’ll measure up here in another 58+, even with the addition of Short Talk and Dunbar. She’s just as good behind the speed as she is out in front. Hard to beat again. DUNBAR was up to his old tricks fresh. He missed away, tracked into it, loomed and just didn’t want to go past them. He now drops back from a 70+ into a 58+ and wins one soon, but he can go round without us anymore. SHORT TALK is quick. Would be no surprise to see her cross Wise Words and really make them chase. NO MORE DUST found form at the back end of the Esperance season. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – WISE WORDS WIN RACE 5 SOLARIZE endured a tough run at the opening meeting. He was parked deep throughout and thought all things considered he actually fought on quite well. Senior rider goes on and in a race with plenty of tempo he can park midfield (hopefully with cover) and at his best he has a dynamite turn of foot for this grade. LEADING MAN brought his ultra consistent Esperance form to Kalgoorlie and won yet another race. Having a wonderful 3 – 4 months and continues to hold peak form. BALLADEER does tend to go better at Esperance than Kalgoorlie but all of his form measures up here. AL QUEPONE is flying for Josh Brown. Barrier 1 probably not the best draw for him. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SOLARIZE EACHWAY RACE 6 BOOZEROO chased hard at the opening meeting. Playthatfunkymusic had strong metro form to his name and Boozeroo was carrying half a kilo more than him. Never gave up the chase at any stage and kept the margin within 2L. Now with the Austin Galati claim gets down to 57.5kg dropping from a C2 back into a C1. Looks a really good race for him on paper. PIQUANCY was a big winner for Justin A. Robins at her WA debut. She trialled well at Esperance, she met with strong market support and she charged home in the final 50m in a messy race. Now races under the Drury banner but expecting her to go through her grades. BOLD STREET should be improving on his first run in Kal. MAIDMY WAY has no weight and hit the line late in the Boozeroo race. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – BOOZEROO WIN RACE 7 CELEBRITY WITNESS was excellent last start at a completely unsuitable distance. She got a mile out of her ground from a wide gate (with 59kg) over 1200m and rattled to the post. The beaten margin of 6L is greatly exaggerated in a race which was dominated out in front (Wise Words lead and Men’s Club sat second). Only gets an extra 100m, but gets 4kg off her back. If they’re making ground, she’s a big chance. Pattern dependent. TAHITIAN RED had a great season for Gary Bowen last year. She’ll get out over further but she’s sharp enough to win fresh. SATURDAY SUN is still looking for a run. Never saw daylight at any stage opening meeting. Forgive. DAWN AMNESTY let rip with a big turn of foot to score last start. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY WITNESS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3 1,3,4,5,6 2,6 4,5,6,7,8 Market Market
